This is a man who never fantasized about being interviewed.
He hates, he does it out it courtesy and to promote the movie or anything he does. He always looks so uninterested, on every single interview ever.
Just like Robert De Niro
@Matthew Rendenm no… some people actually have social anxiety so this shows are NOT for them, but that doesn’t make the show bad or fake
best comment ever (a guy who knows the difference between sucess and fame)
@Matthew Rendenm not really, I’ve been to his show and they had Chris jens worth as a guest and it was pretty fun, I recommend to people to go at least once
I’ll never forget Chase telling a story a while back saying Nancy Marchand who plays “Livia” was reading dialogue in one of the early episodes and asked him, “Who is this creature?” Chase stated, “It’s my Mother.”
Even better, she said something like "I trust this creature I'm playing is dead"
Ona da rip
David Chase is a very complicated person. I read an interview with him about his childhood. It was scary.
for some reason i repeatedly get the impression that he and james did not like each other at all.
yet another achilles vs agamemnon situation.
@@Darkness-ie2yl Gandolfini greeted him with "hello Satan" and Chase said that people would not know him if James would have done more press for the show. Chase gave an interview to the Talking Sopranos podcast and you can understand a lot of things reading through the lines
The Tony Soprano character as portrayed by James Gandolfini was easily one of the greatest performances in history. He was just so phenomenal in that role.
Especially if you knew James or have seen him in interviews he is the complete opposite of Tony Soprano.
@@francisalbert1799 I remember listening to an interview with Steve Schirripa where he said how nice James was in person and how different he was from the Tony character.
One in a billion casting
Having not being familiar with his acting prior to Sopranos, the s6 dream sequences in the coma had me like “ wow this guy can act!” Never seen Ton’ so taken aback and level
Amen! Six episodes left of season 6 to go!😬
Paulie: Commendatore!
David Chase: 😐
Cocksuka lmao
Love that scene

Small hands, that was his problem.

@@prisonmike729 Yea, a regular “Richard Pryor.” 🙄
@@michaelfrankel8082 👎👎 OMG, please don't insult Richard like that. 😉 There's absolutely nothing funny about this guy at all.
RIP james. You'll never be forgotten.
James is back in the movie, his voice anyway. So is Michael Imperioli, who introduces Tony in the movie, again, by voice.
Amen.
This comment gave me goosebumps. James Gandolfini has left such an impression in my life through just one character. It's haunting
Somehow I had 0 idea he was dead.
One of my favorite David Chase moments is when some of the actors had concerns, comments, and even criticism with “their characters”, Chase response “who ever said it was your character?” Mans brutal.
He was like the reality check to method actors.
@@joliecide yeah... That's right..... That reality check is there..... He lookslike that at his speak.......i think that's well spoken......
Chase is slowly morphing into uncle Jr...
I thought the same when I saw him walk out !!! Lol
Just need him to start singing core ngrata
I think he looks a lot like the guy who plays Carlo Gervasi. In fact, Carlo always seemed familiar to me and I think this is why.
Ryan Gow it's funny you say that, remember when Jr. was on trial and the sketch artist drew him up. That was Chase lol

I'm definitely seeing The Many Saints of Newark in the theaters. So hyped for this!
@@angelstrange4065 The Theater experience is better
@@angelstrange4065 where’s the fun in watching it at home?
Me too man me too so frickin pumped
@Agent 39 I don’t believe in pausing movies, it kills the momentum. I never miss pieces of dialogue because I’m always fully emersed in the experience. People talking during the movie is a very rare occurrence in my case, you probably just live in a crappy area.
I’m not rich enough to afford a home theater set up, and even if I was, sitting at home is boring as hell.
Also, I respect the filmmakers hardwork and their films enough to pay admission to watch them the way the filmmakers intended them to be seen.
@Agent 39 most movies I would agree with you but there’s some films that become an event if its highly anticipated like this film which has a huge fan base
This man is the Bill Belichick of TV, he produces the best stuff and does NOT want to talk about it.
But is he as good at cheating as Belichik?
The Sopranos is pretty the much the only good thing he made. But that was great.
@@TxxT33 - he wrote great episodes of Rockford and Northern Exposure.
Greg Popovich too lol
We will see if he is belichick without his brady, James gandolphini
Kimmel: "Do you agree with that?"
Chase: "No."

It's like having a piece of James Gandolphini back with us...Having his Son portray him...I'm sure he is smiling down too.
And they add James' voice to some of the narration in Many Saints. And the opening with the Sopranos theme song gave me chills.
Smiling up
yup. makes me happy.
Just when I thought I was done watching sopranos clips…. They pull me BACK IN
Story of my life
I have high hopes for this movie. If David Chase is behind it, it'll be great. RIP James Gandolfini.
David chase is behind this
After seeing the Saints of Newark tonight, just when you haven't watched your DVD Sopranos collection for years, just when you think your out, my sopranos DVD collection has dragged me back in, cannot wait for my rewatch binge, season 1, episode 1. Thankyou David Chase
Kimmel: “With all due respect I’m gonna tell you he sounds like him”
Chase: *”what are you gonna argue with me now?”*
Casting Vera as Livia was an absolute genius move.
Just finished it, she did an amazing job.
You know, casting her proves that Tony reallty has mother issues, because she has a lot of traces from Edie Falco, the woman who plays Carmella. And, at the same time, she really looks like Livia. Amazing casting by the team. Only problem I have it's probably with Billy Magnussen's Paulie, although I think he will grow on me as time passes on
Kimmel : I mean he *LOOKS* like him but he really *SOUNDS LIKE HIM*
Chase : ......... no 🤣
Chase is a legend, very honest haha
Chase is a legend, deserves better interviewing than this
Late night TV has only retards doing the interviewing these days. Imagine Johnny Carson doing it.
Watch his interview with Peter Bogdanovich. It's a good interview in part because they're equally pretentious
@@sirarthurfiggis - the Sopranos podcasts of Bobby&Christopha has a good Chase interview
The WTF podcast interview is awesome if you're a David Chase fan.
Maybe, but Chase was probably dragged onto the show to promo the movie and it was never going to be anything but superficial. And I think Jimmy was sincere when he said he was worried about oversharing, so he was holding back. And just because someone is a legend, doesn't make them good interview material. Jimmy is capable of really masterful work. His interview of Mike Lindell was one snap after another, but he still let him talk.
I've been binge watching Sopranos clips on youtube lately, and I can't believe how many amazing details David put in that show that I missed while watching the series at first, simply by not paying closely attention. He's truly a genius! 🙏🏻
You can watch it many times over and pick up lil things you missed, oh yea!
I hope this movie blows the roof off all the theatres, mr chase is a genius
I can’t wait for this film. I will definitely go see it in the theaters. Last one I went to in the theater was once upon a time in Hollywood and that was worth it too.
Same here. I just might see it in a theater, but I have a very nice 82" Samsung with a great home theater system. Maybe I'll play it safe or maybe I'll take chance. I am vaccinated, so I should be OK.
I’m glad Chase himself admits that Michael does not sound like James.
Ikr. Thought so too myself. Love he's just being honest about it.
…Jimmy just got exposed 🥶
Yeah the pitch is totally different. Jimmy probably meant accent..which, Michael would’ve done for the role.
@@belrapture Truth be told, I was taking a stab at die hard Sopranos fans who swear up and down Michael sounds just like his dad simply due to them being excited to see James’ son portray young Tony.
It's so amazing that Mr. Chase has the look and the mannerisms of one of the BIG guys in the community, if you know what I mean? Just look at how he is seated, with his hand behind his head and almost daring you NOT to go see the film. I think this guy is awesome and this movie is going to be even MORE awesome.
Guys like this don’t talk much they just do.
This movie took a turn after James Gandolfini's death. They switched it around. David Chase really is a Genius. And that word is thrown around to a lot of people who aren't. Chase is.
How long did it take to write it?
1 min
@@Wabbajock_Dugatti I wrote it in 10sec. I’m a genius
Take Chase over Gilligan/Gould and David Simon any day. Do love those other writers though
@@kylebyrne8076 i kinda agree although simon might've just gone toe to toe with chase with the wire. the writing honestly blew my mind.
I always remember being overwhelmed with joy everytime the HBO tv static intro came on followed by the drums of A3 and the opening shot of Tony driving through the Lincoln Tunnel...no other HBO tv show intros could ever compete with that
It's so sad we lost Gandolfini. He was an excellent actor and his son will be great in TMSON.
He just walks in and seems startled by the audience haha I love David Chase
Kimmel: "Do you agree with that ?"
Chase: "Lemme tell you a couple of three things"
Thank you legend for blessing us with the masterpiece that is The Sopranos
Such a breath of fresh air to have Jimmy Back ❤️❤️❤️
No Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones movie can get me as hyped up as Many Saints does. The greatest show ever hands down.
All of breaking bad’s story lines were wrapped up, besides Skyler and Walt jr’s life after what happened. There wasn’t much to work with in El Camino.
@@MrFring13 el Camino was kinda just an extra two episodes of BB not exactly a movie. I liked it though
@Agent 39 the only clip from breaking bad in el Camino is Jesse talking to Mike, everything else was filmed in 2019, you can tell, Todd look different, and Jesse looks different. And the scene with Walt and Jesse is also filmed in 2019.
@Agent 39 false
@Agent 39 Of course your not gonna know what’s going on if you haven’t seen breaking bad, that’s why is called El Camino “A breaking bad movie”
I’m so excited to see this. I hope we get to see the stories and one liners we heard about!

I haven't been this excited for a movie in a long time. It's a good feeling
Great way to honor Mr. Gandolfini.
What hooked me on the Sopranos was the dynamic between Tony's gangster life and Tony's family life. I loved Tony but I also LOVED Carmella.
Can't wait for this one!
gandolfini would be proud of his son and how the whole series evolved and the whole fanbase and impact in the popular culture that was created in the past years , i strongly believe the Sopranos os the best tv series ever far better than GoT , breaking bad or even the Wire !!!
p.s. who else missed the big guy , RIP Skip !!!

I am so watching this my eyes are gonna pop out.
Of course the younger Tony would not sound like the older Tony - the gravelly voice David Chase is referencing would be the product of age and years of drinking and smoking cigars...
Exactly! I think Michael has NAILED that slight tongue-against-the-teeth accent that Jim played Tony with. He sounds great!

another outstanding interview from Jimmy Kimmel💥💫👍👏🏽💕
Let us all bow too Mr. David Chase
Perhaps Michael also sounds and moves like his Dad cause it's called ACTING and he's prtraying not his young dad but a young Tony Soprano? Michael Gandolfini shouldn't be typecast as a James Gandolfini clone. It's early in his career. Shower praise on him for this but don't burden him. May many other diverse roles showcasing his talent in myriad ways follow. The way Jimmy is banging on about Michael being exactly like James is well-meant but borderline disrespectful and he does not realise that David Chase is deliberately being defensive about it and trying to steer the conversation away from that.
It was just Jimmy's opinion after seeing the film (which we both haven't yet). The same thing he was trying to convey could be said about John David Washington, for example, who sounds exactly like his father Denzel.
@@katlis No, Jimmy’s a twot.
