Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- This video continues from last week. We leave Wheaton Aston and cruise our Narrowboat floating home down to the end of the Shroppie and make our way along the Staffs & Worcester canal to Penkridge. We cruise through some awful weather. We meet up with friends too. There are some really narrow parts and we also see another Rhapsody!
Hope you enjoy! xx 😃

A perfectly relaxing start to our Sunday! That was very wet ☔️😳❤️❤️
Aww thanks guys ❤️🥰 haha, we were proper soaked through! 🤣 xx
Martin is funny. Laughter makes it interesting, and fun. Keep laughing you too.
Aww yes, Martin does make me chuckle, I never quite know what he’s going to do when I point the camera his way lol 😂 xx
So much gorgeous scenery, it is so relaxing to watch. But most importantly I love your sense of fun and the affection that you have for each other. Such an enjoyable video.

Hi Julie & Martin, thank you for sharing another beautiful cruise. The weather was wet, but the scenery was still stunning. We took that route to Penkridge in May 2022. Thanks again, Bryan & Donna
Hiya Bryan & Donna, it is a lovely stretch of canal, it was a shame the weather was playing up, but like you say, the scenery is beautiful! Hope you’re both well, thanks again xx
Another lovely Vlog and well done you two for travelling in that weather 😂❤❤👏👏👏
Thanks Jacqueline, it was so cold and once that rain got through we just had to stop, couldn’t believe they’d just cut the grass lol 🤪🤦♀️ xx
What a beautiful boat you have.. Sits so nicely in the canal so well balanced.
The scenery is spectacular even if the weather is not playing ball.
I can only imagine that Martin sleeps with one eye open as I do for comments made to the trouble and strife 😮
Hi Nick, aww thank you for the lovely compliments 🥰 The weather that day was awful, but even in the pouring rain you’re right, the scenery still looks beautiful! Not long now eh, you all ready?! When do you fly over? xx
Really enjoyed your journey down and off the Shroppie, one of my fav canals ❤ happy belated wedding anniversary 😊 great that you show it's not all sunshine and roses and sometimes it gets rather moist 😂 woohoo Julie the tiller girl ❤

Great vlog. That misty cruise looks so beautiful - probably not the best to cruise in but as a spectator it was wonderful! Lovely when the sun came out too - so many gorgeous reflections.
Hope you enjoyed you anniversary. Belated congratulations! 🥂
Aww thank you Mishka, can’t believe we celebrated doing our laundry lol 😂 That misty cruise was lovely, so peaceful and a lot warmer when the sun came out! Thanks! xx

That was a great vlog, congrats on your anniversary 🥂
Thank you Barb, much appreciated xx
Hi Julie and Martin firstly I just wanted to thank you both for such an informative and enjoyable collection of videos you are sharing, I would like to ask a questions, what is the book called you were referring to in this particular video, I’m eventually going to get my own boat and I’m trying to absorb as much information as possible before hand 😊 please keep doing your fabulous vlog I am completely hooked on it ❤ best wishes to you both, Emma xx
Hi Emma, thank you so much, really lovely to have you onboard! 😃 The map guide I was using was one of the Pearson Canal Companion books. There are two main sets of map guides, the Pearsons and the Nicholson Waterways Guides, I prefer the Pearsons, but many prefer the Nicholsons, we do have both lol. They are easily found in most Chandlers, they do books for each specific canal or river, or some have a route, like the Four Counties Ring. Hope this helps. Hopefully we’ll see you out on the cut one day! 😃 xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB Hi, thanks for the response, I look forward to seeing you both one day 😊 xx
Lovely vlog, I can’t believe I had my washing out!!! Good job I left the ‘smalls’ inside lol 😂
Aww thank you, I did check for ‘smalls’ before putting it out there lol👍😃 Thanks! xx

Aww thank you Lilo, lovely to have you with us xx
Hello! Julie & Martin when u go under a bridge do u have to duck? I love seeing the weeping willows.
Hi Terry, no most of the time the bridges are high enough that you don’t need to duck, but there are the occasional very low bridges that you do. Thanks! xx
Love watching all your content guys. Silly question, but how come you travel on the right hand side of the canal when passing other boats ?
Hi Jim, so lovely to have you with us! It’s an International thing, in all countries, all waters, rivers, canals, you travel on the right. Thanks Jim xx
New to your channel.
I know of you both because you are friends with Heidi and Gary.
Please could you answer my questions. On the roof of your boat I see an internet signal box and television dish ?
Are they successful in their respective jobs and work effectively
What are their makes and what power supplies do you need for them.
Many thanks.
Hi David, our internet antenna is a Poynting Imni-directional antenna, which is wired to the Huawei router and we’re on EE. We can usually get a decent signal in most places. With regards to the ‘dish’ that’s actually a TV aerial. Unfortunately we don’t know the name or make, as it was already on the boat when we got her and there doesn’t appear to be a name on it! It works ok, some places have a better signal than others, but mostly it’s ok. These all run on 12volts. Hope this helps, thanks David xx
Love your videos. A question from someone who has never been on a narrow boat, when you go through those really tight sections does the boat self center with the water pressure on either side of the hull or do you still need to guide her through?
Hi Mick, no you do have to steer the boat, or you would hit the sides, but narrowboats do stay on course, so as long as you keep your hand on the tiller, there shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks Mick xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB Many thanks.
Do they charge you for water and to pump out your sewage?
The water and rubbish disposal is all part of our canal boat licence, and if you have cassette toilets, then the Elsan disposal is also free. However, we have a pumpout loo, which we pay around £20 to have emptied every 4-6 weeks. Thanks! xx
