No I can haul a 10,000 lbs trailer and 26000 on my truck so combined to 36k legal but I have to de rate the trailer. he gave me a flow chart and explained it all to me in detail because I did not have a clue.
@@user-hv3gj5we5j 26001 is only the magical number if your trailer is over 10k lbs. You can Under CDL with a 26k truck and 10k trailer for a total gross of 36k. I've wondered about the position of the holes on solid pipe. I'd thought putting the holes at 8 and 11 would allow water to enter and you have a solid bottom to keep the water, holes in bottom allow water to exit into the gravel and travel along the stone, so what is the pipe doing that the gravel isn't ?
The pipe gives a void for the water to move uninstructed, the water will choose the path of least resistance as it fills the pipe from the bottom and flow to daylight
Water will fill the bottom of the trench up. So any distance the holes are above the base of the trench, that's how much water will be sitting in the trench. Apple Drains youtube has a demo video on this 'How To Install Perforated Pipe, French Drain for Do It Yourself Job'
I'd be wary of relying on this specific trooper's interpretation. I was told by DOT that it doesn't matter how much you derate a trailer or vehicle to...They're supposed to consider what THE MANUFACTURER specs the vehicle or trailer for from the factory (ie what's on the vwhicle GVCW plate. Otherwise, people would be skating by derating with dmv. I honestly think (unfortunately) it depends on the officer you get and their personal interpretation. It shouldn't be that way, but that's the govt way!
It's crazy, the red tape in North America. Canada and the USA much of it doesn't make sense. Much safer to tow that trailer with the dump truck. Just went through similar type of stuff with the insurance company.
it's not a fix it ticket. It's a Federal Level 1 DOT inspection report and it stays on your "CDL" driving record forever. The inspection is usually performed at a weigh station. This means if you start hauling freight, you already have a ding against your safety record, and your insurance premiums will go up.
Level 1? How bout level 3. The inspection is usually performed when they pull you over when they see you pass by with easy to ticket items. Usually flatbed as thats the easiest. I think you’re wrong with a lot of things.
My state is the same way. The rules with truck and trailer are really strange and not even safe.. I can legally tow a 14K trailer with an F250. I can legally drive an F550. But if I hook the trailer up to the F550 thats not allowed even though an F550 is a safer rig to haul a 14K trailer but .gov would prefer I use the F-250. To make it even more confusing you can hook up a 12,000 pound wood chipper and thats somehow allowed because its "special equipment".
TN has the same CVWR laws. It is federal law. The law changed as to how much weight a dump truck can haul on an interstate. Used to my Triaxle could haul 74000 lbs . The new law has it restricted to 56000 total weight on the interstate and 74000 lbs on non interstate roads. The max for a single axle gross weight is 20000 lbs. You need to check it out. Our law looks like a cut and paste of federal guide lines. Thanks Joe B and Pete B. PS in TN the fine is .10 per pound or in my case $1620.00
About 10 years ago, I was driving a tri-axle KW dump truck loaded with 18 tons of asphalt, and pulling a 32' trailer full of paving equipment. I topped a hill and BAM there was DOT Officer Joe Bloe talking to a log hauler in the center of the highway (US 72 in Mississippi)... He saw me, and tripped over his own two feet bouncing back to his car, letting the log hauler go... A mile later, I was the guy in the center being "talked to"... He put me up on the portable scales, and dialed me in at 100,380 lbs... HE WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!! My boss had to bring Officer Joe Bloe $2950 in CASH - no checks, no MO's, no IOU's, no NOTHING but cold hard cash... He then let me drive away as I was - 100,380 lbs... It REALLY is all about the cash, and safety has been forgotten about...
@@bondobuilt386 ahhh yea. I have an A and im still confused of rules and regs. Its like a grey area they can pick and choose their fines from. Its ridiculous
So I'm confused, why would the F250 be any different than Clifford legal-wise? I'm guessing the GCWR of the F250 is north of 16000lbs, so if you add that to the 14,000lbs GCWR of the trailer, you're still over 26,000lbs GCWR? I'm gonna go talk to a trooper today and try to figure this out because I have a 14K GCWR trailer I want to pull and it seems like I need a CDL based on the insane law.
It’s fuckin stupid ain’t it? I can legally use an old F250 but not my newer F350 without a CDL. Well, I can, but the F350 is farm tagged (no, I’m not doing anything for hire).
I would use ICF on the whole building including the garage also, blocks still has to have cores filed and over time the cinder blocks rot if they are below grade and get wet.
Stupid rule. The dump truck is ten times safer than the 250. The load on the single tires is what causes problems, probably over the rated load for the tires, will cause blowouts from excess heat generated from a much larger contact patch.
I’m not sure that you are allowed to haul a trailer without a CDL with your truck at 26,000. My understanding was that any combo 26,001 or more requires one no matter how it’s distributed. I know a DOT officer just told you otherwise but the next one may think differently. I’m also surprised there was no mention of the name and dot #’s on your door.. it is crazy that you have to use a 3/4 ton to haul a load instead of a far safer bigger dump truck but that is government for you
He doesn't. Need DOT OŔ IFTA STICKER ON HIS TRÙCK BECAUSE 26000 UDER. LOOK IAM A RETIRED DOT OFFICER I KNOW THE LAWS BY THE WAY I WAS FEDERAL DOT OFFICER NOT A STATE OFFICER.
I can see at least 2 more tickets you could have got. 2 chain on the first pilet and a chain or strap on the back . [ note take const. fience and wrip the top of the block then strap . makes for more suquire load. ] we hald brick that way
i remember in ny,just a one hundred dollar fine,i got on portable scale in dover(wingdale),,,loaded to the ass with bank run...barley enough brake to stop on the scales...lol
I’m confused…. If the truck is 26k and your trailer will be registered at 10k, your combined GCWR will be 36k… that combination would require a CDL….no?
You are correct! The GCWR determines weight class as well as CDL requirements. My truck GVW is 13K. My trailer “was” rated for 14K. De-rated the trailer to 13K. Now my GCVW is 26K. Non-CDL. However, if using that combination for work, a CDL medical card is required!
Construction in other areas is much different than it is in Texas . Very interesting to see how it is done in other parts of the US . In Texas we don’t get much freeze . I’m pretty sure water freeze at 60 here in Texas . Today was a brutal 110 degrees
it's not just NY, it's all states. non cdl you can go 26k truck and 10k trailer. or combo under 26k, lets say 12k truck and 14k trailer. every state dot has a flow chart for this it's so simple even a chimp can follow it.
Stop those criminals that don't have all the proper paperwork done with all the Ts crossed and I's dotted but then let the thugs go that are assaulting people, stealing goods, and vandalizing property... Yep sounds about right....
Takes you from a safe towing situation, to an unsafe towing situation, simply to make it within regulations, typical NYS. It’s not like it was a road altering weight you were hauling. A few years ago I hauled 5 pallets of decorative flat rock down from Hammond, 2 pallets at a time, took all back roads, just to avoid this kind of problem. If you had junk equipment, it might be understandable, but you obviously do not. SMH! 😮 The problem they had on 690 a few years ago might be a contributing factor to his decision, that was the other end of this spectrum, someone being foolish with bad equipment.
@@bondobuilt386 It Would be nice if they looked at the situation on a case by case investigation, with a little common sense thrown in for good measure. I don’t know how much discretion they are allowed to make a determination, but putting you in a dangerous situation just to enforce regulations, isn’t the smartest solution if I was asked. Might get a chance to talk to you soon, there’s going to be a large amount of concrete work being done next door, right across the street from one KBI owner, small world. 👍
Imagine that !! Use a smaller truck to tow a heavier trailer because the bigger truck which was more capable and safer needed a different license Just imagine how that makes sense. !!!
You must have pulled onto an interstate or some sort of highway to get pulled over by the DOT. You probably could have made it from your place you loaded the truck at to the construction site had you stuck to surface streets and dirt roads.
But the blacks will allow seepage water into the blocks and after awhile they'll freeze and the block so get destroyed in the concrete slab will sag and and crack It's a must to put away per barrier or a waterproofing membrane overall concrete blocks
Well my house is built in sand in the block walls that hold the garage floor up or crumbling and blowing apart because of the freezing water that got into him because blocks are porous and water can flow through them just like a sponge
can you come to florida and pour me a new driveway and backyard around my pool? You can use my boat and the only issue will be the stacks of geneseee light everywhere you look.
Empty truck registered for 26,000 lbs gown pulling 10,000 lbs gvw trailer is legal none cdl. Don’t get caught with trailer more then 10,000 lbs gross or total gvw over 26,000 lbs. Any vehicle registered over 10,000lbs must go thru weight station except RV
That isn't the case here. Its the combined weight being over 36k. A 26k truck with a 14k trailer would need a cdl. A 26k truck with a 10k trailer does not. 36k is legal without a cdl
DOT has gotten to where like all gov agencies they have way too much power and control. Used to they were only concerned with tractor trailers now they will get a VW pulling a bicycle trailer
Well, lets just vote for someone who will do away with regulation! That way truckers can overload their trucks, tear up our highways, and collapse our bridges. And companies can put cheap, unqualified, and unsafe drivers behind the wheel, not maintain equipment properly, and pocket more profit. Etc, etc...! Don't tread on me!

@@bondobuilt386you are 100 pct wrong the guy is right ,and it’s a federal thing not a state thing
Maybe the truck has a 16k gvwr? So with a 10k trailer, he'd be right at 26k.
how long those dovels are?? spacing every 2 feet?
I've wondered about the position of the holes on solid pipe. I'd thought putting the holes at 8 and 11 would allow water to enter and you have a solid bottom to keep the water, holes in bottom allow water to exit into the gravel and travel along the stone, so what is the pipe doing that the gravel isn't ?
The pipe gives a void for the water to move uninstructed, the water will choose the path of least resistance as it fills the pipe from the bottom and flow to daylight
@@seankirkpatrick8171 Yup good answer
Water will fill the bottom of the trench up. So any distance the holes are above the base of the trench, that's how much water will be sitting in the trench. Apple Drains youtube has a demo video on this 'How To Install Perforated Pipe, French Drain for Do It Yourself Job'
Why did you tile around the garage
Water will damage the wall in the long run.
Glad to see CLIFFORD working. To bad he got pulled over. But no ticket is an awesome day. The Governor
Bondo - how does one get in touch with you about a job?
Bondo, how can I get my “Here Comes the Mud” merch!
It’s not just New York it’s federal law under the fmcsa. Even with the pickup you can’t pull a trailer grossed over 10,000lbs.
It's crazy, the red tape in North America.
Canada and the USA much of it doesn't make sense.
Much safer to tow that trailer with the dump truck.
Just went through similar type of stuff with the insurance company.
Bondo have you ever plumbed the underground and pour the the floor before the walls go up. Good idea or not . Nice information video.
My boss would never let us take our shirts off
I want my guys comfortable they work real hard every day.
any plans to upload in a higher resolution in the future?
I upload in 1080 P and UA-cam downgrades us smaller channels. All my video files are 1080P.
@@bondobuilt386 Appreciate the response. Have a great week!
@@mattdalton6573 No problem Thanks
Yeah, too bad road safety keeps getting in the way. If I use the road I try to understate rules. Bless. Stay safe.
it's not a fix it ticket. It's a Federal Level 1 DOT inspection report and it stays on your "CDL" driving record forever. The inspection is usually performed at a weigh station. This means if you start hauling freight, you already have a ding against your safety record, and your insurance premiums will go up.
That is not what the officer said.
Level 1? How bout level 3. The inspection is usually performed when they pull you over when they see you pass by with easy to ticket items. Usually flatbed as thats the easiest. I think you’re wrong with a lot of things.
Could u have went and took the 2 pallets out of the truck then went back and got the trailer?
My state is the same way. The rules with truck and trailer are really strange and not even safe.. I can legally tow a 14K trailer with an F250. I can legally drive an F550. But if I hook the trailer up to the F550 thats not allowed even though an F550 is a safer rig to haul a 14K trailer but .gov would prefer I use the F-250. To make it even more confusing you can hook up a 12,000 pound wood chipper and thats somehow allowed because its "special equipment".
Same thing here in New York. so stupid though.
@@bondobuilt386 Mount a wood chipper on your trailer?
How is this better than a solid concrete wall up to finished grade?
its insulated.
If you had a class A. Would you be good?
Yes
I derated my trailer for registration just to knock the fee down. every now and then I think about going over it but I never do. too paranoid
I would use ICF on the whole building including the garage also, blocks still has to have cores filed and over time the cinder blocks rot if they are below grade and get wet.
We will have a good drain and backfill with stone.
Not if you use the right sealer. They will seal the walls.
I wonder what the rest of the tickets he wrote were for?
I actually got no tickets.
They are gonna need a shit ton of fill inside the garage and around the outside of the basement to meet frost requirements.
Not to bad its only a crawl space.
Suprized to see no dot numbers on dump truck.
Wow. Bizarre rules. In Australia I think you would have been just fine.
Stupid rule. The dump truck is ten times safer than the 250. The load on the single tires is what causes problems, probably over the rated load for the tires, will cause blowouts from excess heat generated from a much larger contact patch.
Ny state pooping on people day. I put a f-350 axle springs and air bags on my 6.2 gas f-250. Little to no squat when towing my dump trailer
So stupid to have to do that.
Junk yard makes it cheap lol
] we hald brick that way
Good idea 👍
About time you got caught. I would have dropped serious fines on you.
i remember in ny,just a one hundred dollar fine,i got on portable scale in dover(wingdale),,,loaded to the ass with bank run...barley enough brake to stop on the scales...lol
This fool says I think I'm pretty good right now but not with his truck so you're not pretty good right now....
I’m confused…. If the truck is 26k and your trailer will be registered at 10k, your combined GCWR will be 36k… that combination would require a CDL….no?
Nope I could haul that 36K legal. real confusing.
You don’t think you should vibrate that in a lil bit?
Does the customer have to pay you for filming also
Construction in other areas is much different than it is in Texas . Very interesting to see how it is done in other parts of the US . In Texas we don’t get much freeze . I’m pretty sure water freeze at 60 here in Texas . Today was a brutal 110 degrees
You're an outlaw! 😂
I lived in NY State for a short time and I hated it the law are misted up I will never go back to that state again for no amount of money
it's not just NY, it's all states. non cdl you can go 26k truck and 10k trailer. or combo under 26k, lets say 12k truck and 14k trailer. every state dot has a flow chart for this it's so simple even a chimp can follow it.
He didn't say anything about no DOT numbers?
I live in MN (democrat state like NY) been through this BS before. If you own a dump truck it’s probably time for a class a
Such a pleasure doing business in New York State.
You will probably need a CDL if your business grows
Surprised you didn’t drive black truck up to get the trailer
Matt the black truck is a 3500 so I can't haul the trailer with it without a CDL. LOL
@@bondobuilt386 oh ya. Going off gross that would make you heavier. Man that’s so dumb. This state sucks
Some of those laws make absolutely no sense! Government at its finest
how nutty. underweight, but yada yada. You Da MAN! Bondo!!
Stop those criminals that don't have all the proper paperwork done with all the Ts crossed and I's dotted but then let the thugs go that are assaulting people, stealing goods, and vandalizing property... Yep sounds about right....
hard to make sense of that bud
Intelligence of state officials.
You probably would have rolled thru the weight station unless they stopped to check your license.
Well, a lot of traffic laws are more about driving revenue than safe driving.
Not that it matters to me, but I would have thought the DOT would have questioned the tie down on those blocks?
Ya I should have took back roads. LOL
Use a smaller truck to tow a heavier trailer because the bigger truck which was more capable and safer needed a different license
Just imagine how that makes sense. !!!
You must have pulled onto an interstate or some sort of highway to get pulled over by the DOT. You probably could have made it from your place you loaded the truck at to the construction site had you stuck to surface streets and dirt roads.
Yes I agree. Lesson learned by me.
120👍's up BB thank you for sharing
But the blacks will allow seepage water into the blocks and after awhile they'll freeze and the block so get destroyed in the concrete slab will sag and and crack
It's a must to put away per barrier or a waterproofing membrane overall concrete blocks
@@scotthultin7769 Proper drainage is what you need with block walls.
Well my house is built in sand in the block walls that hold the garage floor up or crumbling and blowing apart because of the freezing water that got into him because blocks are porous and water can flow through them just like a sponge
@@scotthultin7769 Definitely no drainage around it. Gotta keep a block wall dry and it will last a long time.
What do you mean they're not going to put a floor in it they're going to put a spray-foam over it
The crawl space will just have spray foam on the floor with no concrete.
can you come to florida and pour me a new driveway and backyard around my pool? You can use my boat and the only issue will be the stacks of geneseee light everywhere you look.
LOL sounds good if I had time.
That's so ridiculous. There's no common sense in these laws. You should show this video to the NY DOT
Soon as you put that trailer on that truck now with the load and everything you need a class A drivers license😊
insane. makes no sense.
HE DOESN'T NEED A CDL FOR A SINGLE AXLE TRÙCK.
Go around those stops at all cost
for sure
you need to put a Rebar in garage m8 be safe
So it's safe to tow it with a pickup but not with a truck that has alot better braking abilities
You should have new that but I bet you did you got lucky could have been a lot of money
The State Police or PUCO in all states have ramped it up on the 26,001 pound rule over the past couple of years now.
