  • In this video I take a deep dive into my step by step process of drawing a comic book cover using Adobe Photoshop. Some of the topics I cover are how I create perspective grids, using clipping masks, and layer effects like outer glow.

    I really don’t understand why you don’t have millions of views yet. The workflow, art, and lifestyle of a super pro artist are all freely being shared here. Why wouldn’t we jump on this opportunity? Every time I watch a video with only thousands of views, I’m like, “I have access to professional comic book creation strategies” and “I get to be taught by one of my favorite artists.” I pray that this channel will be be greatly blessed!

      you may not have the same tools, but most softwares have something similar. Look at it more from the concept and the how, rather than what i use.

    I wish I could see the Caldera Crater of Rinjani Mountain. It's in Lombok Island, east of Bali, Indonesia. I was born in Lombok, but grew far away west from it in South Sumatra. Hopefully I'd get the chance to go there soon enough.
    Anyway, awesome entertaining educational very well edited video. Always a great journey whenever I watch your videos. And the art always turned out gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!

    The fact you only have 4.6k subscribers is criminal. Your tutorials/explanations are great but you combine it with great filmaking and i cant think of another person in this space that does this. You should call Dave finch and get back on his channel to boost this.

    Wow, great job on the snow monsters! At first I thought it was just really interesting snow/ice texture until you started inking/colouring. Turned out really nice. For natural wonders I want to see the Glowworm caves in New Zealand.

    Man i actually don't live too far from these northern lights but have never been there. I really really need to take my family and visit those one time!!! It's really special! I'd also love to see the Niagara falls sometimes and some of those hidden beauties. Honestly so much too see! Luckily i had my bell activated for this channel. Trying not to be on social today to avoid spoilers otherwise hahaha

    One thing that I think really separates your comic art from others is the way that you change the complete blackness of the inks to slightly less than black at times (ex. very dark brown, blue, red, etc.). It baffles me how it leads to more realism and artistic flow. I often wonder what part of the workflow leads to the blacks being slightly dampened.

    • @FrancisManapulArt
      @FrancisManapulArt  Рік тому

      Thanks! Yeah it adds a more subdued look specially when you're trying to create separation from the foreground and the background. I'll try to make a video on that process in the future.

    Why us PS so expensive in Brazil?!?! I cant get even close to affording it, but it is still helpful to have masters at digital art(like you) teach the concept! Congrata and thanks!

    • @FrancisManapulArt
      @FrancisManapulArt  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah it's pretty pricey. I wouldn't pay for it until you can make money of it or use it professionally. Included in my sub is Premiere which is what I use to edit my videos. That said there are plenty of free softwares you can use to accomplish close to if not the same results.

    Really loving how you do your videos, man. Your B-roll shots are great. I like seeing the real life stuff too. And this cover is amazing! I think you could consider yourself a digital painter, btw. ;) Also gotta check out whatever that action line plugin you were using was. Does that snap to a point like rulers in Clip Studio, Procreate, Sketchbook Pro?

    • @FrancisManapulArt
      @FrancisManapulArt  3 роки тому +1

      thanks Ray! Funnily enough, my peak interest in making these videos co-relate to how much storytelling b-rolls I can include lol I'm not familiar with Clip studio, but the Lazy Nezumi guidelines are like rulers for your line work, so it sticks to the directed path.

    It's a good cover, but, I believe it was a mistake to make Superman so small in the image. He looks like The Atom fighting subatomic monsters. Sorry for being so critical.

    • @FrancisManapulArt
      @FrancisManapulArt  3 роки тому

      No apologies needed, I totally see what you mean. That said this actually makes me feel like the cover was more of success from the stand point of the goal of editorial and myself which was to make Superman feel small by comparison to the challenge ahead of him.
