I got the book last year due to Eric’s show. Am thrilled to have read it through Lent. What a Gift this Mighty Scholar is to the wider Body of Christ ☦️🌹
But they wont let her speak in church coz she's a woman made in the image of God.
@B God's word says women are not allowed to teach men as the man is the head of the woman and Christ is the head of the Man ible33AD
But Holly Mary tell to our Lord to do the miracle in Canaa wedding ❤
I love that Christianity is rediscovering it's Jewish roots. It adds so much to the meaning, traditions and true identity of Christ!
That is why reading the Bible is so important and understanding the culture is equally important... the holy spirit will speak the rest of your heart
Do you know what is interesting??? Christians did not leave the Church, it was the Jews who left. So that means that the Orthodox Christian Church is the original Church of the Old and New Testament. Dr. Jeanie also spoke about how the Jews were supposed to roast their lamb on Passover... the lamb had to be standing up with the front legs spread out... as if it were crucified. And Yet, the Jews have not realized that their passover lamb was in Crucifixion position which is how their temple says they must roast it. Amazing stuff. I love Dr. Jeanie Constantinou. I met her about 6 years ago. Her and her husband Father Kosta... Great people.
Oiy vey
We know that as Christian from middle east go read Saint Ephrem ..The sage APHRAHAT ...etc they read old testemant
Read the Church Fathers and you'll get greater insights. They are to understading the Bible what the founding fathers are to the constitution.
Someone please stop Dallas Jenkins right now and bring together the whole crew of The Chosen to get this woman's consultancy to craft the upcoming seasons. I have feeling her input will corroborate with the truthfulness and cinematography of the series.
And Mel Gibson as he works on his sequel for The Passion.
My understanding is that the chosen is not correct... Many pastors have recommended not watching.
THIS IS THE FAULT OF ALL WHITE PEOPLE - WHITE ONCE UPON A TIME WERE THE CEO’S OF EVERY COMPANY AND HELD ALL THE POWER IN EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN LIFE - THEN WHITE PEOPLE WENT WOKE AND DECIDED TO GIVE ALL THE POWER AWAY TO 🥷✊🏿🥷✊🏿🥷AND🇮🇱🐍🌈🇮🇱🐍🌈🇮🇱AND NOW THERE IS 72 GENDERS AND CHRISTIANITY IS CONSIDERED EVIL ALONG WITH THE NATIONAL ANTHEM 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸WHITE PEOPLES WAKE UP STOP BEING WOKE
The selected series blends facts with fiction, making it difficult to distinguish between reality and invention. Given the extent of creative liberties taken to fill gaps, I'd advise steering clear of it. Just as adding a bit of dirt to clear water spoils the entire container, the mixing of truth and fabrication tarnishes the whole series.
I like the way you think. These were my thoughts exactly. So I came to watch this again and saw your words.
Just bought the Audible version. She narrates it herself and after listening to the sample, I thought she did a nice job. Looking forward to listening to this book. Thank you both. God bless you.
I didn’t know this is on Audible. Thanks for the tip. God bless everyone.
Greetings and blessings to my former professor! I love watching her over and over, never ever get tired, an absolute blessing. IC XC NIKA ☦☦☦
You should listen to her podcast. The Old Testament one is "Searching the Scriptures" and the New Testament one is "Searching the Scriptures, Live." You'll be the smartest in any room until Dr. Jeanie is in it.
@spartanastas5560 Yes,absolutely! Lover her podcasts as well. Thank you!
This very well may be my favorite Socrates in the City event. I didn't make it through without stopping to get a copy of the book.
I cannot wait to read Eugenia's books. Thanks so much Eric for this episode. What a blessing to hear about the back up story of Jesus' crucifixion and death in so much detail.
Easter
Shattered at the break of day
all broken was the seal
Empty was his resting place
where Mary came to kneel
Scattered were the weapons
One hundred soldiers fled
What on earth had happened here
to bring the world such dread
Mary came to wonder
and wandered near the flowers
weeping for her master
for what had seemed like hours
Then a voice so lovely
had caused her to recall
She recognized the sound of it
It was the master's call
Weeping by the fountain
within the garden green
He touched her with his wounded hand
that Mary must have seen
and with the mantle of her hair
He wiped away her tears
a perfect love had touched her
and drove away her fears
Magdalene was first to find
the Resurrected king
as power and Dominion
Into the world she'd sing
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
EXCELLENT interview! I cannot wait to read the book. Thank you Eric Metaxas for your life's work and Eugenia Constantinou for yours!
I just love your approach to our Lord and His people. The Holy Spirit is so hugely present at these beautiful gatherings, like sitting down for a coffee and chat with the family. Thank you for making it happen. Just lovely. From UK . XXXX
I just started reading the book Monday of Holy Week. Thank you Eric for telling us about it, and for this interview of this brilliant author who obviously knows and loves Jesus, the King of Glory. Best book by far I have ever read about Jesus' passion and death.
I was familiar with some of these things but the whole “you’re no friend of Caesar” thing I had no idea. I might have to get this book. Thanks, Eric and SITC. Always great content!
I’ve read the book. It’s really good.
Same! I just ordered the book.
It appears the Church has become corrupt just like the Temple was... Unannointed leaders. Soon, the Second Coming will align with Jesus earthly walk to cleans the Temple to removing true believers before King Jesus comes to establish His earthly Kingdom thru His wrath to remove those unbelievers left behind. The Tribulation of seven years is the last chance for the two prophets and the 144000 witnesses to lift the vale of unbelief of the remnant of Jews still alive to believe in the Risen Christ...The King of Glory !
For those who are interested today is Holy Monday for the Eastern Orthodox . I’m a convert to Orthodoxy of over 20 years and proceeding through Holy Week’s services struck me like a lightening bolt all those years ago.and does every year .If you are able to attend the evening services this week in a nearby parish and then the three on Good Friday and the two services on Saturday all that was discussed and so much more will be laid out for you with a clarity that will astound you . If you are humble of heart and yearn for the truth that is. The church has been leading the faithful through this for centuries…
It goes great job leading russians against ukranians as well, am I rite? I am sure Jesus is proud of you
Hater.@@DartNoobo
@@OrthoSlav yeah I hate lies and spiritual filth. And proud of it.
I’m looking forward to the arrival of this book. I watched the program on Holy Saturday. What w wonderful gift your program is. Thank you again!
This was fantastic! Thanks Eric and Company for streaming. Hopefully some day you’ll come to the Missionary territory of the SF Bay Area. Better yet Carmel/Monterey area.
Truly a masterpiece of a interview! Thanks so much.
Eugenia, why does it take you to finally present the story as you do and as it should be told? It seems it takes a lawyer to bring Jesus home to us, just as it took a lawyer (Philip E. Johnson) to debunk Darwinian evolution. Truly wonderful. I read you just now as far as the flip pages would allow me on Amazon, then ordered the book. Eric is not alone to be surprised. I think everyone here in the comments will have unreserved praise for you. Thank you both! I think much of the scriptures and gospels should receive your treatment, i.e., be told from within the times they were written, in as much detail as possible. Again, thank you.
Eric as always you have highlighted one more great book that I might otherwise have not known about. I am going to buy the hard cover version so I can read and then have it in my library. God bless u and your guest. I am reminded again that in the end , God prevails, goodness prevails.
Came for Yeonmi Park and was mind-blown seeing Dr. Constantinou being part of your guests! ❤️ what a pleasant surprise!
Wow, I'm amazed at the depth of theological understanding and its link to religious practice in the Orthodox Church. Definitely worthy of investigation.
The more of this I watch, the more fearful, but most importantly hopeful I become!
Right? Think of how quickly all this Jesus stuff is handwaved away without a second thought. No evidence is the claim. Au Contraire. Layers and layers of it for those who will seek it.
Tremendous. Just tremendous hour and twenty minutes of sharing. Thank you!
Just bought the book for myself and as Easter gift for friends! Thank you!!
I have watched this with great interest. Such an incredible discussion. Like most others have said, I definitely want to buy the book. I want to share it with an unbelieving cousin who love’s history. Thanks for sharing such wonderful content.
I find it amazing that so much that is plainly told in the Bible people are blind to. If one actually studies and ponders on what is told it can be clearly had by the message that emanates from from its words. Seek and ye shall find.
All respect is due yet I am still short. I love you Sir. And specially love Dr. Eugenia. BTW I am Greek Orthodox of Nazareth of Galilee
Hi, im not familiar with the history so I might sound real ignorant, my apologies. But Galilee are jews? Weren't the disciples from there?
Wow! What a wonderful interview. So many powerful insights. I think that I need to buy the book!
Amazing discussion…looking forward to getting the book
I’ve ordered this woman’s book and also Michael Medveds two books from his episode. Honestly some of the best book recommendations I have ever received. Thank you
Looking forward to reading this book. Thank you for introducing us to the author & bringing the book to our attention!
People should read the Bible instead of her book!
Awesome. Eric asked how is it possible that so many have not heard these things. I believe it is because most pastors do not do in depth teaching of the Bible.
Eric MUST interview Pastor Jon Courson in Oregon. He has three set commentary on entire Bible and they are so important and helpful. His story is inspiring 🙏
As someone who is woefully understudied, I know this book will help me paint better pictures when I explain the history of it. Thank you SITC for your "golden" presentations.
Ordered the book for delivery today.
Thank you Eric & SITC for recommending this POWERFULL BOOK!!!
The crowd were exceptional, and the author was as well. I love the sense of humor of Eric and his questions were excellent as well.
Just finished the audiobook. Very informative. And I like that she read it herself.
Thank you River. I was anxiously awaiting your insight. God Bless you and congrats to the Brits!!! ❤❤❤❤
Headed to the Orthodox Church myself, after 30 years as a Protestant. It was the beauty of Divine Liturgy that finally got me.
Nice and deep message. Greetings and blessings from Colombia, SA
wow, this conversation is so fascinating and rich, thank you!!!
I watched a Alice von Hildebrand episode ... got side tracked and this started auto playing ..... O HAPPY FAULT .... What an amazing discussion ... I just purchased this book on audible ... Thank You and God reward you !
Well this introduction can't be ignored. I paused it and bough the book right away.
Interesting. Good details on the subject, I think. I put the scene in poetic form. I wrote a series of poems from The Last Supper to the resurrection and the ascension of Jesus into heaven.
Another brilliant interview!!!
Great discussion. Thank you both
In tears by the end of this. Love I. Praise the King of Glory Jesus Christ our messiah
I found it interesting about Isaac being a type of Christ. But also, Dr W.L. Wilson M.D., D.D., LH.D., in his Dictionary of Bible Types also presented Isaac as a type of sinner:
"He is also a type of the sinner who should be punished for his sins but who finds a substitute in the Lord JESUS, represented by the ram caught in the thicket."
Of which it shows Christ as that lamb which was slain for our sing.
PS. To below comment; love this interview an find Eugenie extremely informative and interesting. Will definitely buy the book.
Incredible conversation. The book has been ordered!
I just ordered her book too.
Wow...excellent interview. Just purchased the book.
What a wonderful interview!!!!!
Thank you for letting me know another contemporary trustworthy guide into faith. I am Catholic.
Very interesting ! I learned so much
Wonderful discussion! I will be engaging with her book. Her research and explanations tie together so many details of the gospels and history in ways that bring great understanding of the "trial" of Jesus and His crucifixion. Am a Catholic...years after my agnostic/spiritual/"Christian"/Protestant...finally...Catholic faith. Have read other histories of the early Christian church and am totally engaged with Eugenia's study of this history founded on her understanding of the general and Roman history of the time during the life of Christ.
Loved this! Thank you
Wow! Thank you, Eric and Eugenia!! God is sovereign! So be it!
Great talk and interview, Eric. Looking forward to getting the book!
This is AWESOME!!!
Just read it, great book!
She forgot to mention Pilot's wife
Mt 27. 19
Besides, while he was sitting on
the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.”
It’s in her book.
Too bad you all did not study theology via Catholicism long ago- you could have been appreciating these amazing connections long ago... Revealed for centuries/millennia!
Wonderfully relevetory connections and teaching. Same place as well, hill of Moriah.
So many parallels with Christ.
Many "types" of Christ, Melchizedek, Moses, Isaac, David.
God is abundantly mysterious & wonderful❤
Thank you
The only one was like the High Priest of God was Melchizedek, no other was a type of Christ like you think even if this lady is saying that Isaac was a type of Christ. Abraham knew that God would provide an animal. He told Isaac God will provide. So Isaac trusted his father. And God did provide a sacrifice which was his son Jesus. God was showing Abraham ahead of his time that Jesus was going to be the savior of all sinners. Remember what Jesus said in John gospel, he said that Abraham rejoice that he would see his day, he saw it and was glad. John 8:56
@@virginiasanchez4614 Study the prototypes I've shared; it's amazingly true. God's blessings.
@@virginiasanchez4614ou yourself have just proven that Isaac is a type for Christ. Abraham/God father, Isaac/Jesus son. Sacrifice of Isaac made no sense, so ofc it was prevented. Abraham's faith, however was not pointless, neither was his example for future generations
Thank you
One of the best Socrates in the City ever. Thank you so much.
By the way, the full, original Old Testament is written in Greek, too! It's called the Septuagint.
The original Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The Septuagint is an early 3rd century BC translation of the original Hebrew.
Great conversation and credit to Eric for bringing an Orthodox person on the program.
Loved listening to this ❤️
Yeshua you Jews Jesus for you
As an Armenian I consider Greeks my brothers. Also, this subject fascinates me. I am looking forward to reading this book.
You’ll enjoy it. I’ve read it and learned so much.
When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a [c]tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this [d]just Person. You see to it.”
25And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”
Ok. I'm going to have to buy this book. Christ is King 👑 ☦️
This book moved me on so many fronts. I think academic Protestants have long been hijacked by 19th Century German "scholarship" and they "assume" that it (the so-called scholarship) is true. This book freed me from the last vestiges of that nonsense. I came to understand the amazing economic engine of the temple for Jerusalem. Settled religion and is analogous to settled science. Both concepts are corrupt, going all the way back to the First Century. This book actually took me back to the real-time unfolding of the events.
Thank you❤
One thing I will mention is that I do not appreciate the flak given to those in attendance of Protestant denominations church by claiming they don’t take church history into account. As a someone who serves in many ministries in a Slavic American Pentecostal church, I would say many of us take history and context into account when studying the word of God. It is still on the uncommon side overall, but it is also very common in my circles.
This interview was very interesting. I have a question. I haven't read the book yet but plan to. Does it really say that the scourging broke a rib on Jesus? Made me wonder some since Scripture emphasizes no bones were broken.
Dr. Constantiou is so patient with this guy...he is such a rude interviewer. How many times is he going to interrupt her and say "I jist didnt know that" and then attempt to explain what she is trying finish saying.
Wish that her Bible Studies were videoed and put on utube.
Of all San Diegans, please invite Karl Keating. Thanks and God Bless us all.
So, isn't the beloved disciple the one who wrote the apocalypse? Wasn't said his body was never found? someone answer please.
love his humor, natural and authentic speaker.
Got a copy 🎉
Very interesting! Did you know that in Hebrew Abraham said ‘God with provide to Himself THE Lamb, not a lamb. The word for the animal caught in the thicket is not lamb, but ram. As in a large strong animal
More Orthodox guests please.
It is so painful watching Metaxas constantly disturbing Dr Constantinou and not allowing her to finish her thought. 🙄
That is the problem with too many interviewers. They do not allow the guests to finish answering the questions they were asked. The only interviewer
who lets people complete their train of thought is Joni Lamb of Daystar TV. She stays silent until the guest has fully answered the question.
What is the title of her book?
Many Protestants maybe did and do miss the Jewish (and Patristic) background, but check out Calvin and others who were scholars as well as pastors...they knew a lot of the traditions.
Jeanne just dropping bombs! 👏👏👏
As you are discussing the Roman and Sanhedrin trials, it strikes me that in both parties being responsible for this, is a coming together of Gentile and Jewish peoples in being responsible for Jesus' death and it is the sins of both for whom Jesus laid down his life. Ultimately, however, Isaiah teaches us that God was pleased to put His Son to death to accomplish salvation for us. So, while Jews and Gentiles were equally guilty in putting Jesus to death, Jesus laid His life down willingly in accordance with the plan from eternity past.
Wow!
Have any of you watching this video made any judgments as to the similarities of how the Jewish leaders had such hatred for Jesus, and how they GATHERED PEOPLE TOGETHER to become a 'mob', and how that scene is reminiscent of what's going on in America? How college kids are being used to act as a 'mob' whenever the PTB decides when and where to make a scene?
Outstanding. Glory to God.
We had an Italian neighbor in Brooklyn who thought Jesus was Italian.
52:21 I HAD to stop here and comment!!! It makes sense that John may have been a priest, because he was the only one of the disciples who wasn't murdered. He was marooned on the island of Patmos where he wrote the Book of the Revelation...And James, his brother, was killed by Herod Agrippa after James led one of Agrippa's men to Christ. I'm speculating that Herod couldn't handle this news of the conversion and had them both beheaded. AND I'm also guessing that Herod was the ONLY ONE who had the authority to kill one of his men AND a priest...
Let me continue listening to this lecture and buy the book! This is all so fascinating!
I read the book last year. It will amaze you the detail Dr Jeannie has researched.
What Eugenia said about Isac Muslims also say this, but than about Ishmael
Allowing the author to finish her thoughts without interuption would have been wonderful in an otherwise excellent presentation.
His Only Son....is a movie about Abraham and Isaac from Angel Studios ....
Fascinating smaller details both about about St. John being buried in priestly vestments, and also the High Priest not being allowed to publicly mourn- and yet Caiaphas tears his garment when Jesus says He is the Son of Man prophesies in Daniel (coming on the clouds).
I am half way through…does Eugenia or Eric ever speak to the parallel of current times?
WOW!
Dr. Brant Pitre Book & Lecture, “The Jewish Roots of the Eucharist..” is phenomenal.. Catholics do have these held and taught.
At 3 AM...this was amazing
