    As you are standing up at the top of this location I could only imagine what a cold winter wind and snow would have felt like in that place! I would think a platoon could have held an army off from the top of that hill! Thank you and EE for the extraordinary effort to find and then explore this location! What an interesting and unexplored position! Stay well and stay safe gentlemen!

      Totally so Donald , Being there in a strong cold winter storm must have been very hard indeed. Very important position it was to protect a important stretch of lad and sea. Thank you again Donald for your incredible support.

    Thanks! Thank you for letting us be part of your journeys EE and HH. No denying that the German Engineers knew their stuff when it came to designing defensive fortifications, bunkers, trenches etc. I do remember reading and hearing from relatives that the Germans paid and treated the local tradesmen well. That higher proximity allowed an excellent view of the major waterways while providing protective cover. Well planned. The mountain bunker WAS a surprise. Very sturdy with the reinforced beams, concrete, and rocks. Imagine the time spent to build it. Wouldn't it be something if the MG was still there at the machine gun position. Although it might have been one of the much safer places during WW2 for the Germans, I can't imagine a young 16yr old German soldier having to leave the safety of his home and his loved ones and going off to fight there. Like you said HH, we must never forget that there were real human beings fighting on both sides of the war with feelings, dreams, who felt pain, and bled real blood. There must be so much there to be discovered, thank you HH and EE.

      Yes Laura , locals were actually often treated very well and also paid good money to do the work. It was also very needed work at some locations as ironically enough the war drained some communities for jobs and resources. This place is totally cray and not before you witness yourself how steep this is you can fully understand it. Thanks so much for your great support Laura and greetings from us.

    You were absolutely correct! No matter what, these young men served their country, were ripped away from everything familiar, to go fight for someone else's beliefs. It doesn't matter what the nationality, they were all human.... your videos are truly amazing, especially with your narration. Thank you both

    Thank you both for trekking up that steep hillside to bring us this incredible location. The amount of labour involved to create such a complex maze of trenches on such a hard, rocky, and inhospitable, location, is mind blowing. After all your amazing videos, of trenches, and bunkers, and gun pits, it is still stunning how much effort, and time, the Germans put into literally, fortifying everywhere they stood. And it's these locations, not the "tourist" bunkers, that ram that home. Especially sites like this, virtually untouched, except by Mother Nature, that are my favourite. Thank you again for bringing us this unique, amazing, place. Cheers to you both! Stay Safe!

    Right you were EE. There was something of importance up there. Can't get over how beautiful the scenery is. Defensive position was so well hidden and protected from the 40-45 km winds. Still I imagine they would rather be home. Couldn't ask for a better view of the coastline. The Germans were always so good at utilizing the native surroundings. Thank you for taking us through the trenches EE. That barbed wire will help make an awesome shadowbox for some lucky receiver. If someone was to want to look at bunkers and went on line, what they would find are the more popular locations that you read about in history books. You take us to the forgotten location or not so popular location and out of the way location. This location is in an area were many people would not go. Like you said,this is a lot of work. Everything you have showed us probably doesn’t even scratch the surface as to what is there. It would probably be hard to do but metal detecting this area may turn up hidden treasures as many people haven’t been up there. Great location and great finds from Eagle Eyes.

    I had never seen what you referred to as a mountain bunker before. Very interesting. I enjoy seeing the bunkers along the Atlantic Wall but for me, these ones that are built up in the mountains and woods are much more interesting. It doesn't have the level of sophistication that some of the other Atlantic Wall bunkers have but it also lacks the predictability of some of those Atlantic Wall bunkers as well and I find that quite interesting. Thank you both once again for bringing this wonderful history to us. Take care and stay safe my friends.

    One thing always amazes me with the locations you find, and that is nature. The slightest piece of bare ground, and a tree will grow. How some of the have stood for so long on this hillside fort I will never know. The work as you say is mind blowing, to carve out and build trenches on the side of a hill like that. Fantastic site. Yes, Normandy and the large public sites are crowded and filmed to the nth degree. These are the sites that show what life is all about. Another great filming. That the camo methods are still there is amazing. If at the end they had collected all the combat wire and remelted it, the amount of car body parts would have been astronomical. Falling down the hill is most assuredly going to leave marks on you. The loss of the camera is a killer. Can the RoV be put down and recover it? Again, great video work. I would imagine most soldiers would feel safe at a location like this. An attacking force from below would have many casualties trying to get to the top. With the advancement of air power and artillery these locations probably weren’t that safe. No where to hind. This location is like it’s frozen in time. Hopefully as you said, it will remain this way for many years to come.

    That looks like quite an interesting spot. When you're metal detecting do you ever check along the bottom of the trenches themselves? With all the running back and forth that the soldiers would have done in those trenches it seems likely that they would have dropped and lost things along those narrow paths. Thanks to you and EE for your efforts and for posting.

    Might pay to grab a few tether lines to attach to your equipment . We use them at work when working at heights , sometimes a bit awkward but well worth having rather then loosing expensive equipment

    HH, as you describe your surroundings, you often say something like, "Imagine, Wilhelm, Hans, and Reinhardt ..." You tend to use those three names the most. Is that trio of names people significant in your life whom you choose to remember on your expeditions? There is "ped" in expedition, how many pairs of hiking boots do you destroy in a year?

    • @WW2HistoryHunter
      @WW2HistoryHunter  2 роки тому +1

      Actually these names have a meaning regarding a book i have read so in a way yes. around 2-3 pairs will be destroyed every year i think. Thanks Paul :)

    That big hook I bet it was some kind of tram system as to even just get the amount of concrete you showed us would have been a huge feat with out something.

    I wouldn't want to be one of the Allied soldier tasked with taking that hill. A fortified hill full of MG-34's, and 42's makes for a bad day just getting to the foot of the hill, much less getting up it. Since it's untouched I would imagine there's a metal detecting video coming up on this location. If so it should prove to be quite productive. It's looking as though your road trip is exceeding your expectations.

    The German people are really motivated to be able to occupy that steep mountain top. I bet there are several more mountain top positions that are near there. If they would go through all that for one firing position you know there are more. It just makes sense. Nice video Sir. EE is such a wonderful young man. He isn't a kid anymore. It's been fun watching grow from a little kid always putting his hands in the shot to finding some of the greatest finds on your channel. Soon he will be driving and going out on dates. I wish I still had my Canon D80 I would send it to you but the ex-wife took it. She doesn't even know how to use it. Divorces what can you do other then be happy it's over.
    What ever happened to Viking Restoration? I loved to watch those videos. I haven't room to talk I haven't made a video in a few years. Well you and EE and BBG have a great day. I wish I could send EE something for Christmas. I think everyone should send him a gift to show him the live he shows us. Sorry my ex took my will to live.🤣 Just kidding I'm going to bounce back bigger and better just hopefully not longer. Happy History Hunting 😁
