I got a free Razor 650 with dead batteries. I followed your video, and I bought the same batteries. It is working and my grandson is going to be delighted. Thank you !!!
I know you made this a while ago, but we just discovered this. We got the mighty max batteries as you suggested. Your patience and detailed instructions were dead on! We did this on an MX650 model. It was a lot tougher and it took us a little longer, but it worked out and to see "the light come on" in my daughter's eyes was well worth it! To anyone that watches, follow his directions and r-wind many times if you have to...but stick to it, it will work for you just as it did for us. I can say that if I must do this again, it will go much quicker. I thumbs upped and subscribed. Thanks again!
Our new batteries are getting delivered tomorrow and I am going to follow the instructions just like you did. I hope it works. Thanks for the great video.
I just finished my kids 650 following your video and the results were perfect. We tried to save money and get a used one, but the batteries would not keep the charge. I didn’t take off the seat, but I literally ordered everything from your links and you saved my investment. Thank you!
Not 100% sure what that stuff is on the terminals, but if it is hot glue or similar, you could soak the glue in higher percentage rubbing alcohol, and it will soften up enough to just peel it away. If they happen to fit, might save you the trouble of clipping and crimping.
I tried to just remove the glue. Turns out the glue is only holding down the black insulation at the ends. The wires are soldered to the battery terminals underneath.
love the no-solder approach, i was horrified when i saw the factory batteries! Very easy hack, great video, and simplistic! much appreciated fine sir!!!!
Thank you for this! New Sub. Bought this same bike for my 5 year old granddaughter. She loves it. After 3 weeks, the bike just died but showed "full battery" green light. Had to call Razor support, take the bike apart to fix it. Made a great memory with my Granddaughters helping me put the bike back together. It wasn't easy 😛. But I will keep this Vid in mind when the battery starts to fail. Thanks again.
Thank you for the video. Just changed out my batteries and this video really helped. It took me 2 hours because of how hard it is to get to a couple of the screws but it worked great. Thanks again
Thanks! Instructions worked great. Took longer than I expected. Fighting with getting the bolts off seat and battery bracket using the allen wrenches was the worse. Feel bad for anyone with fat suage fingers. ... I was able to easily peal off the glue and rubber housing to cut right at the terminal to save wire length.
Great explanation, I’d say the hardest part of the whole thing was the battery bracket screws with the Allen key and all. But I do have one concern, I noticed that the mileage on one charge has dropped quite a bit than how it was when I first purchased the bike. Just wondering if anybody else has the same issue?
Plugs only fit one way. No need to mark with tape. Great video.. Those Mighty Max batteries are great. We also used them in a electric wheelchair. Better than originals. Personally I do not like crimping wires. They tend to pull out sometime. Soldering is much better connection. You will see in time how you get rot and dirt in your crimp connections
Thank you so much. I hadn’t seen your video before I cut my batteries out and had my first time soldering them back in. I will definitely use the clips next time.
@Miguel Aguilar 1:46 You can see the the small black fuse box on top of battery. If you take the fuse out of that box before doing any cutting it'll open the circuit and prevents short circuit while messing with the wires. Put it back last.
Hey body just watching your video just bought the batteries 🔋 Just quick question how did you know that that battery was the problem my bike has little click when I push the troaddlor but I think it doesn’t have enough power that’s why I’m getting new batteries
Hi, I watched your video to replace my batteries. I put in brand new batteries, the bike worked. Now they won't charge. Any idea why? I also replaced the charging port.
Is what I do as well! FYI there is no need for 2 30amp fuse! Just need one 30amp wired from last battery red terminal to electric motor. Is just 3 fuses is over kill
Thanks Mr Gizmo I just scored a MX650 for $40 same color as yours and the batteries are trashed I came across your video I’m ordering this batteries right away I will keep you posted. New subscriber. Thanks again.
I did it exactly as described and with the same replacement batteries off of Amazon. It worked great right away. For some reason the batteries won’t charge all the way despite the charger showing a green light stating ok charge. Any ideas/recommendation for why it may not be charging properly? Thanks and great video!
same issue here, video was so helpful to perform the wiring but once unplugged from the charger no lights are on even though it glows green with the charger plugged in
Great video! I was able to put the batteries in just like you did, even got the same brand. Downside is, still no lights when I turn the switch on. I checked the fuses, and they were fine too. Any recommendations what else to check?
I know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Kasen Caleb I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
How do you troubleshoot to make sure that it is the batteries? Our Bike doesn’t even have the LEDs come on at all. No lights, no clicks no led at the throttle or on the power switch…. The charger light comes on and shows green (charges overnight) and still no lights whatsoever appear on the bike. Is that a battery issue or another type of issue? We checked all three fuses as per your guidance and they are all good. Please help…
I'm confused did you connect a black terminal to a red terminal and that's ok? Seems to be working fine I just didn't know you could do that without causing a short?
So I'm getting ready to build my razor and I want to do the 72 volt system but I'm going to weld a tray right underneath the seat but above the back tire to hold two of those batteries and then I'm going to have four batteries where the batteries would normally go to make 72 volts are you aware of anyone trying this I know it's going to be heavy but I don't have the money for a lipo battery right now and I know I'm not going to go as far any reason why this wouldn't work that you can think of?
I bought these batteries and did exactly what you did and made sure everything was wired perfectly but when I went to turn it on nothing happened. The power indicator near the throttle only lights up when I plug it in but as soon as I take the charger out the light goes out. Please help I don’t want to go through all of this for nothing.
Fixed! If you had sparks like we did when plugging the wires into the battery, it means you blew a fuse. We got a new one from ACE and now the bike works great
Changed to nee batteries a d it went perfect but im still having the same issues with the green light on the charger not turning red. Iv changed the charger, and iv changed the charger port and and all connections seem nice and snug. Someone please help
I am looking at this bike for my son. Have you had good luck with them? I know the video is a couple years old but I figured I’d ask. Great video by the way. Did you buy a warranty with this bike? Thx so much.
why do you have to cut off the connectors? won't they just slide off to accept new batteries? Surely razor doesn't expect you to have do to this if you buy their replacement batteries.
Question? I did installed the new batteries you showed in the video I went 12 v 15 amps , can I use the same original charger that came with the razor 650 ?
Should be no problem. If you went to 15ah batteries over the stock 12ah, it just means the battery will supply current longer. It does not actually supply a higher current. May take a bit longer to charge, that's all.
Lee Schultz I bought second hand. I looked at Manual. I only have 1 fuse box. But I know it’s been worked on by an authorized razor bike shop. So I have an appt. perhaps they re wired and I just can’t get it too match
I installed my new batteries and when I turned the on button to on, the back tire started spinning like I had the throttle pulled to max speed. I don’t know if the throttle is bad, or that silver box (looks like a mini car amp for stereo) that the throttle runs into
@@caydot007 I don’t. I did have a person comment on this review that said he/she was going to try lithium batteries that I think could provide more power
Dome idea clip the wires off the battery just created more unnecessary work just remove the sillacone on the wire connections just pop them off put new battery in reconnect it rather make it more complicated
I charged the battery one at a time and now the on and off switch is on it gets bright and dim the wheel will turn just for about 2 seconds and stop. Do you think the on and off switch could be bad it never lit up till charger the batteries up separt
This is NO commentary on this video - as it was helpful - in and of itself. But, this was one of the most infuriating projects that I have done in a long time. Those Allen key screws that hold down the battery brackets, especially the bottom ones, took me literally hours. Plan for minimum 3 hours for this project if you have big hands or fingers. Nearly impossible. Painstakingly awful. If you have a bad temper, prepare to be tempted to throw tools. 😅
Lee Schultz I wish you could take a picture of how all the connections are put together on the 500. I think I put something together wrong after taking apart.
call me crazy..... but if I gonna do that much work... may as well cut out all battery holders and put one large 36 volt LiFpo battery pack. more power, faster charge, and less weight
This version of battery replacement for MX650 is by far the best one, it's the one I used!
I got a free Razor 650 with dead batteries. I followed your video, and I bought the same batteries. It is working and my grandson is going to be delighted. Thank you !!!

Well done. Perfect instructions. All the right details. Unbolting razor’s screws was the hardest part. Im not a “fixer” and I got it done. Thanks
Sir ,you are the best. Thank you, now I can ride my dirt bike with out my battery dying fast.
You are very welcome!
Yo um just one question does this make faster or slower
How long does it last
Thanks for making this for all of us dad's attempting to be heroes....!
Thank you sir, this was extremely useful. Your patience shows us you're a dad!

Nice! Congrats on the success!
exactly it was so hard
I didn't see this video... but I used these exact same batteries and they work great! My son loves it and it is a lot faster than the razor go-kart.

Great video for us non electrical men. Thanks a ton. You took all the fear out of this project.
Thanks so much u made it so easy 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You make it look so easy
Me and my dad trying to replace the batteries: Wait where is this ?
Ha! I had to do one wire at a time to make sure I didn’t mess up :)
Excellent video. Thank you so much!
Thank you I just got mine going I thought you had to sotter them you’re the man
Congrats! Pretty cool that now replacing the batteries should be easy!
FYI you should remove the chip fuse before cutting and crimping, and use insulated female spade terminals. But great video.🤙

Done. It worked for us. Thank you!
Thanks DAD!
To make this job way easier you can order a new wire harness from amazon or other suppliers that have the slip on connectors for about $15 - $20.
Thx so much! I was getting pissed just looking at that thing 😂
This is amazing. Recently got one for free because the battery is shot. Thank you so much for the info!

i got one a few years ago when i was younger. the original battery should last long if you take care of it and use it frequently
Yes, good job
Can I use batteries 12-15 amps instead of 12-12 amps.?
Do batteries in the description come with three right?
Yeah
Good job dude!
Awesome video
How the hell did you get in there to unscrew the bottom battery bracket. I cant get to it! What tool did you use?
why do you have to cut off the connectors? won't they just slide off to accept new batteries? Surely razor doesn't expect you to have do to this if you buy their replacement batteries.
How much of a difference would 15AH make?
What's the top speed on the new battery 🔋?
how long does the new battery last while riding the bike?
What is the range on the battery
You could just taken the wax off the old one and used it on the new one . No need to cut
Mine were not connected with wax
How long can you ride a razor 650 before it runs out of battery
All this bikes. Have 3 battery??
Can you put the link here so I. An order the correct battery. Loved your video.
It is in the description of the video! Let me know if you have any issues.

Replaced. Bike is getting power but now motor won’t turn over. Ugh.

You have to replace the throttle for variable speed
How long do the original batteries last
Really depends on how much you use them. My boys rode the daily for years. I would say they are good for 2 years with constant use.
Do these batteries make the bike faster?
I don’t think so. The same as it was new

Hmm - I should try to use those.
Omg thank you soo much it works 💯 %
Where is the video to the other one?
Bet if you flick the “ tamper proof” hot glue of the original batteries they already have the perfectly good connecters ready to swap the batteries 🤔
Nope! Would be nice though.
Do the disconnect’s have to be 12-10?
that size works well for the wire thickness.
Originals appear to have some type of waterproofing on top...
MistAtsiM yes! That is why you need to cut them. One user said you can probably dissolve the coating from them - but I cut them
Squirt some hot glue on the connecters if you wanna waterproof it.
Dome idea clip the wires off the battery just created more unnecessary work just remove the sillacone on the wire connections just pop them off put new battery in reconnect it rather make it more complicated
