The new Gen 2 YakGear outriggers help you feel safe and secure in your kayak or canoe by utilizing the stabilizing effects of the re-designed floats. Stability while paddling is a problem for some paddlers. Whether you are standing to sight cast at fish, traversing through choppy waters, or paddling with the kids, the YakGear Outrigger system provides a more comfortable paddling experience. The YakGear Outriggers provide an easy to install safety net for everything from rocking back and forth to toppling into the water. This set comes with (2) outriggers, one for the port, and one for the starboard side of your watercraft. The adjustable outrigger arms are 30 inches long and will provide a float base roughly 22 inches from the port and starboard side of the boat. The outriggers are attached by using a RAILBLAZA StarPort base mounted to the boat. The outriggers can be removed at any time making your watercraft easy to transport, leaving only the RAILBLAZA base. The adjustable outrigger arms can be raised independently if you are getting close to a dock or other obstruction. Installation placement of the outriggers may be mounted in the front or rear of your watercraft. The included floats have pre-installed threading (1/4 x 20 brass insert) to mount a RAILBLAZA StarPort HD (included) directly to the float, which is used to connect to the outrigger arms; and a RAILBLAZA MiniPort base (not included) on your float, giving you the ability to mount another RAILBLAZA StarPort accessory of your choice (amazing camera angles using the Railblaza Camera Kit or Camera Adaptor). These outriggers can attach to a canoe by using a piece of Hardie board (not included). These outriggers are best for total weights under 350 pounds. As always, this complete kit comes with all stainless steel installation hardware, installation instructions, and rigging tips from YakGear.

Without a plate underneath the side deck and SS bolts fitted/bolted through I wouldn't trust these to not work there way out, actually better too with a full width brace for extra strength.
You had a lined out floor with what looks like vinyl floor covering, I'd have lined the bow and stern with that then the outriggers with the lines also: I'm sure most houses or yards have some sort of lined/paved/decked floor to work off to line things up properly rather than by eye alone.
Anyway, the floats themselves seem fine.

Like when truing up a recumbent trikes front wheels.. measure the front of the rims (front of the float) and match that measurement to the rear of the wheel (rear of the float. Then measure the center of the front of the boat to the front of the float. (match it) That will give you parallel .

If only it was that easy. The notches for the up and down adjustment is either too high or too low. Just got these in the mail and already feel like returning them.

Will these install on a Scotty low profile track? Those came on my pelican rebel 100xp and I'm wondering if I could install these on them

Anybody out there know if these work well for sea going stability on a OT big water 13.2? It's a heavy kayak and I am not sure if the floats are bit on the underpowered side. Would how the the side arms are attached stand up for to flexing on the RB inserts? Sure look like they are fine on lighter kayaks/lake use, but I would love to hear if anybody has salty experience on a heavy yak?

How much flex this will do on the body of the kayak. I'm afraid it will crack the kayak😬

They look good except for the railblaizer attachment point. I would be very surprised if these did not fail during a real tipping incident. Feel free to post a video proving me wrong!

So you reckon they would break at the RB mounts? I have RB mounts only OT Bigwater 132, and they see strong enough, but I haven't stressed them hard in the way big pressure on a rig arm might. Of course depending on the yak, you only need a relatively small amount of force to stop most yaks going over, unless you're in very rough seas indeed. This set would probably act as a good stabiliser to allow you to stand up in a decent sized kayak, and prevent any yak that would have otherwise got push passed the tipping g point if the outrigger wasn't fitted.

Will these fit my pelican catch pwr 100? I do have the 2.5 Suzuki outboard, but I do like to stand to see, and cast. Thank you. Stay safe

What are the pros and cons of running this setup in the front vs the middle or closer to the rear? Have an Ascend 133X for fishing that I’m considering a set of this to add extra stability and for light offshore days. I have a bow mounted trolling motor and I feel the front could use some extra stability but don’t want to loose casting area.

I second this question. The lack of a response make me question if they just want us to buy the front and back mounts (whichever is not on). Idk, but I would like a nice answer to this question. My thought have also been around the weight distribution of the kayak

Hi, I’m a fan of yak gear products, curious if you would recommend these for use with a hobie revo 11 with sail kit. I like the adjustability and implementation of this kit better than the hobie kit, but I’m worried the stress under sail might be a bit much for these single arm attachments (the hobie has a pole between the arms). Have these been tested with a sail kayak? Thanks!
