  • Are you having problems with the wiper motor in your 1967-1972 Chevy or GMC truck? If so, I'm glad you're here! The majority of problems with these motors and pumps are that they are wired incorrectly. In today's video, I will walk you through how to remove, install and properly wire your washer pumps and motors in your old ride.

    Man I can't tell you how much your video helped. I wasn't getting anything to work because the switch wasn't installed in the dash and then kept blowing the fuse only to notice after watching your video that not only does the switch have to make ground but the wires were backwards. Everything is perfect now. Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !

    Once again the Alpha Chad to my rescue! During the process of wiring I could not for the life of me figure out why my wipers were not functioning properly. Turns out, the ground wire on the side of the wiper motor had been discarded and the guy who helped me had hooked my windshield wiper ground where my dash panel ground was supposed to go.

    Nice video, I did mine around 1990 from under the dash. I unbolted the motor, locked a pair of needle nose vice grips on the arm and took the nut off. Installed the new motor to the arm and bolted it back in. It took me about a hour to do all by myself. It is a little tight in there but it can be done.

      Steve on my 72’ My Wipers just quit working - switch is Om but The Motor is Very Hot 🔥- so I’m assuming the Motor is Bad.
      LMC MOTORS has one but Says is it a 3-or 4 Terminal. I see 2- plugs 🔌 on the Rt. Side .

    • @xdrag4854
      @xdrag4854 Рік тому +1

      @@jimmysapien9961 You will have two plugs for the wipers and a plug for the washers. The wipers on the three wire has one plug with two wires and a plug with only one wire. You need to see how many wires are on the plugs so you get the right motor. Chad's video shows the plugs around the 3:15 minute mark on this video. Check to see if you have a 3 or 4 plug motor before you buy one. Also check local part stores. Some still carry them in stock, my local parts store has them.

    I just replaced the rubber hoses on mine. Pain in the butt too. I went through the radio space. Still have a scuffed up forearm and wrist. I haven’t checked if it works yet, but I’ll definitely pour water down the feeder tube to prime the pump. Thanks for the videos.

    Came here to see how it mounts, because mine has some "missing" metal. One should always leave the cowl tray full of dirt, bugs, and leaves, while filling the kick vents with expanding foam.... Smh. Thanks for the video!

    Hello Chad, thanks for the video. I had a question I was driving my 71 blazer in the rain and My windshield wipers were working fine. Turn off the truck and 1hr later came back now they stop working. Do you have any idea what the problem can be?

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Cesar! These motors rarely fail. The switch, fuse or connections are usually the problem. I would start with the easy stuff. Check the fuse 1st. Then try rotating the wiper arms manually to make sure a pivot point isn’t bound. Grab a test light and make sure you have power at wiper fuse at the panel. Maybe clean both sides of the metal where the fuse connects to the box. Check for power at the motor and switch. Tap the motor with a screwdriver or something hard. Might just work. Keep me posted!

    Great video and thank you. Inspecting my motor and found I got quite a bit of metal missing around the mount. Of course I had to prove it a bit and all that rust fell out like fairy dust. Any advice on a temp to semipermanent repair?

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  Рік тому +1

      Dang fairy rust dust! Cutting it out and putting another in, doesn't sound like any fun. I have always gone to my faithful mud and fiberglass for temporary fixes. Then I just forget about it until i have to deal with it. If its weak and you can pull the cowl off and give it some support from the front side might buy you some time.

    Great video, thanks Chad! Having an issue with my '70 C20 where washer fluid will squirt constantly whenever using the wipers. Any ideas there?

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  8 місяців тому +1

      I appreciate it! Could be a couple things. The washer gets its power from the wiper motor, so it could be a mechanical. It could also be electrical. Make sure no one has tapped into the wiper motor wiring for power for something else. Also check the dark blue wire. That is the washer wire. If all else fails, you can just disconnect the washer pump if you don't use it much.

      It should be on to keep the transmission arms onto the motor arm. You can pull the wiper arms off and put them back on a few degrees more to see where they end up.
