- In 2017 Dr. Disrespect messaged a minor according to his own statement. "Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes." Here's an update on his statement and the events that have taken place since the original story.
Previously: Over the last week, Dr. Disrespect has come under fire because several people claimed that his Twitch contract ended because he was trying to contact a minors on the platform. This is a recap of the entire situation, why Dr. Disrespect may have settled the lawsuit. Why Twitch likely settled the lawsuit. And where that "No wrongdoing was admitted" statement keeps coming from. On June 24th, 2024 it was revealed that the Midnight Society Dr Disrespect partnership had ended. This is supposedly after they looked into the situation Cody Connors mentioned. An hour earlier, Guy Beahm aka Dr. Disrespect quits streaming or at least goes on an indefinite vacation. Here's my recap of everything you need to know about the Dr Disrespect story.

Just want to highlight how well done this was on Destin’s part. Despite the nature of the subject, it has been wholly refreshing to hear this story from someone guiding with facts like this and taking enough care not to paint things in an even worse light than they need to be.

@@adstar1947 because I’m a recovering addict and can see that he is human. He made a mistake 5+ years ago. Judging by the solid presence of his wife in his life, he’s clearly battled some deep personal issues that not one of us can fully understand.
Nobody is perfect. People need to understand that change is long hard road. But I believe Doc is on the right path and has been since this happened in 2017.

Destin, I am a doc fan. I have been enjoying his streams for years. I have been reluctant to believe Doc could have done truly wrong. But after watching this video and because of my respect to you and how well you lay out the fact, I now realize that Doc really did mess up bad. I will not be supporting him in the future. I’m failing to see any LEGAL malfeasance here. Sure, what he did is certainly distasteful. But he never did anything illegal or else we’d be looking at a much different scenario.
Doc clearly struggles with an a digital addiction and I know how it feels to have no control over messaging people. It takes a lot of personal work to get better. I hope he is on that journey

The only thing that can give him any redemption is if it is confirmed that he didn't know they were a minor at the time and if the full transcripts of the DMs are released and there is nothing sexual in them. It won't absolve him of what he did do wrong, but it will clear him of being a Pedo. But nothing will save his career. I can't see him coming back from this.

I don't see anyone has pointed this out yet, but it's possible Twitch did not disclose the situation to protect the minor. There are other arguments around this, 1) maybe Twitch approached the minor and they made the direct request 2) if Twitch found out by looking at DMs they may themselves be culpable for violating Doc's privacy, 3) there are laws about who is required to report these cases to authorities, and Twitch isn't required
Now we just need to take care of Twitch funneling minors to OF pages and sexual streams
This is what happens when you don't regulate platforms properly and you should have a governing body response for this and the same for youtube and other media site's.
If your an older gamer your better off only grouping with people you know, I was playing ESO and I got a private in game msg asking if I would group to help out one of their friends, after me saying I don't really want to group but at the same time feeling a bit bad for not helping out I agreed, after they realised I totally sucked at the PvP part of the game we disbanded the group but the person who asked me to group with them started asking how old am I? to which I replied "Most likely old enough to be their father" at which point they politely sodded off :) It's a shame ESO does not have a way of connecting similar age groups, no disrespect to the younger gen but I simply would rather group with people around the same age as myself, that's why I mostly solo.
The 1 line missing is, “I did not know this person’s age at the time.” Since that is not present here, he can, in his own words, “GTFOH!” He tried to strike a cord with A-Minor. End of discussion.

Being that there was no crime committed, I'm assuming he stopped when he found out her age. Either way, he's a married man and shouldn't be messaging anybody. And if he continued to message this person knowing she was a minor that makes it even worse.

But I think that is the problem with a lot of social media, including Twitch. You don't know who you are talking to on the other side of the internet. But as a father, if I found out that my minor was talking to somebody else who was older than them, I would hold my child accountable for what they were doing as well. I'm not defending what he did, but I think it is important that we knew that he did not know that this person was underage. If this minor knew what she was doing, it was basically showing that she was trapping him into something and she could get in trouble for that.
Welp, what I thought is happening is happening. While there are some staunch defenders of the Doc still, those who were waiting to get proof and then condemned Doc are still getting labeled as defending a pedofile. We just hate each other way too much in this country.

He can say he did nothing illegal. All he wants the question is first when he messaged the minor did he know it was a minor and second if he knew it was a minor what did he say? All of the other stuff about being innocent and not doing anything wrong sure you might not be guilty of a crime but you might’ve done something creepy or sleazy or someone can say you were trying to get too close to a kid you didn’t know. Someone might question why are you behaving this way. So if he wants to fully exonerate himself in the eyes of the public, ask twitch to allow him to show us the message or messages he wrote to the minor.
Keep in mind, this could be a case where twitch fired him because of the message. He wrote to a minor and he truly may not have known. It was a minor he may have thought it was a grown adult. Which could’ve said, mistakenly minor off of our payroll and immediately signed a nondisclosure agreement with him, and he truly may not be able to talk about this publicly or face legal repercussions . But for the time being you are going to have a lot of people who are going to say, what did you say and did you think the person you we’re talking to was
