I have a pond in my backyard, (probably 4 acres out of 8 acres that I live on) and I occasionally set up poles over night for catfish. One morning, we check our pole and it’s gone. My dad spots a bobber out in the middle of the pond, so he goes to see if the poles on the other side of it. There was a monster catfish and it started pulling my dad around. He let go because it was about to flip him over, and a few weeks later I catch a 4 foot long 50 pound catfish. I guess that’s what was pulling my dad around.

My 6th grade teacher said someone up north on a big lake was sitting on a dock with their bare feet dangling in the water & a big fish like a pike or something bit onto their foot & cut it up pretty bad.
I have some giant stripe in my local lake, I hooked something years ago in a boat and it almost pulled me in and snapped my line, I don't know what I'd do if I hooked one in my kayak 😂
I was up north in Wisconsin. There’s a Lake coght Townsend Flowage. They got a lot of stuff there tons of it and something smashed my line and it probably took me a 30 minute battle trying to get it up and every single time I would try to get it up it would I would see it and will go right back down and I can’t believe I was holding a huge ass Pike probably 30 32 inches thing would come out of the water, and then it will go straight back down or let it take all my line we go back to where it was before thing was huge. Its teeth probably could’ve made a necklace. I was using 9 pound line so I had to be real careful. Let them take pretty much most of my line and just let him take me around the lake till he would get tired and I could reeling back up then he would just go back in the water signaled over to a boat to help me because maybe they could help me land this thing say any Quitman because I did not have a big enough space to put this thing on so I get on the boat and that was my first mistake while getting on the boat. There was too much pressure and the line snapped and I could see it come up of the water and swim right back down, and I still go for that thing every day nobody else is caught it.
That’s y you usually set you reel to a lower torque so the fish doesn’t pull you but tires itself out otherwise you do run the risk of tipping it also helps if you hit it dead on in the front of your boat or leaning away from the pull
Also keep the rod it the front of the yak so it will turn the kayak not flip it, was given that as a tip from my dad the same day he caught a 6 foot blacktip from the yak
1. Nowhere even close to a world record. 2. No way that a fish will tip your kayak unless you are doing something dumb. 3. That fish CANNOT "easily bite your hand off"
Hooked a giant sting ray on my kayak and it swam under me and flipped me I got my phone before it sunk all the way down and lost my rod and prattle and I had to float in and I almost called the coast guard
Bro i lost i giant pike yesterday in a pond cause i thought there was only rainbow trout in there but i got my spinner bit off. New spinner and 10 casts later i catch a smaller 17 ish pike. I give it to my dad and on his second cast he caught a pike. So theres a giant like 30 incher with a rooster tail in its mouth. Now that i know pike are in there im gonna try topwater next week

I had a 3ft-4.5ft salmon jump almost a couple feet after snagging my top water popper it ended up unhooking itself in the jump but damn that was crazy for my lake

Yeah it's good eating size, we don't eat large pike because they don't taste good but they're really fun to fish. In sweden I caught almost exclusively northern pike as a kid and they get proper big, generally not as big as muskies tho but we don't have them in europe

If you can't set your drag and reset it while reeling a fish in, mom and dad shouldn't' let you go fishing alone. Also, a near world record pike would not have fit in that net.

Pop that gill open lay your thumb down in the pocket it’s jaw made you’ll feel a bone hold onto that sucker. As long as you got control of your kayak and a big net you can do it but another person works so much better

Run some 50lb braid you wont get broken off again. I run 50 to 80lb test but i fish saltwater. On a few poles I run 40lb red cajun mono.
