Ah, the Hansen Brothers. They were not in the movie, "Slapshot", all that much, but they made a memorable impression.
This was one of the movies that was on a lot when cable TV ist came to my area

this movie is based on the old EHL the Long Island Ducks there was lots of brawls back in the 60's and early 70's .
Those are the legendary Hansen brothers from the movie Slapshot. The film is mostly a comedy, with serious undertones, about professional hockey in the USA in the 1970s.
I come from a very big hockey city in the northeast US and professional hockey in the 1970s was an obsession. The play on the ice was crazy and the fans expected every team to have "goons", who were enforcers to intimidate their opponent.
Those were the good old days!
Lol them Hanson Brothers. Slapshot was a comedy about a lower league hockey team. The song was a hit before the movie was made and was used as a sort of theme.

It's actually mostly a comedy movie
It’s from a mid 70’s comedy movie called “Slap Shot” about semi - pro hockey in the USA. The game was violent back then, but nothing like this. The game is nothing like this today other than the occasional fight.
Hi Fay, thank you for publishing this movie. Please don't bury the brilliant song "Right Back Where We Started From" with the singer Maxine Nightingale. Apart from that, this sport was harder back then than it is today (due to a lack of protection), but more fun, from the player's and spectator's point of view. Please don't forget that ice hockey is still the fastest team sport in the world. In Germany, fight in this sport in the subclasses was normal until the left came with the diversity estate.

I played high level ice Hockey for 30 plus years lots of injuries 14 surgeries but I still live playing🙏my friend played pro with the goalie in the movie .
It's physical comedy there. This does not happen in real hockey games. Remember this is a movie and that violence in there is supposed to make you laugh.

It's hockey they had a huge brawl before the game started! Hockey is about fights,hits, and skating! It's Canada's national game! Those guys are thugs
The movie exaggerates for effect. The referee saw the bloody faces on the three players and figured they were prone to fighting and needed a stern warning. But his obsession with that blood was so great that he could not wait for the singing of the national anthem to finish to issue it. These days the blood on those player's faces would have prevented them from being let out on the ice at all. Professional hockey was so plagued by violence at one point it was on the verge of becoming a complete joke as a sport. Efforts were made to clean up the game, but even so, a player in a lower tier league died last year when an opponent kicked him during a fight and slashed his throat with the blade of a skate and he bled out on the ice. Otherwise, hockey can be a very graceful sport with a lot of very fast action. "Right Back Where We Started From" was an international hit for Maxine Nightingale in 1975. But this clip is a poor introduction to the song as you found out.
