Can I give a recommendation? Let the Airwrap do the curling for you. Don't physically wrap the hair around the barrel yourself. Let the Airwrap grab the hair at the end and then it will wrap around the barrel by itself as you move it closer to your head. It will work so much better and be less frustrating.
Maybe you’re right, I’m so used to wrapping everything from the root first down to the ends and never usually wrap ends first but I guess this is how airwrap is designed to work!
Just bought this. Also, have an older version, 2021. Happy because all the attachments, except the fast dryer, are different. The round brush is substantially bigger than the old. Would love to see how you find this works best, with time and what you recommend. Thanks for sharing.
One of the most detailed reviews for a product I’ve seen in a long time! You are very talented being able to go through the ID portion on the phone and talking to the camera, and styling your hair 😂 I love the end result your hair looks so shiny. I am getting mine tomorrow so watching you gives me a head start 🎉
Ahhh thank you so much 🥰 yeah the talking throughout and describing was also adding an extra layer of difficulty for myself 🤣 should definitely be easier if you aren’t doing this and filming, hope you get on well with yours!! x
I read somewhere that if you change the cool shot timer to 10 seconds then it’ll work automatically when you’re using the id feature. Cos it takes a little longer than 5 sec for the air to cool
Oh reallyyyy? Yeah I thought part of the i.d. feature would be that it takes itself into cool mode tbh! Let me play around with it a bit more and see… 🤔
I love this video 😂😂😂 it is very honest thank you for that. Also still confused with the direction of curling barrels. I bought my Dyson about six months ago and one month later this Dyson ID to came out and I was a little bit frustrated but now after your video review I see that I didn’t bought anything wrong. Because the timer would also confuse me as well.
Haha always honest here! 🤣 yeah the I.d. Curl mode is really just a timer - still need to figure out which way you’re curling 😆 I’d be fine if I were curling each side away from the face (same direction on each side) but I decided to make it more difficult for myself by having alternating curls throughout - I think I’ll go again with curls falling away each side for ease!!
Thank you so much for this honest review. I bought the airwrap last year, and apart from the curling wand I love it 😂 Swear to god, I’ve tried this wand so many times and it never really worked on me- I’ve tried mousses, damp hair, dry hair.. it is always so stressful and the result looks terrible on me. Oh well, maybe it’s just not for me (which is fine), but for the cost I expected this to be way easier to use.
Yeah I think I’m going to much prefer the blow dry brush head! Where you have more control over it and you’re actually doing it (whereas I guess the curling wand head, it does it all for you but it takes that level of control out of it!) next video shall be a review and tutorial with the brush head 😊
I subscribed because i am very curious how you use the other pieces for this device. I've got an dyson airwrap too so I definitely want to learn. Looking forward to that 🥰
I really appreciate the honest review! It would be amazing if you could review the new Shark flex fusion and compare. The price difference is significant, so I'm curious which one you would recommend.
😂😂😂makes me laugh… the airwrap id goes by itself on cold mode you don’t have to press the cold shot when you use the id mode lol ,you might not feeling the cold air as barrels gets hot and it will need more time to cool down 🤭also you don’t have to wrap the hair by hand .. you’ll get used to it and you won’t like ghd anymore trust me 😊
Mine wasn’t going cold at all automatically! Someone else commented and suggested I need to slide up the I.d. Button again and then this makes it go into cool mode! You’re right I need to play around with it more and then I’ll love it 😆
I don‘t see the necessity for the „fast drying attachment“ as it simply is the old version of that and it does the same as the combined drying and flyaway attachment. You can do the fast drying with the flyaway attachment, there’s no need for a second one. Also your hair should wrap itself around the barrel, which it does if you hold it at about two thirds of it length and hold the barrel behind it. Then you slide the barrel up to the roots and your hair is wrapped. This way you would not struggle at all with getting it wrapped within 7 seconds. Anyway I don’t think that the bluetooth-thing gives you any advantage. You still have a learning curve and need to practice styling your hair with it. The app is not going to style the hair for you. In my opinion it is just a very expensive timer. All in all, I think that this new model is nothing else than a marketing product targeted to sell a new airwrap to people that already have an older model and maximise dyson‘s profit by being even more expensive than a „normal“ hairwrap.
I mean the hair needs to be able to move, so can’t be holding it, because it can’t wrap itself around the barrel if you hold it. So you have to hold the barrel to the end of your hair and release the hair as soon as it starts to wrap around the barrel.
I've not yet tried the fly away attachment tbh! and yeah I agree, I think airwrap is designed to collect ends first (whereas I wanted to get the roots wrapped around on the barrel first as roots are thicker and take longer to dry! and I'd always wrap roots first usually) next time I use this wand attachment I'll try ends first though and yeah definitely a new feature added on to help market the product and modernise it but not a necessity and doesn't make the tool perform any better I'd say - just fine without!
So what’s the purpose of using the id portion?🤷♀️ Just the fact it automatically times a count down on how long to put the heat on? If that’s all it does I don’t see how it’s really worth anything. Not hard to count in your head yourself or better yet just go by feel. Not every section is going to have the exact same wetness so some strands may need the heat on a little longer if that strand was a little wetter or thicker. Just seems like a lot of chaos just for a screen to count down how long you had it on your hair and to have to constantly be looking at your phone vs looking what you’re doing? Dont really see the real benefit of this. Pls advise if I’m not understanding this function.
no exactly, personally I don't see much point in the i.d. function but maybe it could be quite handy for those who don't have any clue on how long to hold it on for or when to use the cool setting, that being said I definitely don't think it's needed every time you style and to be looking at your phone on every section and exactly - some sections will be thicker or a but more damp and that affects it all! I guess these hair/beauty brands are trying to incorporate modern technology and be super smart (a bit like YSL they did a device which linked to your smart phone where you can mix up your own lipstick colour - all in all a bit gimicky to be honest) great tool but I don't have a need or want for the bluetooth function x
Yes! I know it’s expensive but nothing compares to it. I’ve bought it and returned it but I’m buying again this year because no other tool works the way this does. The curling wand sucks in my opinion but the blow dryer brush is the BEST!
Glad I could help! I’m going to be doing some more videos and tutorials so even if you got a dupe or more affordable option, the tutorials should still work 😊
I felt like mine wasn't automatically changing! (unless it just takes a long time which I've since read) so I was manually changing it down to cool shot x
how did you get it to connect to your phone?? im so lost! it keeps saying swipe the power button up to activate id curl and i did it so many times and it just is stuck on that screen 😭
It took me a while also!! 😅 so the on button, you have to knock that upwards where it says I.d. Curl and then it actually has to be on and going in order for it to connect x
I have the same dyson model, and pushing the on-off button up doesn't give cold air... I don't know if it means that it doesn't work or if this model doesn't have this function...
I'm still wondering if I should buy the regular airwrap or this i.d. version. Do you think the only difference is the Bluetooth connectivity? If so, I do think it's unnecessary 🤔
@@RebekaJacques I don’t care about the timer on the phone feature but I am hearing that the barrels are different and the brush much bigger , so I am over the fence . And Ulta has a 20% off promo now (of the regular one )

Your Major mistake it’s tostart wrapping the hair from the roots. You clearly have to do it from the tips. Also, hair needs to be damp not fully dry. Practice will help
Hello 🥰 yes hair is definitely damp here and I explain all about how damp the hair should be in the vid Yes, I guess it’s designed to pick up hair from the ends first (where it’s finer and not as heavy) but I was trying to wrap it roots first which is best for the hair (thicker roots need longer on the heat rather than the fine ends being on the heat the longest) I guess I just need to go with the fact that ends need to be wrapped first next time! 👌🏼
They are not easy to use the dyson hairdryer just blows my hair all over the place which is not good as it is curly!!! Yeah I think next time I use the wand heads, I would go through with the smoothing brush first at the roots to smooth out my waves and stop kinky roots and then also use just on a medium speed (I also found the high speed is very powerful and blows the rest of the hair and the baby hairs too much) definitely a product to play around with and practise that’s for sure x
I was trying to wrap roots first rather than ends because roots take longer to dry as they’re thicker and this is how I’d always wrap, but I guess airwrap is designed that ends need to go in first!
If you aren’t fussed about the i.d connecting part then yeah definitely no need to get a new one (if you already have one) or if you’re wanting to get one - just get the usual one (non i.d. curl!)
