      @@headforcosbydraymond and bill isn't really the best comparison, I do see your point. Bill Russell was the best player on his team tho, and arguably his best abilities were his shot blocking, rebounding, and his athleticism, which is far from draymonds below the rim style. Obviously their personalities are like polar opposites too. Also as far as how good they actually are, that part is not even close.

    Bill and Russell were so great because they were athletes far ahead of their time. If you watch Bill's game tape he was a monster on the defensive end and he's the best defensive player by a country mile and its not even close. There are literally a scant few teams who have won the championship with a bottom ranked offense. Bill Russell did it 5 times. That speaks LEVELS on how dominant his defense was. And wilt is literally a 7'1"(Barefoot btw) track star freakishly strong and he played 48 minutes a game playing with chuck taylors. Those two are generational talents and specimens for a reason. They'd be great in any era

    Wilt Chamberlain would be the most athletic big in the league today and it wouldn’t be close. Bill Russell would dominate defensively and be one of the best offensive centers in the league today. For some reason people think that if you don’t then you can’t or you didn’t because you can’t, but a lot of times people don’t because they don’t have to. Bill Russell could score but playing on a team with 3 or 4 other hall of famers who could score, the team needed rebounds and defense. It’s not that guys today can’t do it, they just don’t think that way.

      Rodman was not even half the athlete Russel was, people talk about Wilt all the time when it comes to athleticism, but Russel was a level above in high jump,he cleared 6'8" in the high jump and was ranked 7th in the world, add to that he was naturally much faster and bigger than Rodman.

  • @denim5667
    @denim5667 8 місяців тому

    my push back on how he’d just dominate todays game is this:
    - he’s now having to play in space & no matter how athletic you are, defending at a high level in space consistently is TOUGH. someone like luka or any elite scorer in the game is going to put that man in a pick in roll and get him switched onto them and that’s gonna be a nightmare.
    - i also question how good of a weak side and help defender he’d be because he’s never had to really do that because all he had to do was sit in the paint. though i think he’ll be good because he’s an athletic freak, i just don’t know what these sudden movements will do to him as a defender.
    - he’d be versus guys maybe not to his same athleticism but they are his size now, so i question how effective his post game will be in a more advanced game because i don’t think he’s just gonna get the same stuff he was getting off back then now. someone like gobert, wemby, or just any great help side defender is gonna come weak side and bat that off the back board.
    while i do question how good he’d be, he would definitely be a 20 & 15 guy just due to his athleticism and running up the court and pick in dives, but i doubt he’s just gonna dominate todays game especially with the referees now in days as well.
