- ►Replacing your Porsche 911 997 front brake pads and rotors is one of the most important safety jobs you can complete on your car and something you can tackle yourself rather than going to a shop or dealership.
The condition of the brake pads and rotors is a critical component of any vehicle. On a sports car like the Porsche 911 997, brake parts are geared towards performance over longevity, causing them to wear quicker than a family sedan. Considering the 997 is meant to be driven spiritedly, the condition of its pads and rotors is paramount.
The Porsche 997 front brake kit featured in this video comes with everything you need to complete a brake job at home. The brake pads, rotors, hardware, shims, and sensors are all supplied, taking any of the guesswork out of purchasing brakes for your 997.

Great content. Would love to see more 997 diy like starter, radiators, etc.
Just ordered a ton of fluids from you guys, Trans Kit, Both Diff fluid kits, and also Transfer case kit. All Liquid Moly Products besides the transfer case went Porsche for that. So excited to put them in my Cayenne !
Excellent video... Thank You
You are welcome!
Great vid. Many thanks from the UK. 🙏🤘🕺
Thanks for the video. I am living in Munich/Germany and I own a 2007 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. Have to replace the Front Brake Rotors soon. This video will be superhelpful.
Good luck!
FCP is the only place to order parts from .... Best DYI videos on the net !! Bring back the Crock's Mike :)
They're running out of tread!🤣
Would love to we some Porsche 955/957 guides.. but I guess it varies a lot with all the different models
How do you handle the brake line connection to the caliper on a 2010 4S? There is no easy 10mm bolt to remove as pictured here. Do I need to disconnect the brake line at the caliper and let it drain? Clamp it? Leave it on and bend the line back?
Hi, really good guide. On my 997 2005 C2S I have replaced rotors (Sebro brand), pads (ferodo brand) and all the brakes hardware and accessories following your instructions. After 600km still noise when I gently brakes at low speed only. How can I solve it? Please advise
I heard the ferodo brakes are suppose to be a little bit noisy.
Don’t forget to refill the brake fluid and reinstall the reservoir cap!
Would the rear wheel brake job is similar to front? I have a 2007 Carrera cab. Anything different on older models?
A similar process, we have a rear 997 video as well if you want to use it for reference!
how difficult is it to change the oil on this car?
Hi Illidio, we have a video for that in our Porsche Playlist, very straight forward and easy to do!

What exactly do the caliper shims do ?
Hey CAYMAN987, Pad shims are there to help reduce noise from vibrations between the pads and pistons in the calipers. They mainly act as a small buffer.
You didn’t bleed the brakes??…
Hi Matthew, great question! They were indeed bled, however, Mike may or may have not forgotten to mention that to us, and did it without filming 😓
