Well done my friend. That a commander cared about the local environment is so far above normal. The fireplace is gorgeous and the workman that did it put effort into it. Can you Imagin being an 18-year-old from a major city dropped into that area and then winter comes. That the pines are growing that slow is unusual, I wonder if they grew up through the wire and now carry it with them. Well done both of you. Stay safe and well during this winter.

The wires are a weird thing i fell and that could be it or the trees just grow slow. Loved that and thanks so much William for being here.

Thanks! Beautiful area, you can see that the area was respected, under the circumstances. The fireplace is a work of art and still in such excellent shape. Can imagine Karl, Reinhardt, and Gunther enjoying their German chocolate and drinking their hot coffee while gathered around and discussing back home. The German Commandant sounded very wise and thoughtful. Would like to hear more about him. Have read and heard many stories of kind and heroic acts that the Germans carried out. They also made many long lasting friendships amongst the locals. We must not rely on Hollywood's one sided takes portraying the Germans as monsters. Thank you for your educated and realistic view HH. The last structure did look like a Barrack and/or kitchen. I bet it was set up very comfortably. That was GREAT HH and EE. Thank you.

Thanks! Thoroughly enjoyed this multi part discovery. Extremely stately fireplace, so much time and effort put into the design and constructing. Couldn't begin to imagine what it would be like as a young soldier having to fight in a remote place away from family and loved ones. Thank you for reminding us that these young soldiers were human like us with fears, dreams, who felt pain, sorrow, and love. Anyone could have been put in this position of having to fight a war they had no intention of fighting. Thanks for all your hard work HH & EE in order to bring us realistic and genuine WW2 history videos.

More than 260,000 workers helped to build the Atlantic Wall. Only 10 percent of these men were German. Albert Speer’s Organisation Todt directed the construction effort using thousands of forced labourers as well as many poorly paid local men. The department’s previous projects included the Autobahn highway system in Germany as well as the Siegfried Line along the Franco-German border.

Thank you so much for this series, on what is definitely, one of the most amazing places you have brought us. Barrack areas are always just as interesting as seeing gun positions and bunkers. It is easy to forget, in this modern time of international travel, and the internet, that, these men, were human, not just robots, manning those guns, and manning those observation posts. They were, mostly, young men called up to serve their country. Like many other young men (and women) from around the world. Young men who had never set foot beyond their home borders. Thrown into a conflict not of their making. Who had lives, and dreams, and passions, beyond military life. And that is why seeing where they lived, and relaxed, off duty is always fascinating. Imagining what they did, and talked about, joked about, during their off times. This is part of History just as much as a concrete bunker. Thanks again for sharing this incredible site with us. Cheers to you all! Stay safe and well!

beautiful fireplace probably buily BY the soldaten themselves. 19:24 it looks like that large cabin would have been completely wood lined, floor, walls ceiling. Very luxurious compared to the British Tommys in plain bunkers no heat or light bare concrete. Wonderful series of explores. I have many unanswered questions so I want to go here and investigate what this site was as it clearly had a MASSIVE infrastructure right down to phones going to the barrack areas. The undergound pipes you found need in depth research as this appears to be a uniqe and valuable site. Estimating possibly 3-400 troops here? WHY? What is the senstitive asset?

What a great adventure that you provide. I've told you in that past that spiritually I travel with you and pray for your safety anf Eagle Eyes. Two weeks ago I got covid from my grandson. I dodged that a long times but I'm finally well. It was a challenge for a 70 year old man. Thank you for lifting my spirit. You make a difference!

As always, excellent, that was a bit different, looking at the domestic life of a German soldier. Marvelous, thank you HH and EE from your friends in the UK

Episode 5 didn't disappoint. To find all of those structures in the forest was amazing. That fireplace WOW!!! This was truly my favourite location that you've been to so far. It had everything, tunnels, guns, bunkers and barracks. Thanks to you and EE for taking us on such a special trip back into history.

Am still amazed at how beautiful the fireplace is. I can still imagine the solders having their beers around it talking about home or the war. Looking at the barrack location, you wouldn’t think a war was happening there. Almost like a resort area.

Interesting that some of the trails EE & you followed looked well traveled and if so means that people there did not deface these structures which is very cool. This was a very interesting series I was shocked seeing the guns still there. THank you and EE for amazing videos and history

What a beautiful area, so green and lush. I can imagine it might not have been that way when the garrison was there; probably very manicured? I can imagine the men warming themselves by that huge fireplace, the construction is all that remains of a large building? Who used that bucket and how did it survive to still be laying in the area? Your ability to make sense of all the remains in this forest is a testament to your experience at so many locations and your study of the different facilities! It is all so very interesting! Thanks for taking us along! Stay safe and stay well!!

Yes the place looked more like a farmers garden than a military camp actually. It was kept very tidy ad clean and i just loved that fireplace Donald. Thanks and more to come :)

Am still amazed at how you notice the details of the construction that is covered by nature. The rock fireplace was beautiful. Seeing the mantle around it I would think this would have been a building for the officers of the camp. I can imagine the officers standing around the fireplace talking with there beer bottles or wine bottles sitting on the mantle. After hearing you talk about the commander that was here, this location must have been in pristine condition. I wonder were they disposed of their rubbish? It was wonderful to see some of the structures still standing. Very nice series on this site.

Excellent job young man, to bad your daughter couldn't see some of the location also.
