This is a beautiful conversation. Connected to and related to it a lot. We have a marae (indigenous community center) at Awataha Auckland New Zealand which needs to be completed. It was established 30 years ago although it remains incomplete, it has undergone a transformation in its identity and direction. The mosting interesting thing about this conversation is our marae has a totem pole on the site, that was gifted from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth peoples of Vancouver back in 1990 when our marae was first opened. It is an incredible story and an incredible connection between our Marae and the Nuu-Chah-Nulth peoples. Highly coincidental from my perspective. I would love to see something come of this conversation for our marae. Deep love and respect to you both for this 💕
PS - really loved the interview format - especially the voice monitor thing - great effect and showed the emphasis on listening. I really appreciated it. Also big respect to @DamiLee for her very noticeable silence and just listening - no questions, comments, nada. Just the dude talking. I wonder if that was hard to do for such an expressive person as @DamiLee 😁

What a wonderful interview! I'm an architecture student in Australia and I'm interested in working with our Indigenous communities here, so this was so insightful and interesting to listen to. Thanks for sharing this with us.

A lot of this is generated independently in (I don’t have them in front of me because I’m bedridden away from my books; this is by memory) Christopher Alexander’s THE TIMELESS WAY OF BUILDING, THE OREGON EXPERIMENT, THE LINZ CAFE, and THE PRODUCTION OF HOUSES.

Very insightful interview, the way he interucts with the community is so great. It literally cant go wrong since they design the buildings by themselves almost

That's right. Talking to him really gave me new perspective on my work and on the profession. Also really made me reflect on how backwards my architectural education was!
