    BUSAN is a food paradise and when you visit there are a number of dishes you have got to EAT. We take you on a STREET FOOD tour of Busan’s famous foods…
    We eat:
    Eomuk
    As a port city Busan is famous for its eomuk or fishcakes. There are countless street vendors selling this popular snack including tricked up versions featuring sausages, cheese and shellfish. Street food vendors selling fish eomuk are all over the city, otherwise Samjin are the most popular, commercialised eomuk eatery in Korea.
    Yubu Jeomoni
    These fried tofu bags stuffed with glass noodles and julienned vegetables are a firm winter favourite. Served in a warming broth the tofu soaks up the flavoursome soup and helps beat away those chills. Look out for these at the street carts in BIFF Square.
    Milmeyon
    Milmyeon or wheat noodles are a popular dish to eat in summer when they are served cold. Chewy noodles languish in an icy cold broth (sheets of ice are added to the broth) together with cucumber, pear, slices of beef and a dollop of gochujang sauce. It might not be the most ideal thing to be eating in the winter time but it sure is tasty! We ate at at Halmae Gaya Milmyeon, 부산광역시 Jung-gu, Gwangbok-dong, Gwangbok-ro, 56-14. Open daily 10:15am to 9:30pm.
    Dwaeji Gukbap
    Pork rice soup- a dish that’s said to be hard to find outside of Busan. Pork bones are boiled for long hours before soy, rice wine and other aromatics are added to the broth. The resulting milky broth is served with thinly sliced pork and rice as a watery porridge with a dollop of gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) to which fermented, salted shrimp, garlic, kimchi, garlic chives and ssamjang can be added. Delicious and hearty! We ate at Pohang Dwaeji Gukbap, 25, Seomyeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan 47286.
    Ssiat Hotteok
    This Korean seed pancake is totally addictive. A glutinous rice flour dough is stuffed with a sugar and cinnamon mixture before being shallow fried in a pan of butter or oil. Once golden and crispy it’s cut open and filled with pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds. As you bite into the hotteok the cinnamon sugar oozes out. You can find ssiat hotteok all over Busan including at BIFF Square, Gukje Market and street vendors in Seomyeon.
    Seafood feast
    Jalgachi Fish market is the biggest seafood market in Korea. It’s a bustling, exciting place to visit and spend a couple of hours watching the vendors selling and customers buying every type of seafood imaginable. On the outskirts of the market are a number of restaurants serving fried fish lunch sets.

      +Thomas...from your videos, Korea, and esp Busan looks like a real food heaven...esp the seafood galores...enjoy watching both of you enjoying the fun and delicious foods in cold temperature and in thick warm jackets ... The cold but bright setting at times in the video makes it look really like a heaven...bright light but cool

      Totally re Busan! It was such an easy city to get around, because of the smaller size than Seoul, and the food was incredible! So much seafood! We had the most amazing weather while in South Korea. Almost every day was nothing but blue sky and sunshine. Very cold but so perfect! We got a bit of snow while there also which was fun. Watch out for that on an upcoming video 😀

    What a mamoth food hunt day and a treat to see so many yummy stuff in Busan. Heck how did you eat that fish meal after eating that Pork rice soup! That had it all going on a meal and a half in a bowl. I loved how as you added the salted shrimp, soyabean paste, noodles, chives etc it changed the whole profile of the soup, depth of flavours going on there. Wonderful.
    OMG those Hotteokes looked to die for, fried pancake, cinnamon, sugar and nuts that speaks my language!!

    • @ChasingaPlate

    Hey I wanted to let y'all know that I'm not getting notification for you channel I have the bell click but if I'm not getting it is anyone else having this problem . it only poped up on my suggested list

      Hi forthelove of insanity! Thanks for letting us know that. The best I can suggest is the check our channel a few times a week (we normally post 3 videos a week on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and then once you do that and start watching videos it might kick it into life and start giving you a notification. Fingers crossed! We're really hoping, and trying, to build the channel so hopefully it starts sending notifications out to people 😀 Thanks so much for the support! Cheers, Thomas 😀😀

      Note*** “SABR” 👉 is a transliteration from Arabic word meaning “Patience”. 😉
      Same for “Alhamdulillah” believers always thanking GOD for everything even for bad times and for good time or for blessings and calamities that’s why we always say Alhamdulillah (all thanks be to ALLAH/GOD ALMIGHTY). 😍

    I enjoy your videos especially they editing. However, let me add some constructive criticism if I may. I think you folks over describe the food you are about to eat. I am not just talking about this video. We watch a lot of vloggers as a family but it seems like they have lost interest, including a few friends I shared your videos with. Again, love your editing and subject matter. Try taking a look at the vlog especially based on what I said.

    • @ChasingaPlate

      Hi 808slowly, thanks for watching and for your feedback! It is a constant balance- hardcore food lovers are really keen on the in depth descriptions and background of dishes whilst others are less interested. Your comment is very timely- we are pulling back a bit on the descriptions as you may have noticed in our more recent content 😄 However, we’ll never just become a channel that glosses over what we’re eating and why- there are plenty of channels out there who create food videos merely because they get views. We make food videos because we are genuinely passionate about giving people an insight into a country’s food culture and it’s hard to do that without giving information about the food 😄 Hope you and your family enjoy what we have coming up on our channel- we are excited to share our series from home very soon. Thanks too for sharing our videos 808slowly ❤️ Cheers, Sheena

    I would enjoy the videos more with less narrating. For example: "I'm gonna take a bite and give it a go", just eat it and let the flavors sink in before feeling the urge to say something right away. Your expression and joy goes a lot further than any words. I guess that's why Mike Chan is so good, he gets to the point and keeps it moving..

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  6 років тому

      Hi JJT903. Thanks for the feedback. We really like to give information and really let the viewer learn about what we're eat via both words and our expressions. We're not really about taking a quick bite and moving onto the next thing. We'd rather give some real info about the food and also some history on the dish if possible. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Thomas

    • @fjeisdivoojlk

      I appreciate the enthusiasm and the history attached to the dish you guys do. I was more referring to the over usage of adjectives, guess maybe I am just no longer a foodie newbie.

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  6 років тому +1

      Hi BRUCE JEANDUC. We've never heard much in the way of overly positive or negative opinions on food in Busan. We often hear about one city or another being amazing for food and others not being great. We normally find there are always diamonds in the rough but it's just as easy to find something that isn't great at all in a place you've been told is amazing for food. We do a lot of research and ground work on where to eat and everything we had in Busan was absolutely amazing (well apart from one meal which was mediocre at best but we weren't filming that day). We loved our time there and the food we had. Thank for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀
