Whilst I definitely respect your opinion, I completely disagree. I think his status is pretty fair compared to his quality of work. He’s not a bad actor. And he’s done some nice work. But he wouldn’t even crack my top 50 actors in recent times
He was so good in Goodfellas. Just watching those scenes you get that sweaty Coke filled mania. Should have won the Oscar but I think it hit too close to home for most Academy members.
@@GammaNu955 the ending is genius. We see life through the perspective of a mobster constantly paranoid. Every move could be his death, the ending is 10/10?
R.I.P. Ray, I will miss your entertaining acting, I became an instant fan clear back to when I saw " Something Wild." My condolences to his family for this unexpected terrible loss.
I'm glad to see him still alive and acting! I'm happy that a lot of these actors from my moms and grandparents era are still here acting in films, making good and classic content, aside from today.
Thank goodness Liotta comes back to give us the best mob entertainment. Those eyes🥰. I heard he was adopted and it made me like him more, I’m looking forward to watching this movie.
Great Actor and personality. It's well worth mentioning he voiced Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, still my favourite GTA and well known to gamers.
Ray Liotta was a top choice to play Tony Soprano, but he turned it down, stating he did not want to commit to a television series. Later, Liotta was in talks to play Ralph Cifaretto, but ended up not taking the part. Ray would end up taking a role in the prequel film 'The Many Saints of Newark'.
Saw it in Dublin. It’s very solid as a movie and if you love the sopranos like I do you’ll love it, and I loved the characters too but in my opinion the plot was messy and convoluted so don’t expect to be blown away by it
Ray Liotta reminds of all of my Italian uncles; funny, scary, a little bit odd, and is the accidental sun of the universe in every room they walk into. Guys like him are most lizard-like, meaning that they need to be with as few people as possible when they're chillin' , otherwise they meltdown and freak out; those guys usually have a family story that is used when discussing family lore, like "Ray and the deep fried turducken incident," or "that time Ray punched a police horse in living nativity scene and we can't go to the public pool until his probation is done."
Grew up about 20 min. from Newark ironically. And for those that saw the movie there was a little Joe Pesci easter egg thrown in there for good measure. And Pesci himself is from the neighborhood the characters are from in Newark.
Agree. It’s better now that it’s been awhile. His skin was so pulled, he looked like he had same surgeon as Nancy Reagan. Men’s skin is tougher/thicker than women’s, harder to make their facelifts look natural.
@@thunderousapplause How about the face jobs on Faye Dunaway and Rene Zellweger? Oy vey! And Barry Manilow and Cub outfielder Sammy Sosa (Sammy went from dark complexion to fair complexion) also look dramatically different. And requiem aeternam, Ms. Joan Rivers.
His Henry Hill was overshadowed by Pesci and DiNiro in the eyes of the critics, but he provides the surprising morally ambiguous observer in Goodfellas, who is both attracted to and repulsed by the brutal gangster life.
Ray’s been a great actor forever, but decades of smoking seem to have taken their toll on him. Today people think vaping is the answer, but it’s all bad. The irony is getting a Covid vaccine, then doing little else to care for your health. Now Ray does Chantix ads. Movie looks great.
The Sopranos was one of my fave shows ever, and Goodfellas is my fave movie. I grew up in old-school Brooklyn, then most of my family went to NJ and I went to Long Island when my old neighborhood went south (long before heavy gentrification there now). It was a great place to grow up, tight-knit neighborhood, takes 3 hours to jog with my Boxer because strangers and neighbors just stop you on the street to chat, hang out on the stoop, offer me and Rocky water and treats for him, next thing you know they want you to stay for a bbq, backdoor always open, GP and brother 's family lived in two houses across the street, and an easy commute to my job in Manhattan. We learned lots of lessons on how to be respectful, good people, looking out for each other, shovel snow and/or bring food to the elderly and/or disabled even if you barely know them, etc. These shows & movies remind me of stuff I grew up with but in a good way, scenes looked like the old neighborhood, etc., and yes, we did have organized crime but in other areas like Bensonhurst (where Sat Night Fever and many other movies and shows are set in, filmed, etc.).
Rest In Peace Mr. Liotta, thanks for sharing your gift with us!!!!
Terrific actor and should have been a bigger star.
I think most times type casting they want to do something else but their good at mob .
he’s a pretty big star tho

Couldn’t agree more. Ray 4Ever
Not everyone wants to be a big star. It can be more trouble than it's worth. Making a good living as an actor is accomplishment enough.
Ray Liotta never disappoints playing a mobster
Actually he disappointed in this movie. His Italian was terrible. He needs to only play Irish gangsters
@@GabGotti3 oh, that's a shame. I had high hopes for this movie - I haven't seen it yet.
Worst mob movie of all time , sure does come close
He was amazing in Killing Them Softly. James Gandofini was also in the movie.
He was amazing very different character
RIP to Liotta and Gandolfini
Great actor, Ray Liotta. Always very convincing in his portrays in any role he plays.
Not a fan of Operation Dumbo Drop? 😂
Love him! Those intense eyes, great hair. He still is great. Underrated actor
Those eyes! No wonder they wanted him to play ole blue eyes.
I didn’t like the fact this Scotch/Irish blooded guy played an Italian. His Italian was terrible in the movie. 😡
I never thought I would hear Ray Liotta say he likes to be home “chillin”
He was great in this movie, He actually plays two characters and he kills it at both of them. I love this new movie very much.
DeNiro & Pesci get all the accolades but Liotta is a huge reason Goodfellas was so great. His narration throughout the film is so very underrated.
Definitely
Best narration ever
@@gtrriffs they could have done without deniro
Have watched Good Fellas more times than I'd like to admit! Liotta is the BEST!!
He rocked. RIP.
he did really great as Tommy Versetti in GTA Vice City
@Johnny Caruthers still voice acting
@Johnny Caruthers He didn't say it was a movie. He said that he was great in it, which he was.

Legend. His roles in Goodfellas & Blow are unforgettable.
He was amazing in Corrina, Corrina with Whoopi Goldberg and Tina Majorino too!! Sweet Gem of a Film that doesn’t get the props it deserves…
Ray, one of the greatest ever. He was a scary cop in Place Beyond the Pines.
Also in Unlawful Entry. We had it on vhs probably 25-30 years ago. His character was super creepy.

WOW! Ray played 2 parts in this movie.

I still wouldn’t mess with him though. He says he’s never been in a fight but I’m sure other people did the dirty work for him.
He was great in Smokin' Aces too.

Why does no one bring up Narc? He was completely astounding in that movie
That was a good one. Real gritty.
