Thanks for this video! It’s perfect timing as I was just starting to set my own up based on your past videos and your Business Of Making podcast. I really enjoy your stuff, you lay things out so clearly and back up your advice with logical reasons. I was wondering in the case of the welcome sequence, I want to promise no emails other than my one monthly newsletter (I don’t sell on my own site, so don’t have transactional emails either) because I know personally I unsubscribe when senders start feeling spammy with frequent emails but I’m not sure how to fit a welcome sequence into that. Do I maybe send the “thanks for joining” confirmation email (with discount code) and then one follow up laying out what to expect from membership and reminding them how to use the code? Is one welcome sequence email enough? Thanks for all you do, Deb!

Good question! Yes, that's definitely one way to go about it. The 'welcome' sequence is a good chance for you to establish expectations so that your audience knows what they're going to get from you :) - L

Thanks, Deb! Getting all that set up and launched is this week’s project. :)

Most of this is very compelling, but I don't understand why you'd need a welcome sequence to someone who has already signed up to you; they already know all this.
I also wonder how recent the studies are whether they include people in their teens and twenties as from my peers I'm inclined to think that demographic don't open marketing emails.

Thanks for the comment, Sadbh! A 'welcome' sequence is helpful because sometimes visitors will breeze through a website and might not fully know what to expect from you. It's also a chance for you to share more content that might've been too overwhelming on just an 'about' page, etc.
Regardless of whether your audience is in their teens or are middle-aged, having your own email list that you can use to communicate with your audience is still much more reliable than depending on social media platforms & their algorithms to 'boost' your content. Hope this helps :) - L

@@Tizzitco Thanks, the overwhelming element does indeed make sense
