    This was a fun job and can't believe the customer snagged them for £7! Who can spot what Ron & Reggie were up to?

      You should make a list of the songs you use in your videos. Also thank you for making videos that show pride and real craftsmanship in a dying trade. Hopefully it will inspire more people to learn it.

    Dan, you are quite literally "The Man" :) So surreal having my shoes in one of your videos. You have done a fantastic job. I forgot to mention that they were also in the original Crockett & Jones box and shoe bags. I know they were pretty battered but I still think they were a nice find. Thanks ever so much again!

    These videos make my day. I live in the Triple Cities in Upstate NY, and all of the older generations of my family worked for Endicott-Johnson. E-J was the world's largest tanneries and shoemakers for about 75 years. Watching these videos makes me feel like I understand what used to happen here when E-J was still in business. Even more so, these videos make me appreciate why making the investment in high quality shoes is something everyone should really be trying to do. Shoes that can last a lifetime (or more!) through repairs at a cobbler are an obvious choice that I wish more people would make.

    Talking of getting knickers in a twist, My girlfriend woke up late today and had to pay the mortgage.
    She jumped out of bed pulled her jeans on, got dressed and drove to the city to the local building society.
    She walked about 5 mins through the city and queued up in the building society.
    It wasn’t until she was at the counter waiting for the clerk to process the payment she glanced down and to her horror her knickers from the day before were hanging out the bottom of her jeans! 🤣🤣
    She had to discreetly crouch down, yank them out and stuff them in her coat pocket but not before the whole building society had seen them first!

    • @andersjjensen
      @andersjjensen 3 роки тому

      To speed things up. Leather dye is alcohol based, but the alcohol doesn't have any chemical effect on the process. It's just a carrying medium to get the pigment into the fibres. After that it can just sit there and evaporate... or get flashed off right quick in a hurry.

    Love the rolled-up cutoffs. In college in the 80s, because we didn't have any money... when the knees blew out of our jeans, we'd cut them off and roll them up just above the knees. We'd get another year or so of wear out of them. ;)

    7 bucks!?!?! (And yes...I am aware, UK pounds and US dollars are a bit off comparably, but still close). What a great thrift!!!!! The uppers look fine!!!! Any used Crockett and Jones shoes...are worth 7 bucks. Great find. Not sure I like the California Vibram soles...but you made them look fantastic. A 4 to 5 hundred dollar pair of shoes, for $7 + $200 = $207...I'd say that is a good deal for a pair of Crockett and Jones wingtip oxfords. Two thumbs up! 👍☀️👍

    Hey Dan, you asked us to comment on anything funny that happened to us today, well… I saw an interesting cobbler using a product called “jerk-off”. This phrase, in the good ole USA, is equivalent to the British “having a sherman” ! Thanks for showing us your good work.
