As somebody who has never seen the play - I was enraptured by the trailer. I get chills every time i watch it…like i am obsessed now. I already loved some songs from Wicked but wow…wow. For me, personally, I felt like this trailer gave ppl an idea of where the journey is going to take us (for those who aren’t familiar with the story already) so i didn’t think they showed too much. I want more nowwww haha.
Oh i am sooo glad that you get to experience this on the big screen. i saw Wicked on Broadway in the orchestra streets and I cried, it was that good of a show. Highly recommend you watch it someday. This trailer def set up the first act of the the musical very well. I can't wait for you to experience everything this show has meant to so many people around the world!
The trailer tells a beautiful synopsis of the first act, but there’s so much more going on and these are just two great songs in a really great act. My absolute favorite musical!

omg the featurette was such a beautiful thing to see. Ariana, Jon, Cynthia they are so passionate about this musical and I just know they are going to kill it because they want it to be amazing. They CARE about these characters as fans themselves.

I have never seen the Wicked musical. I admit my initial interest was JB only, but this trailer and the other bts video have really made me excited for the project as a whole. I'm now looking forward to seeing all the cast in this, and it looks visually spectacular. Can't wait.

It’s my most anticipated film of the year going back to what you said about “in the Heights“ I don’t think it’s fair to even try and compare the two because “wicked” has been a global phenomenon for more than two decades, whereas “in the Heights” had a much smaller niche audience. And as much as I LOVED in the heights, it was released direct to streaming at the height of the pandemic. I’m fairly certain this movie is gonna crush everything in its path once it’s released.!!!
you are not wrong about comparing both musicals...wicked is def on another level for sure. I saw in the heights in the movie theatre actually....and i really enjoyed it! But yes i hope this movie is amazing so much so that we get some nominees up in there. I LOVE CYNTHIA...i think she is a phenomenal performer.
Actually the length of the trailer is perfect. For those like me who had never seen the live stage play/musical, it helps to build a bit of context. I'm very familiar with the director's work and OMG both Cynthia and Ariana in this together is such a beautiful match. Have always been interested in the Wizard of Oz stories so I am very excited to see this. And yes, I cried too during the Defying Gravity song. Such a beautiful trailer.♥
I can’t believe we’re actually getting a wicked movie!!! I’ve been waiting so long. This trailer was amazing, though I do think they may have showed a bit too much… but I already know the plot of course, so maybe it’s less of a giveaway if you don’t have that context
I don't think they showed too much. I think people are overestimating how much people who are unfamiliar with Wicked will pick up about the plot. I mean for a lot of us, we just hear a tiny snippet and we can fill in a whole tapestry from memory. But that's not what people who aren't already familiar with Wicked will pick up. Like, apparently some Ariana Grande fans took the snippet of Popular as a reference to her Popular Song. But that's cool! That just means they're in for an even bigger treat going in fresh.
This is true…I do think it was for people who don’t know the story too well to understand what they will be getting. I loved it and I love this musical with all my heart so I cannot wait!!

there was no singing from the actors , mostly scenery from this trailer so not much was shown other some of the story. If there is songs, singing being shown online that usually few weeks until movie is released. Also there more footage that will shown during Summer Paris Olympics NBC
Well we did hear a bit of popular in the background and defying gravity a little more of a peak into some vocals..which give me chillsssss….im very excited!
I live in NYC. Been here since 1998. Washington Hights is far more racially diverse that the movie portrays. So know that there is that insensitive nature of the movie.
I do remember this being a thing when it came out. I am actually from NYC too born and raised in Queens NY…so I get it. But I did like the musical. The songs hit, the choreography was wonderful. I understand though the racially diverse conversation.
