And what even more absurd is that the guy is not even some big bad terrorist hes just some guy yeah a criminal but just some guy and jack freaking beheads him like nothing.
Or after season 2 or 3, in the final minutes (spoiler): jack died in that season. Got revived. Tortured. So after all that he breaks down behind his wheel crying. Completely relatable: Mondays, right? But he gets interrupted by Chloe saying that something new came up. Jack: sure, on my way. Like: what the f? 🤣

14:50 that sequence looks awesome. It's cool that there were games that everyone overlooked that still tried to mix things up and tried to put a twist on the typical gunplay.
As someone that has grown up with this show and LOVED/LOVE it to death, this game was the shit to me back in the day. I haven't seen the vid yet, but just talking from my pov. Imo, this game captures the style of this show to a T. From the sound effects, to the music, to the lighting, color grading and camera work. It's insane how they even got details right like how they used to shoot for example dialog scenes. Where they in the show would have two over the shoulder shots and one like profile shot where they would switch from one person talking to the other one. Even with the right zooming they did with that switching shot, it's insane how many details they captured and as a major fan of this show, that stuff if pretty mind-blowing and you can tell that it's made by people that loved the show. But when it comes to gameplay it can get a bit repetitive and the ''real time'' aspect of the show is nowhere to be found. Even in cutscenes, they will just teleport characters from one location to another. Also the frame rate wasn't always the best and the storyline is kinda a missed opportunity. Because in season 3, they hinted at jack having gone undercover with the Salazar's and that's why he had a drug addiction (that only played a part in like the first 3 episodes). So they easily could've done a plot around that, since this game is supposed to take place between season 2 and 3. Also, Jack's heart problems that he got at the end of season 2 are also nowhere to be found, and nothing that happens in this game ever plays a role in season 3. And I remember as a kid HATING those driving levels with a passion. Those driving levels were the reason I've never finished it as a kid and I just ended up watching all the cutscenes with a cheat code unlocking all the levels. Also, screw those mini/hacking games. Some are okay, but most are trash. Also, can I just say that 24 is EXTREMELY underrated! Like, no one ever is talking about it really any more, even though it used to be a huge deal back in the day and was from the same era as shows like Lost and Prison Break. And it has influenced so many other shows and was pretty groundbreaking at the time. I remember as a kid actually shaking, because it was so tense to me. I've rewatched every season like a year ago, and it aged so well and it's so well-made and it has such a good flow to it. I mean, it had 8 seasons, a 9th season in 2014, a spin-off show, and it even had a film. It's so weird to me how forgotten this show is. Personally, I still own every season on DVD and Blu-ray and I hope someday that every season is gonna be released on Blu-ray. Anyway, time to watch this vid. 😅
I think cop shows in general aren't as popular with younger generations who seem to be (rightly, in my opinion) seeing through the "hero cop" narrative pushed by the police and reinforced by media. There's obviously still an audience for them-- NCIS is on, what, season 27 now?-- but public conversation is taking police brutality and even the concept of police and prison abolition much more seriously than any time in the last 40-50 years, from what I've seen, and I think that has an effect on what concepts audiences are willing to buy into. As for back nearer when the show finished, I think a similar thing happened to Lost. That show was a HUGE deal for so long (and like 24 I never watched it lol) and people talked about it for longer, but eventually, people moved on, and now it's really only discussed nostalgically, rather than being analyzed and speculated about. I wonder if there's a sort of "phenomenon fatigue" that shows that aren't such runaway successes don't suffer from. Like, ads played for it all the time, people were discussing it constantly, episodes would rebroadcast almost every day so if you missed it you could catch up... and once it was over a lot of people might have gone "that was exhausting, let's not think about it for a while. What else is on?" 24 might have experienced that.
I really enjoyed 24 as well. I never watched it when it originally aired but I think I remember binging the 1st 3 seasons of it years back & just being completely hooked by it.
I think people underestimate how much having "something to look at" helps make what could be a repetitive section more fun. Even if in practice it is the same gameplay you've been doing for hours, doing stuff like this game having the news helicopter watching you and getting to see what you're doing from its perspective makes the moment more memorable and interesting. Little touches and flourishes go a long way, even if they're relatively minor.
Wow, I had no idea this game was open world. I absolutely love using PCSX2 and shark-hacks to explore cities. One of my favorite, is True Crime New York which you already covered. Thank you for this!
I'm a big 24 fan. I can appreciate this game as an S-tier technical accomplishment. It's great for fans of the show who will enjoy more of Jack Bauer's story, but I wouldn't recommend it to non-fans. It unfortunately falls short in several areas, especially the car missions. God I hate them.
Imagine if Melbourne House handled the game. They're basically known for whatever dark rituals they do to make the PS2 dance like in the Transformers Armada game.
I remember not finishing the game (because video game backlog), but was like pretty far into it because i enjoyed the game. Definately a 7/10, leaning more on 8 with the interrogating dialogue But the sopranos game, dont even get me started
Preach it brother! Those car missions, specially the ones where you're chased by the police can burn in hell. But the rest of the game is mostly fun! Playing as Jack Bauer is just pure gold.
@@minimme That's too bad. A few years ago I tested Gran Turismo 4, Yakuza 2 and a few other games. I am a huge fan of the PS2 era of games and love to see them in all their hi-def and higher frame rate glory.
@@SK91NO I used to play games on a crappy RCA television. Later on I bought a nicer Sony TV with S-video and component connections, a definite upgrade. I'm still really impressed with what emulators can do nowadays, far surpassing visual quality and fidelity of anything back in the day.
Fun Fact: Sony Cambridge also made all the James Pond games (Robocod Etc.) before Sony bought the developer. But if you've done 24, you musr cover "Alias" at some point too :D
I’m so in love with your videos, from the games you choose to talk about to how you talk about them. Looking back and finding new things to love about old media is what nostalgia is really about, but every other content creator’s approach is just “look how stupid we were for liking the things we liked when we were younger.” While it can sometimes be fun to absorb that content, there’s never any attempt to understand why we liked it in the first place, when the best part of returning to old media is that you get to experience it as two people: the wise adult-you with discerning taste, and the child-you that discovered it and experienced it for the first time when every concept felt new and exciting. Your content captures both perfectly and it really stands out among the piles of other video game content. Keep doing what you’re doing, I love it!
Having not grown up with the show but spending a lot of my mid teens playing mgsv, it feels weird hearing Keifer Sutherland’s voice because I can only hear snake’s voice
BRO, i used to play this all the time as a kid! The gunplay was one of my favorite features! Interrogation levels were a cool idea but it felt too harsh and nerve wracking for me to complete at the time lol. The car driving physics are not the best, considering NFS MW and Carbon had already been out by the time. Nonetheless it's one of my favorite games still to this day!
The splitscreen stuff reminds me of another PS2 game I loved called The Plan (spelled out as Th3 Plan). It does very similar things while also being a stealth game. It was made by Eko Software (who I think nowadays are best known for the How to Survive games) and Monte Cristo (who haven't done much of anything noteworthy, but I have heard of that 7 Sins game they did)
I have played this game a lot when I was 9-10 years old. I've never even watched TV show and at that time don't understand any word in English(I live in Russia, but game never been translated), but that was the only game that was available for me at that period of time. I've also never have ps2, but can play for free at the store where they sell consoles and games. They put that game in the console and almost every day after the school I came to that sore and play 24: the game, unfortunately, I never had a chance to beat it, they didn't have a memory card, so every day I start new game and tried to beat it as fast as possible, I've even reached the last mission few times, but for some reason I died all the time and the store was always closing every time. I've played that game so many hours, that I can even quote some dialogs in pure English without any understanding what I'm saying. I've beat that game recently on emulator, that bring me back so many good memories, I have no regrets abut that game.
I got 24 the game for $2.50 because this videogame store does a 4-$10 on og xbox/ps2 games. This was a pretty solid game! One of the more memorable moments to me was interrogating a guy from Little Seoul, and i didnt believe him jokingly until he booked it out the back door, cutscene and everything. He got away the first time from not processing the whole thing, but got him on 2nd attempt. Good game.
This game is one of my best friend's guilty pleasures, and your video has helped me see why. I might have to see if the local game shop has a copy today.
this game was so fucking good for what it was supposed to be and the graphics and lighting were mind blowing at times, especially during the cutscenes inside of CTU
I remember renting this game when it first came out, and I was so confused and bummed out that I was playing a M rated shooter with no blood. Edgy teenage me could not enjoy the game after that lol. It was so confusing, because I remember playing a demo of it with blood, but then the full game replaced it with smoke. I'm probably the only person that cares but i would love to know details on why they did that. That being said, I do remember being impressed with the graphics and physics though.
11:20 If you have a decent enough PC you should try running the game on PCSX2. I've been hitting 60fps with just about every game I throw at it using Vulkan.
I was just thinking about this the other day! I loved the show growing up so I got the game, but I never finished it. Unfortunately, I have no idea where my copy is but I think I’ll have to go digging through my attic one day and see if I can find it.
I remember when this came out and being a big fan of the show I had to get the game. The game wasn't all that great but I kept going because how strong the plot was and how it felt like 24. I would love to see someone do another 24 game and do it right, So far the closest thing to a 24 game is Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is amazing! For some reason it seems to be ignored by SC fans but I've played every SC game and Blacklist is the top dog for me.
24 the game is one of my favorite games of all time. It hits so hard. The interrogation scenes were incredible. It hasn’t aged too well though unfortunately
I remember the show was pretty big back in the day, and a local video game magazine held a big contest where the main prize was to win an evening in a movie cinema where you could play this game on the big screen.
As a massive fan of the "24" series and Jack Bauer throughout the 2000s, I bought this back in 2006 as soon as it came out. For a good while it was one of my favorite PS2 games. It certainly is one of the games I played the most across any console I ever had.
I was around 15 when this game came out and I was so unbelievably hyped for it that it seems kinda silly looking back. Yet, excluding the awful driving I remember it being very solid and entertaining, especially if you were a fan of the show. It really felt like a lost season of 24 and that was good enough for my 15yo self. Great video, thanks for bringing back some the memories :)
Spy Fiction for the Ps2 is definitely one of the games you should absolutely check out. Talking about a game that has some great mechanics, an underappreciated gem and probably a future classic
Great review! I remember renting this game from blockbuster as a teen. I know exactly what you mean about the genre of this game, in the same bag as The Godfather, Reservoir Dogs, and Sopranos games. All those ps2 gta clone tv tie ins. What’s kind of funny is that while my parents wouldn’t let me play gta, they did let me play these games because they liked the movies. Oh the early 2000s hahah!
@@Mace2.0 Yeah, I laughed my ass off when I saw Fred Durst was in the game. The entire roster and arenas are so obscure. Like, you can fight in the restaurant Tyler works at, the airport that Jack visits while looking for Tyler... it's such a stretch.

All I remember about 24 (a bit young for it at the time) was the controversy about all the torture.
Got good memories too, I used to watch this series with my father when I was really small, it would air on open tv late at night
He did? Unless it's a Patreon exclusive I'm sure he's never covered True Crime.
Definately a 7/10, leaning more on 8 with the interrogating dialogue
But the sopranos game, dont even get me started
Preach it brother! Those car missions, specially the ones where you're chased by the police can burn in hell.
But the rest of the game is mostly fun! Playing as Jack Bauer is just pure gold.
I'm not a 24 fan but I loved that game.
Wasn't expecting this level of production quality from a game that is long forgotten. Fascinating stuff as always: Cheers mate.
24 would be a great game to play on the PCSX2 emulator. It would stabilize the dodgy frame rate and run at a much higher resolution.
unfortunately it's pretty dodgy on PCSX2 still, but it has improved a lot the last few years
I'm actually questioning this. Hopefully it's fully playable *PAL version*
@@minimme That's too bad. A few years ago I tested Gran Turismo 4, Yakuza 2 and a few other games. I am a huge fan of the PS2 era of games and love to see them in all their hi-def and higher frame rate glory.
@@oldmanonyoutube Yakuza 2's lighting is pretty borked at a higher resolution, and neither of them really had issues with framerates
Hi Larry :)
This was the game that made Kojima change Snake to Kiefer Sutherland
Amazing to see someone cover...this.
I love this channel & was surprised my Aussie friend hadn't heard of it.
For some reason just assumed everyone in Australia knew each other
I own this game because I was a big 24 fan, and it was surprisingly a fun handful of hours. Great video!
Having not grown up with the show but spending a lot of my mid teens playing mgsv, it feels weird hearing Keifer Sutherland’s voice because I can only hear snake’s voice
Odd, for me it's the exact reverse. Me and my brother instantly thought of Jack when we heard Snake in MGSV
I hear Roebuck's voice
See I hear kiether Sutherland in the lost boys
24 has pretty heavy mgs vibes to it i think thats why kojimmer made him punished. season 1 and 2 are peak tv season 5 is pretty good too
And when I played MGS5, Snake suddenly sounded like Jack Bauer. I was constantly expecting him to demand people tell him where the nerve gas was
Really incredible that Kiefer Sutherland games are like an entire genre
lmao its basically this, Call of Duty (WaW and BO4) and Metal Gear Solid V
BRO, i used to play this all the time as a kid! The gunplay was one of my favorite features! Interrogation levels were a cool idea but it felt too harsh and nerve wracking for me to complete at the time lol. The car driving physics are not the best, considering NFS MW and Carbon had already been out by the time. Nonetheless it's one of my favorite games still to this day!
I absolutely love this game. Got for my birthday in 2006
The splitscreen stuff reminds me of another PS2 game I loved called The Plan (spelled out as Th3 Plan). It does very similar things while also being a stealth game. It was made by Eko Software (who I think nowadays are best known for the How to Survive games) and Monte Cristo (who haven't done much of anything noteworthy, but I have heard of that 7 Sins game they did)
I’ve actually owned this game for years, being a fan of the show, but barely played it. Now, I really wanna go further with this game.
0:01 I played all of these, life was good
I have played this game a lot when I was 9-10 years old.
Absolutely loved this game. Wild it had all those actors return AND real tv actors in new roles. So many great memories
Holy sh*t, the shows cinematographer was involved with cutscene direction?? This is crazy
keither sutherland probably said more words in one cutscene of 24 than he did in the full mgs5 campaign
so nice to see and hear from you again. much love!
24 its a product of its era, the most recent season are there, at least it kinda works as a pocket novel and the game seems to follow the same path
The most recent are there?
@@expendableindigo9639 yeah they exist cannot say are good or bad, are forgetable
As a huge fan of the show, this game looks like a great way to spend a couple of rainy weekends. Nice vid.
So, it is here... I've been expecting it...
Good game.
Never thought that God of War 2, grand turismo, black and the 24 game would be examples of pushing the Ps2 to it's limits.
really, not GOW 2?
GT4 runs at 60FPS unlike this game, so IMO that elevates it to higher levels.
As a 24 fan, I really loved this game. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
This game is one of my best friend's guilty pleasures, and your video has helped me see why. I might have to see if the local game shop has a copy today.
The composer of this game also did the absolutely amazing soundtrack for 007 Everything or Nothing.
this game was so fucking good for what it was supposed to be and the graphics and lighting were mind blowing at times, especially during the cutscenes inside of CTU
The yellowness instantly reminded me of watching 24 when i was younger
I never knew about the series before playing this game. I loved this game so much, it was very enjoyable for me. And now i love the show too.
24 is my favourite show and to this day whenever I rewatch the show I play the game between season 2 and 3
I used to rent this at Blockbuster all the time. Game was wayyy ahead of its time
Sony Cambridge was a legendary studio in the early to mid 2000s for the PS2. let's not underplay that.
This game got me into the TV series and it looked just az amazing as a teen
I remember renting this game when it first came out, and I was so confused and bummed out that I was playing a M rated shooter with no blood. Edgy teenage me could not enjoy the game after that lol. It was so confusing, because I remember playing a demo of it with blood, but then the full game replaced it with smoke. I'm probably the only person that cares but i would love to know details on why they did that. That being said, I do remember being impressed with the graphics and physics though.
11:20 If you have a decent enough PC you should try running the game on PCSX2. I've been hitting 60fps with just about every game I throw at it using Vulkan.
My Dad randomly bought Primal when I was a kid and I remember loving that game
The same team who made MediEvil made Ghosthunter? Guess that means the Sir Dan in one is officially an ancestor of the Sir Dan in the other. Neat.
My dad got this game for himself but I fell in love 24 the game. Have nothing but good memories with this game
Man I always miss your videos, they are so freaking good
I was just thinking about this the other day! I loved the show growing up so I got the game, but I never finished it. Unfortunately, I have no idea where my copy is but I think I’ll have to go digging through my attic one day and see if I can find it.
I played the hell out of this demo then I eventually got the game and was impressed lol
Xplay's review on this game was legendary back in the day, great video.
24 the game is one of my favorite games of all time. It hits so hard. The interrogation scenes were incredible. It hasn’t aged too well though unfortunately
You make incredible content! I've watched and loved every video!!! Please keep it up!!
I’m literally binging the series and just finished season 2 today and now you’re making this. It’s fate!
I remember the show was pretty big back in the day, and a local video game magazine held a big contest where the main prize was to win an evening in a movie cinema where you could play this game on the big screen.
Snake in another universe.
I still have a ps2 in my closet with this game just incase I want to play it again. My favorite show.
As a massive fan of the "24" series and Jack Bauer throughout the 2000s, I bought this back in 2006 as soon as it came out. For a good while it was one of my favorite PS2 games. It certainly is one of the games I played the most across any console I ever had.
Liscence styled gta games are always deeply fascinating.
It completely blows my mind that the ps2 is capable of doing this at all
This is remarkably similar to the Alias licensed game from the same era - glad to see it got a shout out.
Is that actually Sutherland reprising Bauer? 5:55 sounds an awful lot like John DiMaggio
Peter Jackson’s King Kong wasn’t a GTA style game but was a movie game that was pretty good
Man, when I was 11, this game came out and i loved it. Watching the show then playing the game was so cool!
Damn, never heard about this game, what a gem
Expecting this to have 24 hours of gameplay is unreasonable.
When I hear “all licensed games suck.” The ps2 was the king of great licensed games.
stellar content man. really impressive stuff as ever - glad you're back!
you know its a good day when minimme uploads
Spy Fiction for the Ps2 is definitely one of the games you should absolutely check out. Talking about a game that has some great mechanics, an underappreciated gem and probably a future classic
Holy shit, someone else remembers Ghost Hunter. That game surprised the hell out of me when I bought it for a whole $3.
This game has one thing over the others good voice acting
So glad to see you back after 2 months
this looks like one of those games you'd only see a bombastic trailer and be excited to play only for it to be cancelled or never show up again
PLEASE do a video on the PS2 Fight Club game, it's right up your alley. It's so weird.
Oh yes, the game features Meat Loaf, Limp Bizkit, and fuckin' Abe Lincoln in the same game. Also, the cutscenes are hilariously bad.
@@Mace2.0 Yeah, I laughed my ass off when I saw Fred Durst was in the game. The entire roster and arenas are so obscure. Like, you can fight in the restaurant Tyler works at, the airport that Jack visits while looking for Tyler... it's such a stretch.
when i was a kid my parents would watch 24 once my brother and i went to bed
hearing that clock sound coming from the living room always scared the fuck out of me
If you ever want a trip, check out the Japanese exclusive 24 Pachinko machine simulator on ps2
Ghost Hunter is one of those games that I have rebought repeatedly, over the years. Even still, own a copy, to this day!
Hope you make a video on it, one day! it truly deserves more love and recognition than it got❣️
🖖🏾🧐💯🔥🔥🔥
Why is this more detailed than most modern games.
Wow... i never watched this show but this game looks like a modern story driven game. Very impressive.
I rented this game 3 times. 3 times I beat it. The game got me into the show as a kid. Have been a Jack Bauer fanboy ever since.
24 game would be a great place to extract voice lines from for the metal gear solid V games
Howling at the Tony Hawk Scarface cover. Nice. That along with The Godfather and The Warriors games were all solid. I need to try this 24 game, I'm a huge fan of the series but for whatever reason never gave the game a try. Glad I discovered this channel; I've enjoyed this and your Driv3r videos, looking forward to delving into more of your content.
