- The Choir of Westminster Abbey sing Richard Farrant's setting of Hide Not Thou Thy Face during a service to commemorate the passing of the last British veterans of World War One.
Totally appropriate to the occasion and sung with the professional skill that we take for granted from this great choir.
A grand posting in the truest meaning of the word!
I traveled to England this summer and saw the red poppy with black center all around to honor 100th anniversary of WWI. It was my privilege to take holy communion at Westminster Abbey, and the Rector prayed for peace throughout the world.
My parish church choir sang this beautifully yesterday for the second Sunday in Lent.
Singing this in Boston this week. Used this for practice. Thanks for posting.
We will be singing this anthem tomorrow for Lent at Trinity Episcopal in Galveston, TX.
Takes me back to the days when most Parish Churches had a good choir.

Beautiful poppy and magnificent performance!
@radam238 Thanks for your kind words. It is important to remember those who gave their lives from all sides in these futile wars.
@radam238 Good comment! There is a clarity and unadorned purity that is quintessentially English in Farrant's music.
