This is the next thing I need to do. Rebuild my 4CS forks!
On the new-to-me TE250 I just picked up, I'm going to be doing this job, along with re-spinging for my weight.... You've inspired me to get in there and do it on my own...thanks Morgan 💪
Awesome man.
Super bien el video, muchas gracias muy buena información
great informational video! i sent my 4cs forks out twice since I've had the bike to be rebuilt due to not having the time or correct tools however this video has opened my eyes to how easy it is to do simple maintenance on the forks. I may swap out the springs as well
Awesome man
Oh ya, thanks for the video, 4cs fork seal change this weekend for me!

I was stupid forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Lyric Dakota instablaster :)
@Christian Otto Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Christian Otto it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
Use eye protection and when you spray the parts cleaner put on your facemask so you're not breathing that stuff directly into your lungs. You should lube up the seals and bushings before installation. Thanks for the posting!
Thanks for the safety tips.
Howdy i was using your video as a guide to take my forks apart and when i took the base out it was in pieces with so many shims stacked on it the cup that goes around the rod couldn’t even thread on to the base.. ever seen this?
(shoehorn) your stuff comes up on autoplay keep up the good work man
Thanks man
Nice .Love my 4CS. You forgot to put gloves on reassembly. LOL
peter tuning I know. But at least I didn’t use the brake clean in that part 😂
Hey Morgan great video the metal o rings where I can find it all is standard?
Use the seal driver to tuck the snap ring into place (at 15 minutes)
For sure
Am I missing something with the bushings?
The black coating is the friction side!
The inner side of the top bush has nothing sliding against it. Maybe it turns on the shaft but the outside black coating is what the outer tube slides on. The smaller bush has the black coating on the inside because that's where the stanchion slides.
You are right and that is a place to check for sure but that side holds up really well. The other side, the side that nothing actually slides on shows heat and deformation that you can’t see from the other side.
Thanks for these videos! Very helpful! What kind of brake cleaner are you using?
From a company called Nuetech
4CS forks look like the easiest fork to rebuild.
Thank you for posting this video!!! I have a question. Is it ok to remove the fork cap without releasing rebound adjuster all the way out? I crashed on MX track and adjuster snapped off completely.. so I cannot touch the adjuster at all and don’t remember how many clicks... if you can give me advice, really appreciate it!
Masaaki
You can do it without doing that. I would recommend getting a new cap though and re adjust your clickers. It’s just a better way to do it. If you can’t swing that then you’ll be fine.
Any other ways to get the big bushing down without the seal driver?
You can use a very small punch if you are careful
Do you remember how many hours these had done? I don't know if i need need to order new bushings, 100 hours but C rider
Get bushings
Will do thank you!
I see that you fit the seal dry where others apply a little oil or grease. What are the pros/cons of doing this?
I sometimes put some grease on it too. It depends on how dry the tube is when I’m installing them. You definitely want something slippery on there when first installing to keep the lip of the seal from flipping.
On my 4cs suspension I can feel a space between the suspension while doing whoops and it also makes a clunking noise. It's only when doing whoops. What could be wrong?
I have seen the bottom of the cartridge come apart.
I have a 2016 husky fc 250 with the 4cs forks I talk to few different people on how much oil to put in them they all gave me a different number lol don’t really know how much
Hahaha. I run 100mm air gap
@@highlandcycles I have nothing to measure that
@@bryantucker1270 you don’t have a tape measure? You can fill the fork with the spring out, pump it a bunch and bleed the air out then collapse the fork and measure down from the edge. If it’s a little too much oil, pour some out. If it’s not quite enough then add some. The reason you are getting different numbers is that the amount is a little different from bike to bike and people like more or less oil depending on how stiff they want it to feel. The air gap is the way the manufacturer measures it and how suspension tuners do it.
@@highlandcycles never thought bout the tape measure lol I got ya thanks a lot
How much spring preload do you suggest on the 4CS forks?
Whatever it takes to get your sag correct
Hi I am trying to replace seals on the 4CS fork but the 17 mil Allen bolt on the bottom is just spinning and not loosening any suggestions.
If you aren’t using an impact you might need to. If you are then you might have to get the actual holder for the cartridge
When I'm adding oil to my 4cs forks when it's up side down it leaks out the bottom does that mean there is a seal that's damaged the cartridge appears to be all the way in
It might. I haven't ever had that happen
Same is happening to me...
Doing mine yesterday....same thing. Were you guys able to get them bled? Did you find out what was wrong? I've done my forks numerous times and never had this problem till now.
@@Dmac1vids I had to put the cap on to fill from the bottom other wise it would all dump out I looked for about 3 weeks to see if there was a seal I needed to be replaced I called racetech and slave's racing and was told to put the top cap on while filling from the bottom not sure how highlandcycles pulled it off but he made a great video 👍👍
@@elgringodiablo1156 Thanks! I used to have no issue filling from the bottom just like in the vid, but yesterday, it was pouring out. Will do over with the cap on. Something has changed, but hopefully it doesn't impact fork performance.
Great video! I’ve never seen anyone in any of the videos I’ve watched cross hatch the fork tube with the scotch bright pad.
What wound more oil gap do? Make the forks softer/more plush?
Yes. The more air you have the less "spring"
@@highlandcycles so if I’m more of a single track and medium to hard enduro rider, maybe a bigger gap is a good thing
@@CrashHardEnduro yes
I hate the sound of wrenches hitting the ground
Robert Otto me too. But no ones perfect.
