      mainlymusicman NASA is using an automated process to eliminate measurement artifacts by comparing data to neighbouring stations. All changes to data due to this process are documented and accepted by most people in the scientific community.
      BTW Ewert is paid by a climate change deniers organization who's main arguments are like 'well, ice is melting because of the sun and co2 is good for plants' - oh and I should add that climate scientists know that it's not only co2 that is causing global warming, but deniers like to ride the co2 bandwagon

    It's so weird the way news is presented in the USA. It's like the guest just starts to explain something and they get interrupted by the anchor or interviewer. Then they go to speak again and it's stopped. Sound byte news. It's noisy and horrible and provides little usable information.

    • @bottomsjohn88
      @bottomsjohn88 7 років тому +14

      Sue Mead That's because news is a form of entertainment. News organizations are really advertising companies that show you world/regional/local current information in-between ad breaks. Guest speakers are not brought on to have a conversation with you, (which would be amazing) they are brought on to trigger you into an emotional response.

    • @SueMead

      John Bottoms
      I totally get that John. I just don't understand why people play into it. Why is this acceptable? Are there alternatives that don't have their own agenda? i.e. just tell the news?

    • @mebeingU2
      @mebeingU2 7 років тому +3

      Sue Mead - It's way too late. People prefer and gravitate to "news" that affirms their views. So many outlets...pick the one you like and sit back and be entertained. Fake news has become real for so many. We'll see where this takes us...

      Sue Mead imOp: People have played into since the 30s. When publishers needed catchy headlines to sell papers. In TV I would say it was in the early 90s with channels like Nickelodeon and reality TV. I say the 90s over the 70s only because more people than ever before in America had a television. Is there any good alternative? Not really, with all news organizations you should read between the lines. You should always do you own research and form your own thoughts and opinions. I took journalism in college and the first thing I cought on to was that even someone telling the truth over embellishes to keep a reader's attention.

      Yo! Dude! Natural or not, there are a whole lot of deniers out there.
      Your usage of the term "moron" in refering to Mr. De Lamarre is unwarranted and is therefore unrighteous.

    • @CrniWuk
      @CrniWuk 7 років тому +4

      Shooting your self with a handgun in the head is a 'natural' process too Mr. righteous truth-speaker, but that doesn't mean that it's recomended. Climate change happens, and humans have a large part in it. And the sad part is, we have all the alternatives available to avoid it, there is no big technical challange to overcome here but it doesn't happen. For the most part, Climate change, is a political problem not a technical one.

    • @Godsbackhand7
      @Godsbackhand7 7 років тому +1

      Climate change is natural. The increasing rate at which the climate has been changing is not natural. This is the point that people have been trying to get deniers to understand. Ie. grass growing is natural. A full field of grass growing 4 feet high in a week is not natural.

    Hope for a job and watch the climate Change

    • @elsiegel84
      @elsiegel84 7 років тому +12

      Cyrus Slapatich It more like 800, and more than a thousand moved to Mexico - and those are "saved" jobs, which is nothing at all like "getting" a job. Moreover, those "saved" jobs are at the individual tax payer's expense while the corporation gets additional tax breaks. Worse, he has shown every other greedy employer how to make a deal at the public's expense. BTW, weather is always changing, that's not the same as climate changing. If you have grandchildren, they will learn that opinion has very little influence on physics.

    • @elsiegel84
      @elsiegel84 7 років тому +7

      Cyrus Slapatich Really, the whole American auto industry, 700,000 green energy jobs, 2 million healthcare jobs. Better job growth in US than G7 by nearly double, and more than double the job growth of 36 advanced economies from 2009-2016. So that's the first fallacy you're trying to dish up. And I'm pretty sure you know it's a fallacy which makes you rather dishonest in your commentary. When you lie about something so minor why would anyone put any stock in your other ideas? You impeached yourself, Cyrus. Moreover, you argue from ignorance when you assert the climate is always changing. That's the weather, Cyrus. Weather and climate are different things. Look it up. Educate yourself and you won't appear such a fool. It's your grandchildren that will suffer from the ignorance you encourage. As for economies, your comments indicate your complete ignorance of that subject, too. In fact, why am I wasting my time on you? Your willful ignorance is a settled aspect of your character. As immutable as lead. Good bye.

      +Edward Siegel - Bravo, Sir! Its astounding how conspiracy theory trumps (intended) real tangible data. There is an international consensus on this topic, yet the dolts who voted Drumpf in the US are willfully and stubbornly ignorant, defending indefensible facts. What has our generation done to raise such a clueless progeny?

My thing is is it really that wise to not lean on those who KNOW more than you or is it wise to NOT. Why don't you just think of his motivation for why he does what he does instead of being angry he knows more than us.

      Anyone who has the most remote knowledge about the atmosphere (which is apparently very few people) knows that the greenhouse gas effect is a naturally-occurring phenomenon. There is no debate on that. However, mankind's activities are accelerating this change to an extreme degree. This kind of global fluctuation in the GHG effect has only been seen in extinction periods and it started to accelerate when humans began using fossil fuels. Coincidence? Hardly.
      Disputing climate change is at this point like disputing evolution-but that's another scientific principle the US seems to have a vocal minority denying.
      But let me ask you, what benefit do the vast majority of scientists who report that climate change is real get from their "lies?" Who's funding them? How much profit comes from the "myth" compared to the oil industries? If you think about it purely from an economic standpoint, it makes even less sense to deny climate change.

    I was just talking to my father about that last point that Nye made! The oil companies could've spearheaded the transition to renewable energy years ago and started the integration of these systems. It's amazing how these ancient industries are so resistant to change--especially during times when energy usage is the highest it's ever been (which is every consecutive year)!

    Rather strange, Trump, a well known skeptic of Global warming, was never asked, never pushed, Hillary never raised the topic once and neither did the President or Climate change advocates..... why the near total silence if they were so confident they could shut trump down on this issue? A: They are only confident when they are the only ones with the microphone, such as this video presentation.

    Wind energy is extremely expensive and doesn't give an equal bang for the buck back. Anyone that wants to dispute that look at the hydro rates from the Province of Ontario . That province is being ruined by the expensive hydro . I believe they pay more than any place else in North America for hydro and it's directly related by the provincial governments signing that wind energy deal. So if you want to pay expensive hydro bills look to that place as your modal because it'll happen. Bill Nye doesn't know what he's talking about there.

    • @bfp08

      Wind energy is cheap, that is the cheapest market because it's an untapped market, there's nothing driving down its cost further than where it is or manipulating its value
      Plus coal is losing market interest

    • @edvolve
      @edvolve 7 років тому

      That's the real problem. Fossil fuels are enormously energy dense! We are a moth to flame in that regard. It's too enticing. For the first time ever we would have to revamp our entire system and build out a comprehensive infrastructure from scratch to chase a much more diffuse energy source, flying in the face of what our current economic system incentivises. The plot thickens.

    Instantaneously switching from oil to renewable energy would probably start a war... So many countries have a monopoly solely based on the trade of fossil fuels. Changing to renewable energy like a one step process that people want would destroy economies and cause unreliable social unrest. Fossil Fuels are bad, we might have the technology to replace them today, but doing so would not be so wise atm.

    3:30 - "we could power a least 130 countries renewably, right now..." With Solar, geo thermal, bio-gas, wind, hydro-, biomass (wood), etc. And how will that energy be harvested? By using technologies which require a massive amount of CO2 to be released. Solar panels require silica to be processed with great heat, wind turbines are made of graphite, steel and copper, all of which require fossil fuels to be produced, geo thermal requires at least steel pipe, hydro requires massive amounts of Concrete which is an incredibly CO2 dense process. Biomass - just a fancy word for wood-burning - is renewable for sure, but it's hard to call that climate-change negative...

    We need to be careful about dismissing any Conservative viewpoint as 'ignoring science.' A Republican who argues that cutting down 3 trees on a plot of land to build a small store isn't going to "melt the north pole" isn't ignoring science. He's simply saying that Global Warming or not, the Government shouldn't tell that small business owner "Hey, uh Global Warming. 3 trees stay!"
    That has nothing to do with science its just arguing that politicians shouldn't be able to use Global Warming as an excuse to become too big for their britches.
