I struggle go alone skating in my 34s 😢 anyway in summer . I love skating so much thats why i skate still. I live in a rural area where there aren't many skaters and the older you get the more people stop skating, which I find sad. Make a video about going skating alone and find joy in skating 🫶🏽 nice video about the mental health❤
I absolutely love this dude. Really needed this type of video with here my life is at currently. After getting out of a very toxic relationship I've been skating everyday and it just makes me feel how I did when I started at 15. I've used skateboarding as an outlet for the past 4/5 years. It helped me get sober, deal with difficult situations, I've made the majority of my friends through it, met so so many amazing and inspiring people who have led me to other interests, pushed me, and bettered my life. It has so many metaphors for general life, building toughness and just making you feel free. It's incomparable to most other outlets or avenues. Would love to see a more in depth/vulnerable video on the topic bro! Btw I'm jealous of your nollie flips haha, keep it up!!!
Great vid, I feel like a complete failure when it comes to skateboarding, 10+ years and still struggle with the most basic of tricks. I love your skating tho, I feel inspired!
Man, these UBC spots are such a throwback for me. What a nostalgia rush. I skated these spots (minus the park, which wasn't around) probably 23 or 24 years ago!
Great video! I made a similar one in 11th grade and, now that I have just barely started my Freshman year in University, these points you made are especially true. You may not know anyone, you may have entirely new surroundings, but you still have yourself, your board, and the creativity available in skateboarding to use these new surroundings to your exploratory advantage. P.S, that overcrook @2:10 made me audibly say DAMN!
Wonderful video! Well executed (as always), articulate, and succinct. All of your points are spot on, and it’s good to have this sort of video around to champion the merits of skating. Love your videos! Keep on with the good work 🫡
that’s the flatbar from mouse! i recently just had heart palpitations from being stressed out about my job and watching this touched my heart, i felt like i got to skate with you for the day.
Love your take on it! I support you and I want to see you win Liam! thanks for putting your time into these vids man! I love the sense of community that Vancouver skaters have!
watching this video was fun. you got a good style on board and what you say is 100% true, keep up. Im a new subscriber and i love that content. God bless you bruah
This is a great video. I try to explain this to people I try to get into skating, but it's so hard to. It's been just like, once you know, you know. This video will help people see the truth more quickly. Great work bro.
Great video congrats on that back tail bigspin! you should do a vid where you make a new ledge skateable by rub bricking and lacqeuring it that would be sick.
@@liam_dawson I just got back into skating after an 11 year hiatus. Crazy how much your body still retains, I thought I would be absolutely terrible but was able to ollie the first day! Definitely looking forward to where it will take me.
bro skating is my way out of depression fr... my life is not going well and everytime i go out my home with my board i feel like i disconnect from all of my bullshit problems
Not every skatepark is gonna be a friendly and welcoming environment this is simply not true. And to be honest with you, I've experienced the complete opposite of what you was talking about. It was absolutely toxic for no reason. But I ended up losing all those fake Friends at the skatepark, Because I ended up surpassing them after a 6 years Hiatus. Some of them were trying their best to devalue me and making me feel bad for no reason, By hating on me for allegedly doing the same tricks, and even by suggesting that I was doing drug because, I had dark circles because of poor diet, habits, and sleep pattern. Almost got into a Fist fight with the wanna be alpha male of the skatepark that thought he was the shit because he use to skate with Flo Mirtain back in the day. Had to leave this toxic environment for good. the moral of the story is : people doesn't have a problem with you as long as you start doing better than them and surpassing them. I would personally recommend skateboarding alone. Best decision I've ever made.
I agree w a lot of these points , but one thing I’ve never viewed as positive was throw little hissy fits at the spot. It actually shows weakness and makes us skateboarders look like children.
@@HenrysPokeCorner I would agree. I generally do not. My boards was previously chipped and worn, negatively affecting my performance. so I expedited it's way out.
Not sure I can buy into the community thing so much. My skate scene is super clique-y here and unless you're super good or super cool or spend a lot of energy and time trying to get into the clique, you're always on the outside. Sure, you can find friends on the outside but you still feel like an outsider amid an outsider activity and that can feel pretty crap. I've been skating for 15 years now and I'm not bad, and honestly I still shy away from the main park in our city because the vibe is so harsh there. Just saying, skating representing community is not always the case unfortunately man
@@bluebooper valid point of view. I can understand. From what I mentioned in that segment, my experiences lean towards small town skatepark communities I had experienced that helped me at the time. Certainly subjective. Thanks for sharing
Not all. I forced myself to sell my skateboard because there are people making jokes of me that I get to a point where I no longer want to show up and skate. I hated skating anymore because the people I hate also skates. I understand that jokes are for fun but it ain't fun anymore especially calling me names and didn't even had the chance to know my real name. Sometimes my kids makes me stick to Skateboarding because they also love it but I made them stop doing it too. I HATE TO THINK THAT ME HAVING THE SAME THING IN COMMON WITH THOSE dingbats. Better skate alone or with your kids and real friends...
Valid. Skateboarding is an extremely passionate endeavour, frustration is not uncommon. I almost removed, but it is subjectively fitting. Thanks for watching this video !
This vid makes me feel a bit better about not being good at skateboarding but still showin up to a park to have a fun little session. cheers man
That's rad ! Keep it up, an thx for watching
that's what it's all about at the end of the day dude, I bet you still kill it regardless!
Skating is my therapy, during lonely or rough times skating has always helped with my mental health.
@@notnotj1979 skating is like affordable therapy sessions, before choosing therapy 😅
I like how he went berserk and almost ruined his board while talking about mental health and patience.
"we always push forward on a skateboard" seems so obvious but is so incredibly important ❤
What a mature and nice video my friend, thats what we need on internet. Greetings from Brazil.
