As a lifelong seeker, this was very helpful.
Beautifully said presvytera. This talk is phronema in praxis. Ephraim from Sydney and the Slavic Church. Living our unity in practice here.
Blessings Brothers and Sisters, Thank You for this Master class!!.
She’s a breeze in a hot dry day . Thank you 🙏
Very intense. Thank you for helping me learn and better understand Orthodox mind set/ points of view. Thank you שלום Michael B
I just love Eugenia.. I can listen to her all day. God bless her even more
I've been converting to Orthodoxy for about 2 months now (wow time flies...) and these two videos have been life changing for me. I came to Orthodoxy for the truth, and I did find that, but these talks made everything fall into place to make me see what really matters, being the Orthodox life itself. It's an odd mix of disappointing (no quick solution) and having found the purpose for my life that I've been looking for all this time. Having to live the Orthodox life means I literally have something for which I need to live, which means a reason to live. That was the reason I left behind atheism 10 years ago to seek purpose in religion, and without expecting it, in these two videos, I suddenly found it. My earlier Protestant ideas somewhat provided a reason to exist, but not yet a reason to live. I still hadn't found what I was looking for, until now. Thank you. God bless you.
@simpleAmadeus thank you for sharing your thoughts.. Rather than replying with thoughts of my own, thought I would share this most interesting video of the life of someone you reminded me when reading your post. I pray for you to find truth has always been with you that’s why we cannot find it on the external. Stay the course.
Or give meat to the Russians. Better yet, stop our Gov America from I instigating war.
We are proud of you Dr. Eugenia. Thanks for your hard work and giving to all of Christians!
Absolutely incredible.
Thank you, presbytera Jeannie.
This brought tremendous help to the Church. The way you explain things and make it so easy to understand without using a highly theological language is a gift from God.
In our church many people really absorbed your presentation and the catechumens were cheering about it. They watched it in a breath.
Glory to God for creating this opportunity for us.
Especially now in the post-covid era we really need things analyzed and clarified and more than that we need to go back to the roots of our Church and redefine our Tradition and boundaries.
So much needed!
Wow, you couldn’t of said it any more clearer! Living it like Jesus showed living it. An example is miles ahead of words.
Love this
Thank you so much.
Eugenia is amazing - and just a shout out to my priest, Fr. Timothy, one of the most amazing men, who I have ever met in my life
Preach it, Dr. Constantinou!!! Kale Hiwot Yasemalegn!!! (May you hear the Word of Life)
Wonderful lectures, I find these so valuable! Thank you for sharing!
This woman is literally a goddess in my eyes um I hope thats Orthodox! how embarrassing to,..
Hello, I love your channel and thank God for your contribution to the salvation of our souls. Would it be possible, that you realive your spotify account and add these lind of lectures to there also? The every 3 min commercials on UA-cam are making it impossible to listen... :(
Her chronic illness is a heavy cross enough to bear is what I was told . She can discuss it with her spiritual father and he can guide her. Bless you for loving her enough to do it for both 👍
AMEN
This video and pt 1 should be titled Orthodoxy vs other religions. Nothing wrong with that, but I hoped for the title, what the Orthodox phronema IS and HOW to acquire it.
It’s still better to do what’s right despite the political pressure. When we read the lives of the saints I don’t see where they compromise because of political pressure. Maybe they are too radical for us but they are our ideal for behavior.
Where was this? Are there other events like this? She mentioned “we” and “the south”. Do you think I could similar events anywhere?
Question: I’m an orthodox Christian born here in the USA.. had a conversation with a catholic. Her statement, the Bible is a good blueprint for life.. how does an orthodox respond? Thank you
I think I may have an idea about "phronema". Could we liken it to discipline, self-discipline, given that etymologically discipleship exists in these words. Therefore, a collective discipleship manifests within the church. We bring it to the table. To our churches. That of teacher and pupil, pupil and teacher. Your thoughts?
I like that - an internalized collective discipleship.
That's actually very good way to put it, though it can limit our perspective on *phronema* as well. "A collective discipleship" (even being 100% true) leads to think more about the way of life (praxis) and teachings, but "the mind of Christ" is easily ignored... even though one could note that disciples grow to have similar mindset as their teacher.
"LeBron James: Basketball guy" 😆
She should use b2b MVP jokic, who is Orthodox
I am a Roman Catholic, very drawn in by Oethodoxy Enjoyed your discourse very much
I dont mean to be rude but I would like to ask a question ie where in the N.T. did Jesus institute the sacrament of confession .?
I know it's a very imp sacrament
But I am just curious that all !!
This quote from John 20:23: " If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” NIV
Christ was speaking to his disciples, and confession was part of Christian practice from early on. Historically it can be traced back to the early Christians. They would actually do public confessions in front of the entire Christian community. As the centuries went by, it became a private matter. The priest has been ordained by a bishop who is in a long line of succession going back to the apostles. Also, you aren't speaking to Presvytera Eugenia. She doesn't run our youtube or anything else run by Trisagionfilms.
Salvation sounds impossible to me. Where is grace? I’m new to Orthodoxy and feel drawn to it. I was raised Catholic and the legalism was very destructive to many lives, looking back. Help me. What is salvation.
Salvation is the healing of humanity. Humanity fell away from God and became sick and broken because it lost its union with God. In Christ, that union is attained at its fullest and once Christ was crucified and risen from the dead He restored humanity to where God intended it to be from the beginning. In Christ, humanity after His resurrection was perfected and rendered immortal. Once He ascended to Heaven, He honored and Glorified humanity in Himself by having it united in Him seated at the Right Hand of the Father. Those who unite themselves to Christ both spiritually (through prayer) and physically (through the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion) are also healed and restored to where God wants us to be, until we are fully restored and perfected at the Final Resurrection. Please, get on the path to union with Christ and you will taste of His Grace in the measure He wants to provide it to you. (Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou)
@49:29 I think she meant that the church isn’t ethnically diverse, but she just couldn’t spit it out.
It sounded to me more like this was about people who believe that all the "Branches of Christianity" lead to the same place and have the same grace from God, and to say that only the Orthodox Church has grace is a limited way of looking at the world. The idea that the Orthodox Church isn't ethnically diverse is untrue.
You told the kid to remove his hands from his pockets?
Going to take the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ should be made in a reverent, pious manner. Being a child he/she need to be explained that as well as being grateful.
Jesus ate with all social outcasts, irrespective of purity laws, status , ethnicity or occupation but you exclude believing people from Jesus' communion feast. Please tell me how this is Christ like?
What do you mean by communion feast?
So Orthodoxy really believes in salvation by our works? So it is not enough what Jesus did for us?
Watch the first part. It's easy to judge on some kind of buzzword
Read John 6: 28-29 Let the Holy Spirit guide you. In works, it means in believing on Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Refer to time stamp 28:00, not entirely sure where you drew your conclusions, brother Andrew.
Didn't Christ say "If you want to be my disciple, pick up your cross and follow me."? That doesn't sound very passive.
@HIMNESVF just answer read James chapter 2
BRAVO!!! ΚΑΛΟ ΠΑΣΧΑ ΑΔΕΡΦΙΑ ΕΝ ΧΡΙΣΤΟ!!!
Loved: " We are not here to be entertained. We are here to worship " 🙌 🙏 ❤️
Very clever speaker. I'm not of the same Church, nor even same religion, but it brought out my childhood interest in the Christian religion of my childhood. Along with Father Kallistos Ware, Mrs Constantinou is a great teacher of these mystical truths.
God bless you. I’ve bought two of your books and sent them to my son, an Orthodox priest in Colorado.
When she said the story of the man who had demon attacks and asked God where he was and God said I wanted to watch you struggle, that kind of threw me because the thought of wanting to watch someone struggle seemed odd but then I thought of like when my family would come watch me at a running event. They wanted to see me struggle like in an accomplishment. I’m new to orthodoxy so not sure if I’m processing that correctly.
Yes exactly Samantha M, God is rooting for us just like when our family wants us to succeed at something. The man she was referring to was Saint Anthony the Great, who was one of the first great ascetics of the Church.
Thank you so much. As an orthodox christian who grew up in the west and rediscovering my faith, i didn't even know i had false foundations (concerning the mentality i should adopt) especialy when talking about rules, rigidity and anxiety. This video was verry instructive God bless you.
GOD save the Orthodox church from ecumenism. AMEN
The new Wor.ld order has changed the world to the worse. But the gates of hades shall not overtake HIS Church.
I Love the ways You Break it all down.
I just show people of different Christian denominations, Your videos, and then their perspectives change, like they are hungry to learn more.
EFXAPISTW GIA AFTA TA VIDEOS POU KANEIS,
GOD BLESS.
I'm so grateful for getting to know about your youtube conferences. I'm far away in Romania and I just learned of the strong North American Church " a minute" after leaving Canada to return to Romania. A sublime discovery and I surely will share the support I've missed. Thank God, thank you, Presbitera and dr.Eugenia Constantinou!
One thing the devil has done is he convinced the world even those who follow the right way we live in a spinning ball hanging in space but the Bible says different story. Just something our theologians need to check before start arguing the divinity of Christ. Apart from that Thank you professor for your video you are a gift to the beautiful plain world we live on.
Praising Him Eternally in a Resurrected Body! Without exhaustion ☺️💖💙💚☦️😚kiss of peace _thank you Jeannie
God Bless you!!!! I've noticed some people are so rigid with some traditions that they lose their beauty in your eyes. When entering the Orthodox Church I loved all the traditions even though no one told me to mainly because they ADDED to the worship and not replaced them. Unfortunately, I'd encountered some people with pharisaic views that temporarily turned me off towards some of the beautiful traditions of the Church and even made me flee from them. I think that's what makes the Orthodox Church stand out from others: loving the traditions because they have been handed down by Saints. Most often we imitate people we admire simply because we want to be like them and follow them in their footsteps. But once people make rules out of them, they lose their beauty and become a burden.
Nice Lecture !
Then why didn’t the Patriarch give his life for the Orthodox manuscripts ?
Would he not have become a martyr of our faith?
Have the utmost faith in the great one
And keep the ancient manuscripts
The Lord will protect the faithful and if it was his time to go , well then he would of gone dying to save what our ancient Fathers left for us.....
Without pride I say that some of us would prefer death then bow to the Turks or the French
We are weak
@@harrya7916 they would’ve not stopped with the patriarch. You’re thinking like an American. ☦️❤️
Which Patriarch are you talking about? There are patriarchs and archbishops who were martyred for the faith.
@@Trisagionfilms
The one which life was saved by selling the manuscripts.......
As mentioned by the speaker
Thanks for sharing this.
Χριστός ανέστη!!!!! Ι am tought that the filioque is heresy. Filioque undermines the dogma/belief on the trinity and thus on God. This is much deeper. Protestants teach that Christ went to hell after his death. That is just not true. I am not comfortable in using the word heterodox. There is one church, the rest is herecy. I have Protestant friends and we get along very well, but I do not pray with them. I pray for them though and I love them!
She’s a theologian!
Doctorate Degree
I am watching this video during lunch at work on my cell phone.
You mention a book. What book is that?
Thinking Orthodox? Probably
