    Great information in the description. kinetic link: your legs rotate then stop, then your hips rotate and stop, then you upper body. until finally your forearm and racquet finishes the motion like the cracking of a whip

    Hello, thanks for awesome tips :) Do you think its necessary to specifically train the muscles involved in pronation of your arm for more power in your smash? E.g., pronator teres and pronator quadratus or will these muscles naturally get stronger as i play? (I picked up badminton 2 years ago im 26)

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 років тому +2

      For long term physical health, it seems like keeping our small muscles strong when they are used together with larger muscle groups such as rotator cuff. I don't think it is necessary to train the muscles involved in pronation of the forearm but definitely more beneficial

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  6 років тому

      Depends on your shoulder mobility and in case of having an extended wrist and neutral wrist, I am still figuring out all the benefits and downsides to both. But from what I can understand a extended wrist would ulitize the flexion of the wrist more whereas the neutral wrist would utilize the forearm pronation more. Men tends to have neutral wrist and also flexion in the wrist gives significant less power than forearm pronation. We can do both but not to the same extend for both. In terms of which way the racket head face I would have it face more towards the side with neutral wrist and shoulder retracted as much as possible meaning opening up the chest. Probably would do a high detailed analysis on this in the future 🙏

      THE MOMENT, i used forearm pronation instead of swining my arm like a wannabe, everything changed and power and steepness came like 2nd nature; granted it will take time to fully develop with accuracy but give it a shot, it truly is the key; NO WRIST FLEX, WRIST PRONATION INSTEAD.

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  6 років тому

      Thank you Alan.
      Both. With neutral wrist and a pronation our arm cannot be vertical and expect maximum power output. There should be a small angle in the elbow and a relative larger angle in the hand. This means that the racket head at impact can be above the shoulder, the other shoulder (around the head) and to the other side, in which case the racket is vertical

    hey ! great vid once again, can you explain in more detail why we should fast exhale and hold our breath when we hit? thx for the great content :)

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  6 років тому +6

      Same as when we want fast force output when in lifting something heavy. We exhale for more force and hold the breath for stability in body and core

    do i have to keep my racket up high? or can i keep it a little bit low

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  6 років тому

      You don't have to keep it high but keeping it high is a good habit for consistency and power. Also as we improve we want a smaller swing so our opponent cannot read our shots. Keeping racket low will change the pace of your swing up until the impact with the shuttle. Opponent will pick up on that

      Badminton System Oh and one last question why do i keep missing the shuttle cock when going for a smash or clear i either hit too early or too late

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  6 років тому

      Don't try and hit it with power. Just and hit it 10/10 then hit harder and so on

      apart from the usefull tip Badminton Family gave you, the best way to improve striking consistency is to practice a lot and very hard.
      in my case, seeing improvement, such as hitting good backhand clears is really motivating and rewarding.
