Q J be interesting to see how many cars they sell then if most people can’t afford them and it’s better than a Tesla in every way apart from the charging network 👊🏻
It mainly is because of its weight but yeah you sadly are right. Also it lacks a launch control which really makes it around 0.5 sec slower. Just compare a launch control in any other car vs a launch without it you lose tons of time
@@marlac5500 it puzzles me why they didn't add launch control to the Polestar. I would've thought a sub-4 sec 0-60mph time would've been a bit of a holy grail. And, if LC can shave a few _tenths_ of a second off the acceleration time, it would've got them there. Not least also because launch could then just be another aspect of the driving experience that can be electronically controlled and managed by the car's systems. Rather than trying to recreate 'launch control' conditions manually _(ie. standing on both pedals and releasing the brake without LC for a fast start)_ potentially damaging the vehicle.
Tbh I will never afford any of these three. I mean I could theoretically save up the money in a few years. But I've got more important things to spend that kind of money on than a car...
Taycan, gets way more than 200 miles range. That's been shown over and over again by a litany of reviewers so far. And Electrify America Rapid chargers will not be crowded in comparison. And you don't need to charge it to 100%, if you can charge it to 80% in half the time. The Porsche's sound is not "synthesized" as well. It's the actual electric motor noise amplified and tuned. Nonetheless, thanks for the review of these three great cars.
The EPA are independant they have said it gets 191 miles on a charge. They have been the standard that EVERY single electric car has been using. Why would we turn around and say their standard is now wrong? Do we also say that every other electric car gets more than their EPA claimed range? Ofcourse not. The Taycan has terrible efficiency but thats usually what happens when you build a car with the purpose of being fast and sporty driving dynamics
@@supaahflyy I'll do so for him. The EPA tests have some basic flaws, - most notably the 70% factor which assumes every electric car suffers the same level of range degradation when operating in extreme temperatures. Remember also that the EPA test doesn't measure range. It measures consumption over a quite short (and artificial) driving scenario, then extrapolates range based on the measured consumption and assumes identical efficiency as the battery is depleted. So, if you build an EV with linear SOC performance and one that is largely unaffected by temperature (the ideal EV really) then the EPA test will knobble you. Secondly, EVERY other EV tested under the EPA's regime produces real-world, independent test results within a reasonable percentage of the EPA. 8-10% is average. The independent tests of the Taycan are regularly producing results 25-30% better. Some journalists have conducted their performance tests (repeatedly) and driven the car hard the rest of the time and still haven't been able to get range as low as the EPA. Something is wrong with the number. I'm sure it will be corrected at some point, but in the meantime, disregard it. It's bogus. At least for the Taycan. I mean, any high-end car has some kind of sound engineering to it, Rolls Royce even has sound engineers for the closing sound of the door, or the tap of a physicall button
That's BS. The Taycan has two ECUs for the e-sound, that work even without the transmission even plugged into the network. I know that because those things make a ton of noise when the car is configured wrong or when it loses connection to the gateway it can start whining too, happens when you flash the gateway software for example. We just unplug the speakers when we do that on the test rig.

The Polestar isn't really a good example of a hybrid GT car, as it's quite easy to tell it's just a posh Volvo. It's still a nice car, but it isn't made to go Banzai fast like the other two, it's meant to cruise. I don't really know what you'd replace it with however. Anyone know any V6 GT hybrids?
The Taycan S is amazing, but your stats about the gt63s are wrong. The car does 0-60 mph in about 3.2 seconds. Yes that four door is that fast. This car is truly special doing 0-60 faster than supercars that weigh much less.
I do twice a year to and from my house in France, which is why I have a Panamera e-Hybrid. In an 800 mile journey I would probably need to stop and charge 4 times, which is just not practical.
Leslie Kay well I do, I regularly drive from the uk to Barcelona to get a ferry to the Menorca, overnight ferry to France (Portsmouth-Caen) then 754 miles in 12 hours to catch next ferry, I drive my GT car, Volvo XC90 with windsurfers on the roof, I have done this route in my Fiat Sidici and beat a Ferrari to Barcelona, we got of the ferry together and he roared into the distance, we spotted each other a couple of times with his shocked face when we got to Barcelona, he was there for F1 Grand Prix, he’d had to stop more times than me for fuel, so your right what is a GT car, well not these three
I do as well every time I can and its feasible - airlines and airports suck not to mention horrendous car parking charges... travelling by car is a pleasure I have had since a kid with my parents and I have carried it on without regrets
The Polestar 1 is incredibly unremarkable at everything. Exterior is beautiful but after that, it's not competitive in any category. The glass in the trunk, taking up useful space is a bit daft as well. I'm personally still going for the V8 sound even though the Mercedes looks like a melted milk dud outside. The Taycan is remarkable and would not knock someone else picking that over the AMG GT. I just like the engine sound of a V8
Anybody notice how ridiculously long and complicated some of these car names have become? Mercedes AMG GT 63S 4 door. In Spain it's called the Mercedes AMG GT 63S 4MATIC+ 4 door.
The Polestar 1 has a Carbon Fibre shell and body panels, not steel/aluminum as normal Volvo's. They had to do that when they switched the car from being a gas-powered Volvo S90 Coupe to the performance-oriented Polestar 1 because of the weight of the additional batteries required to produce the desired 600hp.
@Lutho Dweba The S90 Coupe was nearing production four years ago. Lead designer Thomas Ingenlath convinced Volvo to set up Volvo’s electric cars as a spinoff company called Polestar named after its performance brand which they already had a copyright for and launch what was supposed to be the S90 Coupe as the Polestar 1 as the lead product of the new brand. Volvo liked the idea so much, they appointed Thomas the CEO of the fledgling Polestar brand. So, sure, the S90 Coupe officially didn’t make it into mass production, but it did, in fact, exist within the walls of Volvo as a full production car until Thomas flipped its badge to Polestar and redesigned it under the skin for electrification - delaying the launch of the car by almost 4 years, jacking up its price significantly and forcing Polestar to produce it in very limited numbers compared to the mass market volume it was hoping to produce by releasing the car as a lower cost S90 Coupe. Only time will tell as to whether this was a smart move by Thomas.
I don’t mind the idea of *amplifying* the sound of an electric motor, and neither should anyone else. After all - what’s an electric guitar but the amplified sound of an acoustic guitar. *However* - I do object to the bogus mp3 music being piped through the stereo. And not only is this done with electric cars - but it is also done with ICE vehicles to create more ‘pleasing’ fart noises. That’s every bit as phony as the phony sounds from some electric vehicles.
Acoustics-wise, the Taycan Turbo S makes the naturally aspirated, big-bore V8 accompaniment, for the age. I think we'll pontificate in decades to come how the Taycan was the first EV with notable, developed soundtrack. Although Elon would probably disagree _(for publicity alone, no doubt, whether valid or not!)._
Who knows what polestar was thinking using a fwd 4-cylinder platform. It looks so good, all they had to do was add a high revving V8 or V10 driving the rear wheels and electric motors for each front wheel. Big miss on Volvo's part. Saddening.
Thank God we dont have the UK regulations here in Dubai .. electric cars are light years away from being as reliable and usable as the normal petrol powered vehicles, if you want a GT it has to be able to cover long distances in short period of time , not set and wait for its batteries to get filled .. if this is the future porsche and other electric manufacturers suggest i would rather stick to big old V8’s .
I don't really like the GT 63 4dr because a) it does not look anything as nice as the AMG GT Coupe that it is supposedly based on / inspired by and b) They have the CLS already. Where does it leave that?
If the government followed public opinion them we'd be keeping internal combustion cars. Only the vociferous lentil weavers want 100% electric cars. The hybrid car is the sensible compromise, with electric-only operation in urban areas. Smaller, full-electric vehicles can be ideal for urban-only use where range is not critical.
That's pretty funny. If the Polestar costed around 20-30k, sure it could be meant for those who don't take things too seriously. I doubt it costs anywhere near that price range. Up in the 6 figure pricing, by definition, the customers are people who take things seriously, so Polestar will have a target market of about 2 people....yeah on earth.
Don't even understand why you included the gt63s in this video, they basically just read off the spec sheet for the first 2 mins of the video then spent the other 12 minutes talking about the other cars.
Not that I want to be rude, but the Zoe I tried last year sounded even more sci-fi than this Tycan Turbo S (beat the Peugeot Expert at the stupidest car name, I mean not the Taycan part of it, obviously !). Plus it's as fugly from the front (thanks to this badly shaped headlights) as it is gorgeous from the back ! The polestar, on the other hand looks absolutely fantastic from any angle (despite quite poorly, when compared to the rest, designed rear lamps). From some angles, I even found myself saying that is it what the Aston Martin Rapide should have been. The Merc is outdated, and already was years before any of the other two came around.
Cars like the tacan are the future, like it or not Don’t think we are there yet though, we need gen 2 batteries with a higher charge density, this will answer two issues range and weight of which both compromise the experience Head says Tacan Heart says AMG

Who actually does this ''GT cross country travelling''. This is just a bust myth.
I did once from Ramsgate to Kaiserslautern
Well not at the moment obviously in case you get locked at your destination due to the virus !
only problem problem with the Porsche is no sunroof. Panamera glass is nice and all but I would definitely give that up for a sunroof!
How many people do long distance traveling?
Woah wasn’t expecting that at all.
Anybody notice how ridiculously long and complicated some of these car names have become? Mercedes AMG GT 63S 4 door. In Spain it's called the Mercedes AMG GT 63S 4MATIC+ 4 door.
If you have sleep problems, listen to this guy
🤣🤣🤣 i do
Anybody knows what road is it and where? Thanks!
Arnau TERRIBAS FERNANDEZ Route Napoleon, north of Grasse.
Wait for the HYBRID AMG GT in a few month.. over 800 HP !!
Why bother? The Porsche is just too good for the Mercedes.
EKO Why bother? I’d still buy the petrol powered car. Why would I care for some more HP at the cost of so much more weight?
Not likely. They'll detune the v8 or stick a v6 in it.
Its an High Performance Hybrid.. Much faster than an GT63s..
@@stubones No.. still a V8
The Volvo isn't only heavy because of the powertrain. Volvos are always heavy because of their steel/aluminum blend.
@@dash-ryan S90 coupe? No such thing
A bit like Luke Skywalker's Land-speeder Hover-car mixed with a Humpback Whale song is spot on.
Clearly an unpopular opinion. But k? I guess.
Summer Tyme I couldn’t imagine caring about any of what you’re saying in 2020.
Tony Bland 8 upvotes later. If you don’t care about my opinion as a car buyer who owns a Tesla then - ok. 🤷♀️ Hope your arrogance works out for you.
Is this taken in beautiful croatian jadranska magistrala?
No. France.
The Polestar does look good in a subtle 'easy-cool' kinda way, but it absolutely does not look like the kind of car you'd drop £140,000 on!
Im a porsche guy but i still would get the merc cause it has a v8
It's ugly to me tho.
🤣🤣
Kamal LB Sameee. Even in the flesh it just looks bulky and odd. And it’s also TALL.
Kamal LB looks wayy better in person, trust me. I thought it was ugly till I saw it in person.
Who knows what polestar was thinking using a fwd 4-cylinder platform. It looks so good, all they had to do was add a high revving V8 or V10 driving the rear wheels and electric motors for each front wheel. Big miss on Volvo's part. Saddening.
I saw at least 5 Stuttgart registered Porsche Taycan with Porsche AG labels on them yesterday, one of which a wagon!
Taycan Cross Turismo, supposed to be officially introduced this year.
@@wermagst Aha, ok.
I've got 30 toilet rolls and 10 hand sanitiser gells, il trade them for the GT63s
Fifty years from now when we’ll have self charging Road, charge your car as you drive sort of, so cars like Taycan and the Polestar might exist.
The Taycan looks so sleek compared to other big 4 doors, definitely my current favourite
Except those back seats are totally useless compared to others like the amg
@@HypnOlli what!? When. Whoa?
Taycan probably the best car ever built - a masterpiece of technology. I still need some time with the design though...
Please make a video of the 2020 Shelby GT 500
I don't really like the GT 63 4dr because
a) it does not look anything as nice as the AMG GT Coupe that it is supposedly based on / inspired by and
b) They have the CLS already. Where does it leave that?
I must be the only one that thinks the Polestar 1 looks weird. The design works on the bigger S90 and S60, but shortened it looks off.
Nice cars & nice watches.
I am so in love with the GT63
That Polestar has a £40,000 Volvo interior. Nice for £40,000 but not £140,000.
That's pretty funny. If the Polestar costed around 20-30k, sure it could be meant for those who don't take things too seriously. I doubt it costs anywhere near that price range. Up in the 6 figure pricing, by definition, the customers are people who take things seriously, so Polestar will have a target market of about 2 people....yeah on earth.
waiting for that digital guage cluster from the Taycan to trickle down to other Porsches especially the 911
Don't even understand why you included the gt63s in this video, they basically just read off the spec sheet for the first 2 mins of the video then spent the other 12 minutes talking about the other cars.
Is the audio piped in to the porsche a shepard tone?
I think so - or a variant. That's what Jag used in the iPace.
Cars like the tacan are the future, like it or not
Don’t think we are there yet though, we need gen 2 batteries with a higher charge density, this will answer two issues range and weight of which both compromise the experience
Head says Tacan Heart says AMG
Love the blue pullover sweatshirt with Polestar's yellow seatbelt crossing over it. Was it a coincidence or some cheeky thinking?
