In 2016, I was looking at the Canyon and wanted heated mirrors and 18-inch rims but didn't want all the technology that came with the "SLT" trim package. I wanted to be able to pick options one at a time instead of being bundled with junk I don't want or need. If I am paying for something, then I should get 100% of what I want, not 90% or 99% and I hate paying extra for features I don't want. It took me 7 years to find a Base Canyon at a decent price. One of the first things I did was go to a salvage yard and buy 4 SLT rims. They didn't tell me I couldn't put SLT rims on a Base Canyon. They sold me what I wanted without any problems, and I went back for some Denali dash panels.

Really seems like those small things shouldn’t be assigned to option packages. I’m curious to see how Chevy responds with changed in 2024. Will they bring back at least a light switch? I don't have to navigate through a screen. And the truck doesn't even have to be on either to turn the lights on. Similar thing with the AC and radio controls...especially when driving. Cars have had screens for awhile, but only a few before have had as many controls on their screens. I am also interested to see the reliability of those screens over time. I can't for the life of me figure out why any manufacturer would continue to use incandescent bulbs in a vehicle. It really does not cost them any more to just put the same lights on all of them. Now they have to have two different kinds of product on hand when they build a vehicle. Also they should consider doing things the way that most Japanese manufacturers do on options. Typically they will have 3 or 4 trim levels and only a few options within those packages.

I have the 2023 Chevy Colorado LT, and that tailgate storage and under the rear seat storage is very limited. I have jumper cables stored in the tailgate. Under the rear seat, I wish I had more height to store a canvas tool bag, but no it doesn't fit. So, I'm seriously thinking of a truck cap. I had one on my Ford Ranger, and you have a wide height range of storage that's out of the weather. The problem with the cap, is the reduced gas mileage plus all that weight of stuff you continuously haul in a cap. And another disadvantage is keeping the front cap window clean and the rear cab window clean. And, if you can't keep the front of the bed exterior clean between the cab and the bed, that's the area where my old truck rusted, because you can't clean off that road salt in that area properly. I wish they could come out with a cleaning tool to clean this area, that will help in the long term in maintaining your truck from rusting in the rust belt states. I'm glad my LT doesn't have those wheel moldings, that's where the road salt accumulates too. I had exterior roof sunvisor on my ranger with the running lights, and I really loved the look, but people complained the roof began to leak ruining the roof liner. I had my Ranger for 21 years since new, I never had that problem, but I kept it resealed. The LEDs in the reverse tail lights were really great backing in or out of my 100' driveway near the woods at night. I drive strictly in town and the fist time I fueled up my 2023 Colorado LT, I only got 14.1 MPG. 14.1 MPG was a severe disappointment, but figured the engine needed broken in yet..

Andrey can goto cruise control parts site to get an add-on 3rd party cruise control kit with switches for his Colorado Trail Boss for around $300 to $350 USD depending on model. Takes about 2 to 4 hours to install yourself depending on your mechanical inclination, mostly for diagnostics to make sure your cable connections are correct!
i REALLY REALLY LIKE the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon and when the AEV-equipped 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition comes out with the 35's and big lift, I will DEFINITELY be taking a look! If it offers what i need for a lot less than a Ford Bronco Sasquatch Edition, I may just bite the mustard packet and buy one on an 84 month vehicle finance package with $3500 down.
It will be expensive but since I intend to own it for at least 12 to 15 years, it will be a palatable expense as my weekend warrior plus fishing boat towing vehicle! I will DEFINITELY be putting on a full and very thick underbody, all wheel wells, engine bay plus truck bed Line-X coating to ensure its longevity in snow and salt water marine environments!
When one buys a NEW VEHICLE these days, you SHOULD be expecting to hold on to it for at least TEN years probably 15 years to ensure you get the most out of your 72 and 84 month finance payment terms! That's the ONLY WAY most people can afford these new and EXPENSIVE trucks by using loooooooong finance terms! Please also SPEND the extra money up-front on a COMPLETE underbody and bed protection package (i.e. full Line-X coating) to ensure you can actually KEEP your vehicle that long!

Yeah it feels like GM could actually save money on these vehicles sticking to one part for a lot of things that are options instead of having to have two different variants of certain parts. There has to be some bean counter that thinks these options just bring in more money.

When I just bought my new Denali Ultimate one of the other local GMC dealers actually I think both the other GMC dealers play the adjustment game. Its absolutely ridiculous. I guess that is why Bell and Bell keeps going through inventory and the other 2 seem to have the same stuff on their sites for weeks. The one Yukon XL Ultimate I was eyeballing they had for 2 months now. I really would like it to replace my 19 Suburban but they marked up $10k on top of sticker they do that on pretty much all Yukons and like $5k on all pickups but the Ultimates they wanted $7 or $10k extra for. I actually got $1500 off on my Ultimate at Bell and Bell. Was well worth driving 30 miles to the north end of town to buy. Especially since I paid cash and I know one of the other GMC dealers I tried to buy a truck at before acted like they didn't want to do a cash deal and they tacked on almost $15k to the price when I got down to the desk to buy it. That wasn't an adjustment I guess it was a truck that was modified by some aftermarket company most of what was on it wasn't anything I wanted but the truck was sharp. I asked about trading my truck I had at the time and my truck had the dual exhaust and rims too and they said it made mine worth less but somehow it added $15k to theirs lol. The Boss rims it had they made a big deal about. I have a couple sets of Boss rims on my 55 and El Camino and they are pretty cheap lol. The 22s that truck had I could have bought at the time for probably $1k maybe $1200 they weren't chrome they were just black so they might have been even cheaper. They harassed me for weeks after. Calling and mailing me wanting to know when I was picking up my new truck. Told them I would buy it when they honored the price that was in the window I would be right down with a check till then they can keep it. Eventually somebody bought it. I used to see it near my house every now and then. Saw it at the Food Lion by my house quite a few times so maybe whoever bought it worked there

I own a 2018 Chevy Colorado and just paid off the original loan. If I wanted to sell it today I could get the original price minus interest paid back in 2018. That is how crazy the auto industry is right now. For a new Chevy Colorado I would need to sell the 2018 and take out a new loan for the same sale price back in 2018.
