I am soooo excited too!!! The only thing that has me worried is the splitting in 2 parts; my fear is that people who don't know the show will be left wanting by the first half, since so many of the emotional gut punches, plot twists and tie-ins to the Wizard of Oz happen in Act 2. I hope they found a good balance with that somehow, so that Wicked part 1 will still feel like a complete movie experience of its own.
Hey Tish, I know I’m sooo late to the party, but loved your reaction!! I’m a 53 year old white British guy who had his first ever experience of Wicked last night at the cinema with my eldest daughter and had tingles all the way through, and your video gave me tingles like you were having too, I also couldn’t work out why but the film hit me emotionally, I have always been a bit of an outcast/ different, and having 2 daughters means I love anything to do with girls and women being brave enough to be who they are and stay true to themselves despite what the world thinks or says about them because they are threatened by their strength and honest forthrightness, and I think you must have had a much bigger and more powerful connection as a black woman? Whatever thank you for helping recapture a little of what I felt last night at the movies and merry Christmas from England 🎄💚😚

I'm not a fan of Ariana so I was a little biased against the movie vs. it live. But Cynthia makes me want to cry with her performance in the trailer alone. And honestly, I'm liking Ariana as Galinda as well. But having Cynthia as Elpheba gives me literal goosebumps. Appreciate your reaction!
Listen I can’t believe I was crying like that 🤣😭🤣😭. The whole time people were telling me it made them cry I was like come on yall it’s a trailer and we do this everyday 🤣😭
Seeing Idina Menzel live during her run on Wicked makes me extremely bias. Not only did I love the play but I love her singing Defying Gravity and feel like no one does that song justice like her! So I was very skeptical when I heard they were turning it into a movie. But honey, Cynthia is EVERYTHING and so is this trailer!!!! From her gorgeous face shinning through even caked in green makeup and extra long hair (especially the scene with just standing there while Glinda waves her wand), or her incredible voice that gives me chills with those multiple ripples IN ONE BREATH and her acting which makes me think she is a theatre kid because that one second line “you have no real power” was so freaking powerful. I seriously can not take how excited I am for this remake. And I honestly did not think I wold be this excited because I Stan Idina and Kristen. BTW Ariana is coming across as an AMAZING and the prefect Glinda, like she was literally made for this part but I’m just showing praise to my black queen in this comment 🩷
This right here!!!!!!!!!! I love this! The fact that you got to see the original cast is so wild!!!! That’s memories for real!!!!! Thanks for your comment sis!
The movie seems like it's going to be a pretty good interpretation of the musical with serious nods to both Maguire's novel and the 1939 film. I think the novel (more than the musical) hits on themes of manipulating public image for power and it looks like we're definitely going to see some plot lines around that. And the art deco themes are soooo nostalgic.
I think it’s a good change for the casting of Elphaba. I just watched the movie and I was amazed at how she portrayed the character and her singing voice is amazing. I hope you enjoy the movie because I know I did.
If you have not seen the full movie yet, I’m telling you that those tears will flow like this throughout. Took my daughter to see it yesterday morning. I’ll never look at The Wizard of Oz the same again. Cynthia in that role was magical!!!! ❤
no idea how this ended up in my recommended. Didn't like the show and have no interest in seeing the movie but i genuinely TRULY LOVED watching you watch this. Hope this thing ends up exactly what you want it to be.
When the first trailer came out I saw a video where this guy reviewed it and essentially said that the casting was forced diversity and I about LOST MY FUCKING MIND. It absolutely ENFURIATES me to see people disregard the blatant meaning behind the story of Wicked and everything it represents. Having Elphaba be a black woman and ON THE BIG SCREEN is the culmination of everything Wicked should have been and I can't say enough good things about this movie ❤
It’s so crazy bc they did the same thing when Brandy was casted as the black Cinderella on ABC. That cast was soooooooooo diverse and people said it’s not believable. The reason why we create is to create a world we don’t see but we want to see! That’s the meaning of art to me anyway. Thank you for watching
Im right there with you, I cried waychinh this trailer. Ive only seen Wicked once at the ASU gammage theatre snd it gave me so much LIFE! Sadly, some of the other reactions ive seen were shocking to say the least. Some reactors got real nit picky at some aspects of the trailer such as the slight change from the song popular and even more upsetting was that some people had the disgusting opinion that Elphaba shouldnt be played by a black woman, like for real? This looks AMAZING and people shouldnt get themselves all bunched up just yet. Wait until you see the movie ffs! I was initially leery about Arianna Grande playing Galinda but after seeing a small video where it showed her gettimg the call that she got the part of Galinda, she was crying and said she wanted to do the part respectfully and in a seperate segment she just emphasized how important it was for her to do the role as faithful to the source Broadway show. I feel bad because Im spacing on the original Galindas actress's name but you can clearly see how shes trying to do her best to emulate her sound. I am just beyond excited for this to come out and everything from the sets to the costumes look gorgeous. Thank you for your beautiful reaction! Much love!
Cynthia pushed to have hairstyles like micro braids, she knew it was an important part of her story in playing the part of Elphaba. Fun fact - the make up department on the film never created 1 big batch of green make up, so they had to make it every day. Unfortunately it was made up of so many colours, that it was never the exact same shade as the day before!
Some people might say they hate the fact that Elphaba is being play by a black actress but I love it the roll fits her so well , she's a good actress and her voice oh my God it's wonderful and beautiful and I'm not just saying it cause I'm black .Today many black people face criticism for their color and the fact that Cynthia is playing or acting as Elphaba is really connected to how it is in the normal life today .I just wanna say she's beautiful, charismatic and she's got an amazing voice she's just great and awesome and anyone who criticizes her for acting this part because she's black,I just wanna say your foolish for focusing on her color and criticizing her
And some people even dare to say they don't want to watch the movie... well, it's Ariana Grande that's causing this. People think Ariana is so mean and wrecked a family by pulling the husband away, but: 1. That is not what actually happened. The man left the home. Ariana never did anything to seperate the man from the family. She even held their new baby. 2. The information people got was not fully accurate and the website who published this fixed the article with false information. Ariana was just mentioned in the original and there was a seperate article that said the words "colleteral damage". People only pieced them together. Ariana's name was too big. This comment is very random but also one thing: Ariana Grande isn't the only human in this movie. People should watch this because of Cynthia's amazing voice. People just have way too many opinions. I love this movie already!
Thank you for this breakdown!!!!!!!!!! People are so unforgiving of women and slander us with the little bit of info they can get. Mean while men can mess up 1000 times and society says nothing unless they mess up to the extreme. It’s Patriarchy at its finest. I’m extremely happy that these women have this chance to shine.
Just coming back to this after seeing the movie for the second time to say this was_everything_ I hoped it would be and Cynthia Erivo absolutely _killed_ this role. All the haters can pound sand.
I know this video is really old - but I wanted to say that I had just kind of shrugged at the fact they cast a black woman in this role. I didn't really see that it mattered too much (after all the character is green - why would it matter if the actress playing her was black, white, asian). Because I'm an idiot and it didn't really click with me until watching this (before I've seen the movie) that it's actually made BETTER by casting a black woman.
So I am curious....as a professional makeup artist who specifically has done the makeup for Elphaba's character, what do you think of the makeup they did on her in the movie? To me, It looks SO MUCH BETTER than the ugly CGI witch face they did in Oz the Great and Powerful. Yes, she's green and she has the FABULOUS glasses, but it seems like they are still letting her expressions and emotions shine through on her face. Its not fake.
Your reaction made me cry!!!!!!!!

Your reaction was so sweet! 🤗 Thank you for sharing!🙂
Thank you for watching!!!!! I couldn’t believe I was crying! It was like 5 year old me saw all possibilities through seeing Cynthia play this role
Cynthia's amazing and I was SO happy when they announced she was cast. I can't wait to see this.
First of all the trailer and cast was just top notch… but let me just KUDOS to you for working on the makeup of the stage production. Hats off to you!
🩷💚
Thank you my friend! It’s a very gratifying job
Cynthia is such an amazing powerful black woman with a powerful voice, I am so glad a woman talented like her got the part of elphaba.
Yasssss!!! Thank you for your empowering comment
You’re so lucky to have the job you do. What a delight. Love seeing people’s reaction to this trailer because I’m so excited for it. Cynthia is perfect, her voice, her emotion, her makeup, the micro braids!! I can’t stop looking at her hands in the trailer, the makeup and nails are amazing, but the way she uses them to emote! I just cant wait.
I feel so blessed every single day!!!!!!!!!! Cynthia is perfection! I was already a big fan! Now she has a piece of my heart
Representation really matters! Great reaction ❤
It really does!!! It’s sooooo important!
This was such a special reaction. I cried together with you. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to watch this is theatres 🤩
Thank you for sharing this!!!!!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
It’s cool to see someone who was involved with the production react to the new movie! Thanks for sharing!
💚🫶🏾
GET HER AWARD READY!! THIS MOVIE GIVES ME GOOSE BUMPS AND CHILLS SHE THAT GOOD BIG TIME... HER VOICE MY LORD. 😳😳😳
Say that!!!!!!!!!
I’ve watched soooooo many reactions to the trailer and yours is BY FAR the best. Seeing your passion and the pride in your eyes and smile throughout is incredibly inspiring ❤️💚
Thank you! I love what I do and I’m so passionate about seeing POC on stage, behind the stage, on camera and behind the camera. Marginalized communities of ALL backgrounds don’t have as much of a voice as we would like and I’m here to help move the meter in the right direction. That was 5 year old Tish crying… seeing herself on that screen. Seeing that anything is possible.
This reaction made me cry. The fact that a Queer Black Woman is playing this role really does just make it so much more special! ❤
Watching someone feel so seen and get such joy… that’s what it’s all about man I love this
So many people will be seen by this movie. We need this at this point in time. I cry when I watch it too! We’ve waited approx 20 years for this.
With how epic this is it was worth wait!!!!
This movie could and will be a movement!
Without a doubt! Everyone is a key player
I love that trailer!!!! Dope video.
I cried watching you cry 😢💚💗
Oh em geeeeee. I didn’t expect it to hit me like this. I was weeping in the movie theater!
GREAT reaction! Thank you so much for this, and your insight! This movie comes out on my birthday this year, and I couldn't be more excited!
It’s going to be so good! Thank you for commenting and watching. 🙏🏾🫶🏾
Represemtation is so important and I loved your reaction. I was crying with you!
thanks for watching!!!!!!
I also got emotional the firsthand watching it. U can really feel the joy and fun they had making this movie, it has a sparkle in it, which I was missing in resent years
fyi I looove ur look 🙌🏾😊
thank you for the compliment!!! this movie is going to be goooooooood
I love how so many people in general but especially black women will find strenght in Elphaba's strenght
Yesssss! For real!
Your reaction made me cry so much. This movie is amazing
I've been to see it 3 times and each time you end up seeing so much more that you missed before. Just watched a few interviews with Cynthia where she mentioned that all the hair, makeup, nails etc were her choices. They asked her specifically what she wanted and they listened. I love that!
It’s so amazing that she had the confidence to make the choices!!!! This industry doesn’t always empower us to do so. She is opening doors for other actors!
@@TishFergusonBeauty This was one that showed up today for me. I love my algorithm on here is giving me more Wicked content. Hope the link works. ua-cam.com/users/shortswo4iGNM65ls?si=128Cm6sUQBbHQ_ic
The raw emotion in this video from someone whos worked on the stage musical is just stunning and makes me even more excited to go see this
Thank you for your words. This moved me so much
I was also so thrilled and excited
It makes me sad that so few people talk about how Elphaba's prejudice relates to real-life prejudice
I really liked you
New subscribed here ❤
Thank you for these words! I play no games about being real about where we are as a society. Facing the reality is the ONLY way to create change. I’m extremely passionate about being a voice for marginalized on and behind the stage. Thank you for being here! Thank you for subbing! 🫶🏾🫶🏾
Bless you when Elphaba is green anyway this tells me a lot about the intention of this amazing story .. The ladies are fantastic from the trailer and that’s just the trailer ❤️🥰 I was crying with you x
It’s going to be amazing!!!
Ur reaction is so special i love u
Honestly your reaction is eye-opening!
Thank you for taking the time to say that! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I really hope that this movie will be good. That trailer was something, i have watched it multiple time while seeing others react to it and something just feels so special about it.
Im Very Excited!!! 🥰
I’m sooooooo excited
You are the second reaction I’ve seen of this trailer. The first one was Katherine Steele! You must be so proud to work backstage as part of such a beautiful show. Wicked as a middle schooler sparked my love of musical theatre! I’ve waited 17 years for this moment.
I felt the exact same emotions when I first watched the trailer! There is something so extremely special about seeing a black woman especially Cynthia playing Elphaba! I cried like a baby watching this and can’t wait to see the entire movie! I don’t think I’ve been this excited for a movie in a very long time! Thank you for all the work you do in our live theater productions… what an enormously special and important job to have❤️
I haven’t been this excited since brandy was Cinderella!!!!! This is everything. Thank you for watching!
@@TishFergusonBeauty yes ma’am this is everything! I was 16 when Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney came out and I have been a trained dancer since I was 3 so my dance studio owner planned a special night for us to watch it and I was only one of three black girl’s in the studio and we were all so excited and enamored by seeing a black Disney princess! The next year I was given a principal position in our ballet production of Swan Lake and later booked the part of the sugar plum fairy in the Nutcracker! I will never forget the little beautiful black girls coming up to me after the ballet and saying they wanted to dance! I truly wish Thanksgiving was tomorrow lol! I know I’m going to need tissue while watching Cynthia as Elphaba!
@@TishFergusonBeautyAs a 1993 baby whose first exposure to the beauty of racial diversity was Cinderella, I salute you!
I’ve had faith in them both from the beginning
Thank you for watching
Your reaction was so pure and i hear and see you! I cannot wait for this to come out! Thank you! 💜
Thanks friend! Thank you for this!
You made me cry!
Listen I can’t believe I was crying like that 🤣😭🤣😭. The whole time people were telling me it made them cry I was like come on yall it’s a trailer and we do this everyday 🤣😭
I've seen you paint Elphabas on press videos! So cool to see you react to this.
It’s so cool that you responded to this video! Thank youuuuuuuu!!!!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Love You be the best person You Are x
What an absolutely beautiful reaction. ❤
🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 it got me right in the heart lol
Would love to see your reaction to the 2nd trailer!
You know I haven’t seen it so maybe I should! Thanks for the idea!
Whewwww! This breakdown right here!!!! I think we will see the books true purpose shine through in the movie!
After the 2024 Election, I NEEDED Cynthia Erivo and this song!!!! Can't wait to see it. THANKS Tish!!!
When I tell you I SCREAMED and sobbed hysterically 😭😭😭😭
Listennnnnnn
I think it’s a good change for the casting of Elphaba. I just watched the movie and I was amazed at how she portrayed the character and her singing voice is amazing. I hope you enjoy the movie because I know I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie!!!!!!
Saw it last night. It was amazing….. way above expectations, and my expectations were high. ❤
Same! My expectations were soooooo high!
Omigosh... I have watched a LOT of reactions to this trailer, but yours just might be my favorite. 🙂
🙏🏾🫶🏾
This is my favorite reaction to this!!
🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 thank you for watching. This was so raw and vulnerable
If you have not seen the full movie yet, I’m telling you that those tears will flow like this throughout. Took my daughter to see it yesterday morning. I’ll never look at The Wizard of Oz the same again. Cynthia in that role was magical!!!! ❤
I did get to see with my touring company! I posted a review yesterday!
The movie was absolutely perfect and everything was done beautifully! I cried throughout the entire thing. 😂. Going for a 3rd time soon.
I’m the biggest Cynthia fan. Moment her name was on this, I knew I would be throwing my money at this film.
She is EVERYTHING!!!!!!
They used your reaction on the "Wicked" movie channel.
Oh em geeeee! Thank you for letting me know!!!!!!
no idea how this ended up in my recommended. Didn't like the show and have no interest in seeing the movie but i genuinely TRULY LOVED watching you watch this. Hope this thing ends up exactly what you want it to be.
Thank you for this! I hope it is tooooooo!
I loved your reaction! It's really very emotional. +1 subscriber! ❤
Thank you for being here
girl I was crying when you were x
😭😭😭
Much love!
I’ve never seen the plays but this looks amazing
It’s excellent!!!!! My movie review has the thoughts of my friend who never saw the plays. When you see the movie it may be a dope resource
@@TishFergusonBeauty Saw the movie, and it was everything!
Thanks for the fun facts! Wow!
Some people might say they hate the fact that Elphaba is being play by a black actress but I love it the roll fits her so well , she's a good actress and her voice oh my God it's wonderful and beautiful and I'm not just saying it cause I'm black .Today many black people face criticism for their color and the fact that Cynthia is playing or acting as Elphaba is really connected to how it is in the normal life today .I just wanna say she's beautiful, charismatic and she's got an amazing voice she's just great and awesome and anyone who criticizes her for acting this part because she's black,I just wanna say your foolish for focusing on her color and criticizing her
this reaction just made my week
Thank you for watching friend!
“I paint the green girl green” No big deal, just casual, it’s chill 😂
I just chuckled so hard 😭😂😭😂 I’ve learned to be casual about it… but I wasn’t always this way lol
you have me bawling alongside you hahaha
😂😭😂😭 I was so mad I started crying 😭😂
I was tearing up also 😊
It moved me! I’m happy I’m not alone
Girl I still haven't recovered from this trailer
😭😭😭😭😂😂😂
Happy I saw this thumbnail by coincidence. Made me cry, even as a white dude. This was so touching
Awwwww. It’s that powerful. I was shocked I started crying like this 😭
And some people even dare to say they don't want to watch the movie...
well, it's Ariana Grande that's causing this. People think Ariana is so mean and wrecked a family by pulling the husband away, but:
Girl when I tell you I was in shambles in that theatre like full on ugly crying with tissues everywhere 😂
Girl same!!!!!!! Weepinnnnng 😭😂
Yasssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love youuuuuuuuu
This is sooooooo honest! Thank you. I’m blown away by this comment. Thank you for talking the time to do so!
i'm crying too
😩😩😩😂😂😂 I’m like why I’m crying like this 😭😭
We felt the same way watching, just 😭
😂😂😂 just all the tears! I’m like what’s happening 😭😭😭
This is a great question. I would have to see the whole movie to really make a an opinion about it. I feel like I haven’t seen enough
Nice.
Thanks!
I am white as snow. But as a bisexual women - this looks amazing.
I love this musical.

Not you making me cry seeing you crying😭
