- After closing Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and folding Roundhouse into the larger Xbox brand, the leadership team has not had a ton to say on why. Why did the Hi-Fi Rush studio need to close? Well now Matt Booty on Xbox discusses that answer. In addition, the FTC trial had a small update and we talk about games skipping Xbox. What is up with that? Here's your Xbox news today!

Can’t trust a word he says.
If any of these game sites did any research, they would know that tango never reached sales or engagement targets on any of thier games. Not one. They were on the chopping block the second MS bought them. If half the people complaining about their closure played tangos games they wouldn't have been closed. simple.
Poor dim Matt booty didn't even know the name of the studios he shut down world class leadership that is 😂😂😂😂😂
@@spazco8669 exactly.
Gotta say, Xbox should get into the bandaid business because they are amazing at it.
Why not just sell the studios though instead of closing them?
They don't want to compete against them later. Or they still want the IPs just in case
We don't know nothing about the financial, tributary and legal situation of those studios... I might be not that easy
@@Quasmin 'don't know nothing' means you know something.
If you read the whole thing you'd know it was considered. I don’t think anyone was interested since the main draw was Shinji Mikami.
@@victoralistein2481 That is just a guess on your part,You lack facts to prove it.
I think the studio head and others who in fact did leave Tango were the main reason for shuttering the studio. Xbox didn’t feel confident with their future and needed to save money. I agree it all sucks no matter the logic behind it. I wish all those who lost their jobs well.
Nah. Closing the studio and more likely more studio closures and layoffs yet to come are to make money/save money as part of XBox's efforts to repay MS the 70 billion for the acquisitions.
People come and go from studios all the time .Founders leave studios they created. Other competent people can come in although that doesn't always happen but it can. .
On the subject of Tango, the creator of Tango, who also created Evil Within, Resident Evil and Ghostwire as well as the creative director of Ghostwire all left before Ghostwire 'launched' so they didn't have the 'creator' or 'team behind those games anymore so maybe can't rely on 'Tango' to create the games it was known for. Arkane Austin too lost a LOT of Staff - the 'team' behind Prey for example during the Redfall development as they were not happy or interested in making a 'Live Service' game.
However, Activision, who are NOW part of MS has also opened 2 Studios - Infinity Ward Austin (so yet another 'Austin' Studio) and Elsewhere Studios in Poland - which maybe logistically and financially (as Poland is cheaper than Japan) to build up and support - after all the EU has a LOT of Developers/studios to hire from and of course can get support from MS's EU studios. Being in the EU, MS can visit easier (whilst visiting 'other' studios) and communication is easier as they are not the other side of the world in a completely different time-zone.
Both Arkane and Tango also may not have had their next 'Project' even started yet and could be another 5yrs+ of funding, recruiting etc to get the 'right' team in and making games they can 'sell' to recoup costs - that 'money' maybe better utilised in their 'new' Studios and/or across their other Studios to ensure they get their games out and at the quality we expect...
Ghostwire Tokyo had already launched when he announced his planned departure.
Matt Booty Response was great Both heads left they had no leadership and hellblade still had their leader there only one guy left
You dropped your clown 🤡 makeup. HiFi Rush wasn’t made by Tango’s creator, it was a passion project of the team.
Still sucks that they were closed. But to play advocate, we are not privy to what they see and the information they have. It’s easy for us to say, “you’re evil, you shouldn’t have done that”. While the team that stayed was a majority, we don’t know how many of them could create and lead ideas vs executing them. The team behind Hi-Fi rush was small, we don’t know what the capacity was for them to continue previous and create bigger IP. To keep an overseas studio open for smaller games doesn’t seem financially viable when they were set for bigger output under previous leadership. Just wanted to try looking at all angles on this.
You don't make a very good armchair expert with that sort of talk.
@@SheepAmongG.O.A.T not an expert opinion, just trying to look at a possible different side of it. I’ve had to unfortunately make tough decisions at previous positions, it sucks. I still think it absolutely sucks that they were closed. Just pointing out, we don’t really know the full story.
@@grse7en It was a compliment considering all the moral higher ground types that act like they have a clue. It does suck just from a negative press standpoint IMO.
@@SheepAmongG.O.A.T thanks man, I read it quickly and misunderstood. It really does suck for everyone. I get it’s easier for us to just paint them as evil execs, but the reality is that these things are complex and sometimes tough decisions have to be made.
From our perspective it seems like there was enough left to continue Tango. But from theirs? We see now they didn’t think so.
They say that. Whether it is true we may never know unless some documents leak.
Tengo studio closure criticism is valid, however, when London Studio shutdown and those devs were left in The cold and Sony didn’t receive half the criticism. Fans just want gaming journalists to be consistent. When you don’t, some games feel like it’s an attack on Xbox specifically.
it's because Microsoft praised the studio, called high fi rush a success and said it needed more games like it. Then shut down the studio soon after. Microsoft is bleeding money with gamepass and alot of their other studios lost alot of consumer trust so getting rid of tango comes across as short sighted
It's the contradiction in what they said and their actions you muppet
@@T3chn0logicalTerror Sony shut down studio Liverpool that is the worst, no more wipeout games.
It's so fuckin weird Destin has been silent on all the other closures and layoffs since this last Xbox one..
Ytbers think they are going to "A Few Good Men" answers out of MS/Xbox. Tango was unprofitable, understaffed, isolated , with no projects in the works. The studio is gone -- let it go already. There's a little to how many unprofitable studios a publisher will fund. You fellas are incredibly generous with someone else's money.
I am glad to hear this statement because it corroborates what was said and done before and gives a good understanding how these decisions are made. Xbox leadership did not lie and they still keep the course they set up, Phil and co are still in control. Closing of studios is very sad and emotionally I am with you, @DestinL. But I think you are missing the picture Phil, Matt, and others were painting. The closing of the studios has little to do with the financial and reception success of their games! It has everything to do with the leadership, current and future projects, tech development, and the management of the studios. While you question how the departure of studio leader could have been a critical decision to shutter the studio when the studio delivered awesome games, it makes total sense: if there is no strong voice advocating for the FUTURE of the studio, this studio will be on the chopping block. Ninja Theory is safe, because they develop tech first, games second. Tim Shaffer's Double Fine is fine, because there is a strong leader + connection with indie community through Tim's reputation and network. I would be worried about a studio with a single project and unknown future. I want to reiterate again, the financial success of the game does not matter as much as media and outsiders think. Future is more important, not the past.
doubt that is the case. Nadella wanted them to do something and so they settled on what they did. No doubt they will do other things. Perhaps stop making XBoxes altogether and join Sega as a former console maker.
2:15 can you still say it’s THAT team now though? How many people have left Tango? Didn’t some of the leadership that Mikami suggest succeed him leave as well?
Mikami was the name at the studio. That's all there is to it. If he was not there then no one would have heard of them.
Once he left the studio was on life support.
Lets also remember that the studio released ports of their games that were worse on the XBox than the PS5.
The franchises, more importantly, were not successful. The only one that got any real praise was Hi-Fi Rush.
@@vaguedreams with that said I would have rather have had a evil within 3 over hifi rush.
Tango had no leadership after the founder left and created a new studio, and some employees left with him. Hifi does not save the studio from closing, with a history of flops. Xbox does not need to include playstation until the game is coming to playstation. Sony does not include coming to pc on the trailers.
That was what i assumed happened at Tango. They looked at Tango's leader and overall position. Considering Tango was the sole Xbox studio in Japan and that Shinji Mikami left they simply didn't have the kind of leadership you'd need for a studio so far removed from the rest.
xbone losers
I don’t understand how Microsoft is supposed to know on or before a game’s release date whether they might decide later to put their game on a competitor’s console. Sea of Thieves is ~7 years old and no one ever could have guessed it would top PlayStation sales charts.
May of topped the charts but it lost like 80% of its player base the next week people will try these games
End of the day, Matt Booty doesn’t owe the public what the business rationale was for closing any studio. We can disagree with it, but these decisions are not made lightly. The fact that Xbox had to know how negatively this news would be received and still closed the studio despite that says a lot.
“That team”…..how often have we heard “it’s not the BioWare/ Bethesda/ Rare (etc) of old. The creative director of Tango left, right? And 3 successful franchises? Hi Fi doesn’t qualify as a franchise yet, the evil within was not terribly successful….cmon man. It’s probably as good an answer as can be had.
I didn't want Tango to shut down, but saying they had three successful franchises is a bit of a stretch. They may have been critically acclaimed, but critics don't pay the bills.
Then why make a video game in the first place? We'll get slop like call of duty every year because it's homogenous garbage as it sells well.
facts. every game tango made including hifi rush failed to meet sales or engagement targets. Every single game.
@@spazco8669 You could say that about a lot of studios. Bioware included. EA hasnt shut down Bioware yet although it might be on thin ice esp if the next DragonAge flops.
@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc bioware has still made profitable games and is still a big name in the industry. Tango has never made any, and until they were shut down most gamers didn't even know who they were. It's not the same.

So just how successful were they?
It was The evil within that hurts to this day I wanted a part 3
Xbox owns the IP still
@@smok3sho587 yeah they might own it but I doubt it's going to get made
Xbox still ons the IP so it could return. I'd say there was little/no chance Tango would make EW3 as the games creator left as did a few others. Maybe that's why you got something 'very' different with Hifi Rush - critically acclaimed but obviously didn't sell well, even on Playstation where Sea of Thieves is doing well...
As much as I like EW IP, I don't think it was a big as a Resident evil for example, that's probably why it hasn't happened, now, if they see a team that could make it something big, it'll come back, but probably a reboot wrapping up where things left off, hard to say.
@@BAMozzy69 that's the thing they could have made it in the future I'm not saying that they was going to make it but there still was a chance
Not sure why media keep hammering on this, simple answer is streamingline for financial reasons
Yet never bringing up Sony closing Japan studio or London studio.
the top execs left so that was the reason we know what happened with bioware for example when the top execs left the studio
That is not true when you say they are responsible for three successful franchises those franchises were not financially successful. That’s what you’re missing here. You can get all the awards and accolades you want, but if you don’t sell anything, it’s hard to pay the bills then it’s hard to pay workers when you don’t bring in money. All those franchises you mentioned didn’t bring in a lot of money what are you talking about. I hate to be hypocritical here, but are you looking at the numbers the sales numbers not the review scores sales numbers you know the stuff that matters because you have to pay for another game that’s going to be produced later and if you don’t sell any copies of the first game, how are you going to make the next game?
It doesn't help when their last game was shadow dropped without any marketing or hype. How could MS expect that they'd create a successful game, let alone a franchise by doing that?
It was clear that MS wanted to close the studio right after Shinji left, which is why they agreed to a shadow drop. They didn't expect the game to blow up the way that it did, which caused a huge PR nightmare for their plans.
Tango wasn't purchased intentionally, it was just the byproduct of buying Zenimax. They probably would have been better off just quietly having cancelled HiFi Rush
@kthebarbarian8223 It is not clear what Microsoft wanted to do with the studios because they were all actively developing games when purchased.
ZeniMax pretty much had them work on games that a few studios didn't want to do because they were looking to have something on the books to help inflate their value outside of legacy IP.
The games released afterward could have given the now-defunct studios a lifeline, but everything doesn't always pan out. Lastly, word-of-mouth marketing is one of the most effective and cost-friendly tools of marketing businesses can use. It did not harm Hi-Fi Rush, so I don't understand the negative pushback. It may not have been financially feasible or even in their budget to spend potentially millions to further market the game like a traditional first-party release.
Probably hi fi rush was more successful than gostwire Tokyo, whiteout marketing but still not enough. Another side gaming, people mostly play old games, 41 IP take 90% money form gaming Market on PC/Xbox/PlayStation.
From PR side close tango is very bad, from business side is resnoable.
@kthebarbarian8223 Bro please stop with the BS "shadow drop caused it to not be played/bought"
You want marketing for HI-FI Rush?? Do you realize how big of a deal it was when Xbox had that business update ?? Do you know HOW MANY people across the internet watched it or listened, or watched videos reporting on it ?? It was ginormous news that Hi-Fi was one of the games being ported to playstation. ...and the game still didn't get plays and purchases. Give me a break.
@@Mmachine88
You think that marketing is only for the hardcore base? 🤔
There were tons of people who watched the business update, with almost all of them being hardcore gamers in the know who were more interested in the discourse than they were in buying HiFi.
The commercials & ads are for the casuals mainly. You have to get them interested in buying your game for it to be truly successful.
We can speculate that it would have flopped anyway, but being shadow dropped into a subscription service, then ported to PS5 a year later with little fanfare certainly didn't help its chances.
Why would anyone expect a game to "sell" with that set up?
& If PC/ Xbox/ GamePass engagement & accolades aren't enough, how do you measure success? 🤔
By this metric PS has become integral to how they view the success of every game going forward
How do you rate the success of all of the Tango games you mentioned? From what I can find The Evil Within maybe sold 1 million copies and Ghostwire Tokyo "reached" 6 million players. And we know Hi-Fi Rush didn't sell very well on PS5. So, it doesn't seem that any of their recent releases were a great financial success.
Answer: It's not personal. It's just business
I mean... His name is Matt Booty
This is starting to get annoying, they closed it, oh well.
anyone notice that when anything slightly controversial comes out like SBI stuff, Kotaku crap, DEI/ESG stuff certain people go mum for extended periods of time?
Tango didn't have leadership with enough experience anymore keep the studio open in xbox's eyes.
That is not surprising as the person responsible for creating 'Tango', the person responsible for creating RE, Evil Within etc left, the creative director of Ghostwire left and their last game, whilst critically acclaimed, wasn't 'popular' - very 'niche'.
Even though MS chose to sell on PS5, it never really 'sold' judging by its 'absence' in the sales chart where Fallout and Sea of Thieves seem to be doing well. Therefore does it really make sense to keep open a Studio where the creator of great games is not there and leadership of Tango is different to the one that created those 'great' games it was known for. Same with Arkane Austin after being forced by Zenimax to make Redfall...
Whilst MS has closed 'Tango' and 'Arkane Austin', Activision, who is owned by MS. have opened 2 Studios - Elsewhere Studios in Poland and Infinity Ward 'Austin'...
How did capcom port re 4, 5, 6 and the origins collection to Xbox One and Series X/S?
I'd love to see you and Brad to do some videos together! I loved your unlocked episode where u included him
The Black Myth Devs got paid by Sony for Timed Exclusivity....and we know that when devs take that money they sign an NDA so they need to make up an excuse that sounds moderately plausible
Why do people care so much about studios being closed? It happens all the time. It's not the 1st and won't be the last. When sony does it no one says anything, soon as Xbox does it then it's the end of Xbox, Xbox needs better management, etc etc etc.
It’s a very small studio. They invested in it clearly because they bought into the vision of the leaders there. When they left and took their other talent with them it likely gutted that studio.
I appreciate you covering this because every other creator in the xbox space made a ton of negative content after they shut down these studios and then pulled their pants down and bent over after the xbox show happened. Disingenuous trash.
Matt Booty told the truth. Everybody left when the leader left. It was not the same studio. Where is the criticism for Sony when they shut down studios Destin.
To close 343 and Ninja Theory would've made more sense
Leadership matters…, yes or no?
I would like to point out the Ready at Dawn closure didn't have near this amount of controversy. The Order 1886 developer if your remember. Prior to that game that studio did some really good work. Now I fully understand Sony purchased that 1 studio not an entire company, but I still think that was one was bullshit as well. Point is these types of decisions happen all the time. All the time. Bend Studio for example is lucky they weren't shut after Days Gone failed to meet expectations. Sometimes the game doesn't have to be bad for the spreedsheets to dictate what lives and what dies. Rareware for example was no ones favorite studio for almost 20 years, but their Kinect Sports titles were money makers. Had it not been for that Rare would have been shut. Then now, unless you really like Sea of Thieves, people could still care less- but that game makes money.
It sounds like the leadership and some key figures left and they didn't want to invest more into a studio that didn't have structure for future games. Closing tango hurts but if microsoft looks at them and sees something we can not see clearly because we are all speculating on what actually happened. We look from the outside in and think microsoft has like 3 trillion dollars it could keep it open but that's not how buisness works.
They need to start saying timed exclusive content like Nintendo does right upfront
Imagine your game getting good reviews and pumped by the media and people still don’t wanna play it. Maybe no one cares of about rock and roll and guitars in 2024 but older people in the media?
My understanding is it could've come to Xbox One but they chose not to because of user base.
Let me but on my business hat.
A studio closure is never something that's desired. If a studio is closed there is absolutely a reason. That reason may or may not be made public, and everyone will never be happy with the decision.
Another thing to know is that money doesn't grow on trees. There is always a budget whether you like to recognize it or not.
So with that in mind, the question is what lead Microsoft to close the studio even though they released a good game? Keep in mind that 343 has had changes, but didn't close. The Initiative had a lot of people leave but didn't close. Rare had no idea where they were going with Everwild, but hasn't closed. Ninja Theory released Bleeding Edge and followed up with a nice game, but didn't close. What was so bad that these particular studios were closed?
I'm expecting the Evil Within 3...so sad Tango Gameworks closed.. ☹
so maybe the twisted pixel experience burned them enough to worry about the hi fi rush studio. because they got Twisted Pixel based on their record of titles like The Maw, Splosion Man, Gunslinger, etc. but once they were acquired, they were a bit lost with what to make and what they did make didn't get a good reception like lococycle. so they became independent again and kind of went into obscurity, making games for Oculus. That's the thing with smaller studios because they make it big because they capture lightning in a bottle but you can't keep doing that long term. Not saying that Tango Gameworks is the same. In fact, I think they should've at least been given the opportunity to develop more.
With the Marvel not on Xbox it should be noted that the FGG on Xbox is basically dead. Tournaments are basically standardized on PlayStation and since they locked out unauthorised controllers, custom controllers (which is the norm in the FGC) and leverless (i.e. Hitbox) are non existent, only 2 high end sticks exist (Hori and Nacon).
So basically when Microsoft blocked uncertified third party controllers they killed the genre on Xbox.
Wasn't Booty CEO of Midway when they went bankrupt?
Some of these going to PS4/5 only could have upgraded editions coming to Series and PC…
Son we are going to seat here and still be mad ay a corporation for making business decisions that will make scenes to them. It's super expensive to run a studio that can't sell

Come on Destin! You have no idea what is going on half the time you talk. MT Framework is a game engine. Capcom used it for a long time before moving to the RE engine with all their current projects. Capcom has ported MT Framework to Xbox One and PS4 but they no longer use the engine so there is no need to port it to PS5 and Series X. If they thought the game would sell they would have no issues releasing and Xbox One version of the game just like they are releasing a PS4 version and the modern platforms can play the game via backwards compatibility. Xbox may be being secretive on platform launch plans due to the future FTC case, or because they haven't figured out which games are going multiplat yet. The Activision deal is still fresh. They are probably still in the planning phases on which tiles go where.
I don't think they're "planning", I think this was already planned.
Satiya has already bragged to investors about how well they're doing on PlayStation, and has openly admitted that he does not like exclusives at all.
This is merely the growing pains of avoiding A PR nightmare, and slowly integrating their fan base into the idea of them being a multi-platform publisher.
In under 4 months they went from "JUST four Games" to "You'll start to set MORE of our games coming to other platforms".
You don't decide that switch on a whim. It was planned even back in February, & even before then when they bought PS5 dev kits for those studios, but they didn't want to say it.
"Case by Case" means the majority, & everything we think will sell on those platforms. They'll I have launch exclusives (timed) ONLY until their pipeline catches up to parallel development.
By the next generation expect everything to be day & date. It's over.
Matt Booty a killer! He gonna spend y’all outta business 🔥

Does anyone here own any gaming studios ? Then we dont know how this works or how to even manage a gaming studios
Microsoft are always moving the goal post on how they determine a studios "success"
Because each studio & the company itself uses different metrics to determine success. AA games are judged differently than AAA titles just as live service games to single player narratives, & etc. The monetization of each game differs & MS is becoming even more a subscription-led company.
You can get further insight on their financial calls. It doesn't tell all of course.

Destin needs to get his feelings out of the way for Tango and think about it from a business perspective. We dont really know all information but we do know that Ghostwire Tokyo didnt perform well, HiFi rush didnt perform well even though it was critically acclaimed. If something isnt performing well or doesnt really have a future then it needs to be cut. It wouldnt make sense to get rid of something thats doing really well.
Simple.. Microsoft ain’t in the process of raising Shinji Mikami kid while he remarry and live it up 😂 He didn’t make Hi-Fi rush only produced it. He hasn’t directed anything legendary since RE2 in 1998. He left Tango after the merger because he didn’t want to be considered a “Uragiri” by his own country for working with America. He faked retirement only to pop back up talking about a new game studio. Microsoft was smart enough to close that studio and allocate Hi-Fi rush talent elsewhere giving them a new studio. Smart business move on M$ part going forward.
i feel like tango wouldn't have been closed down if xbox wasn't so horribly run to begin with. the fact that microsoft has to be MORE INVOLVED with xbox shows there is overzealous control that is going on due to the grim fate of the xbox platform since the xbone.
The answer is business viability going forward. They aint making decisions on which studios to close based on anything else. The amount of Hysteria on closing the hifi rush studio is so overblown. Get over it! Many of the peeps have found other jobs and it wasnt the slight to gamers that you seem to make it out to be.
So the Tango situation was because of Tango, the Capcom situation is because of Capcom, & the Black Myth thingy is because of PlayStation. . . Got it. Thank you for straighten all this out for us Destin.
Black myth is because of Series S, just like with Baldur’s Gate 3. At this point the Series S is the reason why PlayStation has timed exclusives, if Wukong was timed exclusive by purpose then Sony would’ve bragged about it just like they have done before with their other timed exclusives.
@@ImViruxx I know my dude. Im just having a laugh at the Destin bots consuming the spin - again lol
Dim Matt booty didn't even know the name of the studios he shut down this is your leadership 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Owning so many studios does not simply require better management, but a whole new model for management, for it's big, complex and very difficult. Also, MS is run by a board of directors. So, decisions are not made by those who understand gaming necessarily, but by those who have to keep their investors happy. So, decisions are often made that may please investors, but not their customers.
Nadella and his CFO are making most of the decisions.
I don't think sony has been paying for games to not be on xbox. I think they are setting the contract that if they want to be on PS then they cant be on Xbox. No extra money. Just saying it will not be on PS if it goes to xbox.
I guarantee Sony is paying for games to be delayed from Xbox or just missed.
Or just saying Us or Them. Saying they wont put it on PS if it goes to xbox. They have a big enough install base that some companies would take the deal.
Xbox consoles has the lowest player base with the lowest game sales.
Boy you guys live in some type of vacuum I swear lol
Majority do not buy game, check.
Double work for small player base, check.
Weak hardware and forced parity, check.
MS make far easier for Sony to make deal with 3rd party studios.
If the games are enjoyed by players but not making any money, who do you think is at fault here; the developer or those in charge of finance and marketing?
Keep in mind the developer does not choose the price of the game nor has any control of the marketing, They just developed the game and follow orders from above.
Microsoft basically did nothing for hi fi rush by shadow dropping it and making it a day one gamepass. Microsoft has a history of self fulfilling prophecies
@@T3chn0logicalTerror "good afternoon, Tango game works.
What we plan on doing is providing absolutely no marketing for any games you develope and if we don't see HUGE NUMBER$, you're all fired. Thanks and enjoy and oh, here's a box of donuts. Keep up the great work 👍"
I played no other game than dishonored and the evil within that’s it… it will be okay guys
I don't understand the confusion. If the developer was setup for another successful game going forward, they would support it.
Business is business. I think we all need way more context before crucifying Microsoft for their decision.
Sure there are bad decisions made sometimes.. But when it comes to money making, we don't know if that developer made any money.
Maybe it cost way too much to develop that game compared to the "success" it had. Do we know ?
I find it frustrating that people with no business sense, with very little facts presented come to these conclusions.
It takes an entire team to launch a game, but 99% of that team just follows orders and is supervised by a small group that leads the project and makes all the decisions. It doesn’t matter if almost the entire Tango team stayed; if much of the company’s creative and quality leadership left, what do you have in the end? Maybe not much, just a bunch of people who don’t know how to create a game, only how to execute tasks. I’m not trying to belittle anyone at Tango, but there is a hierarchy in game development, and the people who execute the tasks are not the same as those who create and decide how the game will be. Think about Hellblade 2, even with all the resources, I consider it a much inferior game to the first one, and from what I’ve heard, the creative lead of the second game is not the same as the first one. Think about it.
Launch exclusives is not good enough imo, they need to have PERMANENT exclusives that will never go to Playstation and should be fully associated to the Xbox brand. Gears of War for example should never leave the Xbox brand to become a multiplatform release because it would simply make the Xbox brand a "play early and gamepass machine" instead of a platform that offers unique and exclusive experiences. Why would I buy an Xbox if I can play it later on other platforms.
i feel like some people over here in the comments section are trying way too hard to blame the players when xbox is a horribly ran company to begin with, there were 20,000+ reviews on steam when Hi-Fi Rush first shadowdropped, and the fact that the state of the gaming industry is just too tough when working under any corporation that wants constant profits. in this economic recession post-covid. i think tango would've survived under obviously better circumstances
Stop the Cap they can get it done ☑️ if they choose to. So again it’s bs all these games can be eliminated if need be .
Heres some perspective. They produced a great game. Everybody that wanted that game purchased it by now. It ran it's course time to move on.
Unhappy with Capitalism, Comrade?! Good... Good...
We don't have details about the financial, tributary and legal situation of those closed studios. Complain from the outside looking in is kind pointless...
^Evil Within was the game
Black myth has been delayed thats all.
Microsoft seem like rookies after being in the game for the last 25+ years. They seem like they STILL don't know who they are because of the way they flip flop on decisions with exclusivity. None of the other big players have that problem. And lately it also seems like they've been trying to settle in this "middle of the road" identity, which I think is kind of cowardly. In a very real way, Xbox has succumbed to defeat and has showed everyone that not only can they not mimic Sony and Nintendo success (not saying they need to ape their games, but at least ape their stance and pride in their own brand), they pretty much stopped trying to. People won't forget that.
Why are we still talking about this?
Beverly it was brought up
Because it matters for the future of Xbox
because instead of doing 10 mins research and knowing exactly why they were shut down, Games sites have chosen to speculate about it for a month. Keeps fanboys engaged and that advertising money rolling in.
@@spazco8669 yup
Gaming media want to be bias and probe Microsoft while Sony could close one and everyone would act like nothing happened. In fact they did 🤔
The Tango studio closure still makes zero sense to me. Yeah they lost some of their higher ups, but they're responsible for one of xbox's highest rated games since the 360 era, they couldn't have just absorbed the devs into a different studio or something? Or had them play a role like Beenox where they support other studios? It's still such a baffling decision to get rid of some of your most talented devs because no matter how their games perform, they can always retool them and make better use of their talent
Xbox lied about Japan being important 😢
Unfortunate, but they also have other studios since acquiring ABK. If you pay attention to the video & thr interview, Matt Booty commented that they looked at other viable options before they closed the studio.
With so many people leaving, there's no telling how the company's vision would have changed or how much of it would have remained the same without it's founder(s).
@@KnightSoulsG Xbox now has more japanese support than ever in history of Xbox. It would be cool if Tango remained open, but they could have something more in store. Tango is just one studio that was already in works of disbanding (as we knew of Tango) after MS acquired ZeniMax.
@atlien1988 the founder didn't make hi5rush...
MS just do not care about the talent, they only want take the IP.
If all the key people leave the studio why the hell would it stay open? Another bad faith story on Xbox. sooooo shocking
You are not smart. Another 🤡 fanboy!
I’m just here for all the comments made by people not running multibillion dollar conglomerates.
xbox has been bleeding out for like a decade while their competitors basically run laps around them. It sounds like they dont know how to run a company either
I dont say they was successful the titles as they did not really sell that well. I love evil within 1/2 but it never made a splash really and then ghost wire was in the exact same boat. The only game that made people look at this studio was hifi but even bring it to ps4/ps5 made no difference . I would love to find out sony sales to xbox sales .
I am gutted as i woulf of loved hifi rush 2 and evil within 3 but that wont ever happen now
Booty 9/10 chat shit and tbh if these new titles dont blow up even if they are successful i dont have hope of the studios staying open! Is this a sign of the knock on effort of gamepass ?!?! Dont get me wrong am the problem aswell but i buy gamepass as its a great deal. Like i cancelled my pre order for still wakes the deep as it was coming to gamepass and ill only buy the games on gamepass all the 1st party when they are cheap a few years down the line incase gamepass dies or i dont subscrib anymore.
I say what Matt Booty said was bullshit, they should never shat down no studio they could've just had them join other Xbox studios like 343 they have like Activision dude will call of duty
Tango Gameworks getting shut down will haunt Microsoft forever and will be a black stain, just like Lionhead being shut down which they said was a mistake. And thing they say about supporting Japan goes right out the window
Only to people who don’t understand the industry, the people who do already understand.
Xbox should abandon Japan. And focus more on Europe and Mexico and Brazil, which have a large xbox following.
Like I said. Nadella and the CFO pulled the strings. All this other stuff is obfuscation imo.2-3 years from now and Spencer and the others are still there they will say closing Tango was a mistake.

I mean if you can't remember names of the games they made, do you really care about that studio?
destin doesn't really care about all the games people like. he forgot to mention mario and luigi having a new game since 9 years ago
