You should make a list of the songs you use in your videos. Also thank you for making videos that show pride and real craftsmanship in a dying trade. Hopefully it will inspire more people to learn it.
Dan, you are quite literally "The Man" :) So surreal having my shoes in one of your videos. You have done a fantastic job. I forgot to mention that they were also in the original Crockett & Jones box and shoe bags. I know they were pretty battered but I still think they were a nice find. Thanks ever so much again!
I picked a 5 gallon bucket of black beans last night in the rain. I don't know if that qualifies as funny or interesting, but there you go--you get what you ask for Dan!!
It would be interesting to hear your take on socks since they play off almost every pair of shoes. One step further - Socks from your shop for your fans could be a nice tie-in!
I work at a hotel, and when i came in there were several guests in our lobby being loud and cursing, so i had to go over and ask them to be quiet about 30 min later, the main offensive group went to bed, and it was a group of guests that had stayed with us the previous few nights and i had interacted with before that was left. I walked over with a stern look and said look guys...how many times do i have to tell you... (at this point they started looking like oh crap what did we do) ....thank you for being quiet and calm. it really makes my job easier. they all just sat there blinking for a few seconds before they realized what i had said (they were a few drinks in) and started laughing with me
Something funny that happened today. I watched your video with my 4 year old little girl. (Were american) and she said, "Dad! This guy talks just like peppa pig!!" Because of your accent. She was very excited. Thanks for the great content :)
These videos make my day. I live in the Triple Cities in Upstate NY, and all of the older generations of my family worked for Endicott-Johnson. E-J was the world's largest tanneries and shoemakers for about 75 years. Watching these videos makes me feel like I understand what used to happen here when E-J was still in business. Even more so, these videos make me appreciate why making the investment in high quality shoes is something everyone should really be trying to do. Shoes that can last a lifetime (or more!) through repairs at a cobbler are an obvious choice that I wish more people would make.
Can’t believe how excited I get seeing the notification for your new video come up!! And I love laughing at the dad jokes!!:) and I always wait to hear Joy to the World! Thanks so much for making the rest of day happy!
Love the rolled-up cutoffs. In college in the 80s, because we didn't have any money... when the knees blew out of our jeans, we'd cut them off and roll them up just above the knees. We'd get another year or so of wear out of them. ;)
I started reading these comments as soon as the video started and I didn’t understand why people were saying random things about their day until I got to the part in the video were you asked people tell you what was going good in their life that day. Now these comments make total sense. Lol!
What a transformation. Whoever gets those shoes will be chuffed. Also, nice to see how much you enjoy your job; even with the bad dad jokes and singing. :) Nice getting an window into your life.
It's all about the tools. Yes, there are Craftsmen in every field. But, not all are Craftsmen that take pride in their craftsmanship. Some say "It's Good Enough", a Craftsman says "It can always be better" and goes the extra mile, doing things no one will ever know he did. I've been painting cars since k was 12, and still think k can do each job better than the next. I'm a Jack of many, master of one. This is enjoyable to watch. I'm not scared if work, I can watch you work all day.
I worked as a shoe repairist when I left school many years ago so I understand the pleasure You have when you return shoes back to their former glory, you are a skilled guy, all credit to you, and I hope your business continues to thrive!
the highlight of my day so far is hearing your dad jokes, I laughed out loud at the grenade one (sniggering as I wrote that) can't wait to tell the kids that one.
I saw 3 Dog Night in concert and they were amazing even as old guys!! I love your videos i find shoe repair fascinating that you can just tear it all apart and make them new again! Some day i'll own a pair that's worthy of repair!
Hey Dan, you asked us to comment on anything funny that happened to us today, well… I saw an interesting cobbler using a product called “jerk-off”. This phrase, in the good ole USA, is equivalent to the British “having a sherman” ! Thanks for showing us your good work.
amazing of how many components a regular shoe is made. my grandma always took me to a shoemaker. liked the atmosphere, the heavy tools and especially was fascinated by the glue. thank you for the nice memory!
What a beauty. I watched my Dad for years in the shops from the early sixties and got all sorts of info from him. showing me what he did and why. This video and your presentation are very well put out. I love it. As a boot and shoemaker's son. Who became a plasterer. Nice one. Beauty.
I know it would be a tad difficult(with consent of course) but to be able to see the customers reaction to the finished product would be amazing... You do exceptional work.. 🥃
I am now going to measure the welt. Goes on to simply drag his finger vaguely along the welt. The mathematics of this man is to advanced. Thx Dan for great content
Love to watch your channel, interested anything you say and the different work you do in each film. I couldn’t understand British English to began with till today I understood your British English totally that makes me so happy. Your fan from Phoenix AZ ,US , 😊💕
Today the little salad seedlings I thought I'd killed came back to life! Excited to see them growing again. Love your dad jokes. Immediately shared that first one with a mate. Hope you do more of your odds-and-ends videos!
This video had many great things in it. Top picks for me are the lovely customer who didn't recognize her own shoes because Dan's work is so good (obviously). And then the massive blue (suede?) boots behind Dan as he worked on the new soles.
I never thought I would spend hours watching a British cobbler who tells corny jokes and sings American oldies as he explains what he’s doing! I’m mesmerized and simply can’t stop watching. Dan does a fantastic and thorough job down to the final shine. I just subscribed. I’m well and truly hooked. I wonder if Dan is a rugby player in his spare time!
I never expected shoe repair would be so interesting to watch. But it's always really nice to watch skilled workmanship! Great work! Cheers from Sweden!
I did finish my garden shed today, but its not a normal one its like a small climbing gym. Thanks for asking! love your videos, especially because your so calm. Your voice is also just reassuring. And also its just satisfiying to watch you do your work because you do it so percised and fine, keep it up!
Love seeing shoes get a complete makeover- it takes a real craftsman to restore these, they came out beautiful! Love the dad jokes, glad to see you so busy❣️
I know nothing about repairing shoes but I do know that putting average threaded screws in a shoe is a no no, lol. Nice repair job Dan. Those blue massive platform knee high boots behind you caught my eye, love them👌
Nice repair job. I think you should do a video on the crazy boots you showed in this video. I can wait to see how they look when you’re done with them.
Wow that's a bargain really, 7 pounds for the shoes plus a repair for 200 to make them even better than new. Definitely worth while checking out second hand shops, charity shops and carboot sales, never know what you'll find. Great video again Dan!
11:35 maybe not that pair, but I for one would love to see a longer video on some absolutely destroyed shoes being brought back from the brink, a sort of "Old Shoe Rescue"?
A friend told me about this channel. He said once you start watching, you can't stop. And he was right. It's fantastic to see how this is done and what a marvelous job on these shoes. Cheers from the Netherlands. 💪🏻
I got here after watching climbing shoe resoles and accidentally got to one of these videos through auto play. now I have watched so many videos. All super entertaining and interesting to watch. Also seems like vibram have monopoly over soles.
My nearly two year old toddler got to play out in the rain today for the first time and his reaction was one of amazement and wonder. It was glorious. He was in genuine awe before laughing and clapping his hands. Not so much a crazy or funny story but more-so just a happy one.
Done much of the same myself before. Picked up a pair of Ferragamo Lavorazione Originale cap toes for dirt cheap on eBay. Sent them off to the cobbler, cleaned them, steamed and boned out the creases and dings, and conditioned and polished them to a mirror shine. Total cost for my $750 shoes was $50 for the shoes, $140 for the cobbler and a me doing something useful for a few hours when I'd normally be watching UA-cam.
Did this myself, found a pair of Loakes, Clint, in a charity shop for £4.Had them cleaned. a leather half sole and steel tips on the heels for £40. Voila, like a pair of brand new shoes..
Nicely done! I really need to take a pair of my Chelsea boots to my local cobbler, I was sat by an open with my family a little while ago. I was a bit too close to the fire and it heated the glue on my boots which now are not properly sealed to the uppers 🙈 doh!
I stumbled upon this channel by a pretty random UA-cam recommendation. Let me say first, I am from Florida, USA, so the most expensive pair of shoes I own is a boat shoe. I'm not interested in shoes really at all, but I'll be damned if it isn't satisfying as helll to watch! Also, mad respect for this kind of passion, hard work, artisanship and attention to detail required for this career. Subscribed, my Dude!
Great job! It reminds me of when my mum sadly threw away my favourite shoes from when I was a teenager. A pair of handmade leather levi's. I loved and livet on them and I had the sole replaced 2 times. I really miss them even if I probably would sprain my ankles if I tried walking in them today. Following "funny" thing happened to me today. Was cleaning my boa constrictors terrarium today because she had taken a dump in her water. A 10 years 8 feet plus boa eats and deposit a lot. Trust me. After cleaning it all up I let her back in. Checked back on her 10 minutes later. And guess what? Exactly. She kindly had left me another deposit. In her water.
In response to 11:00, I had a girl over last night and when i took her into my bedroom , as we were taking our clothes off I used your catch phrase "let's get sticky" . This was a fun job and can't believe the customer snagged them for £7! Who can spot what Ron & Reggie were up to?
Who won the Tic Tac Toe game??? Was Ron commiserating his loss or celebrating his win?
You should make a list of the songs you use in your videos. Also thank you for making videos that show pride and real craftsmanship in a dying trade. Hopefully it will inspire more people to learn it.
Do you know of anyone in Canada who replace and repair leather boots. I have a pair that I want to put hobnail leather soles
Drinking Red Bull.
I was slow to wonder why there's tic tac to on the Singer, then realizing Ron and Reggie were playing, haha Who won?
Dan, you are quite literally "The Man" :) So surreal having my shoes in one of your videos. You have done a fantastic job. I forgot to mention that they were also in the original Crockett & Jones box and shoe bags. I know they were pretty battered but I still think they were a nice find. Thanks ever so much again!
Not only were you lucky in finding these shoes you were lucky finding Dan to repair them. Well done.
@@sodorflubbs5000 Absolutely. I watched Dan's videos before I got the shoes so I was lucky.
My pleasure Ben they will last years now.
I picked a 5 gallon bucket of black beans last night in the rain. I don't know if that qualifies as funny or interesting, but there you go--you get what you ask for Dan!!
interesting to me, whats a black bean!?
It would be interesting to hear your take on socks since they play off almost every pair of shoes. One step further - Socks from your shop for your fans could be a nice tie-in!

I grew up outside of Syracuse. I remember EJ
You should watch Bedos leatherworks, he restores shoes that are beaten to hell and looks impossible to restore
Too bad this Hochul creep of a governor is destroying our state, I’m on Long Island, also had a place in Delaware County on Route 23 Stamford.
Crockett & Jones from a charity shop! What a find, amazing. They look great, Dan.
Hahaha classic
So glad I happened upon your channel. You're a delight!
Can’t believe how excited I get seeing the notification for your new video come up!! And I love laughing at the dad jokes!!:) and I always wait to hear Joy to the World! Thanks so much for making the rest of day happy!

Never thought Vibram could look so sharp, but dinosaur skin sold me. Great job!
Interesting things that happened to me today is i found your channel and got to watched few of your videos 😊
I always enjoy watching you work!
I started reading these comments as soon as the video started and I didn’t understand why people were saying random things about their day until I got to the part in the video were you asked people tell you what was going good in their life that day. Now these comments make total sense. Lol!

Got my old job back! Happiness! ;-D Plus finished sewing 4 new tunics/dresses. And lookie there, learning new shoe tricks today. wow. :-D

Very nice work Dan 🤩 ( nevermind the blue stripper boots on the back tho 😅😅😅 ). Glad to have you back 💛
I’ve been doing shoe repairs in New Zealand for over 30 years and I learned a lot from your video well done 👍
His shops clean, he hard-working and has been trained well , no short cuts, every cobbler should strive for high quality work
‘ Jeremiah was a bullfrog’. Love the singing. Maybe you could add in a few dance moves, too❤️❤️❤️
It never gets old. I love watching you ply your trade. Another result!
207 for some fantastic shoes, shows why cobblers are so awesome
Thanks appreciate it!
I worked as a shoe repairist when I left school many years ago so I understand the pleasure You have when you return shoes back to their former glory, you are a skilled guy, all credit to you, and I hope your business continues to thrive!

Yeah another video ! Your videos are kind of therapeutic, it just makes my mind at ease seeing shoes get restored.

Your one of the best on UA-cam. Thank you, I have learn a lot by watching you.
I am now going to measure the welt. Goes on to simply drag his finger vaguely along the welt. The mathematics of this man is to advanced. Thx Dan for great content
Marvellous job! That person made a great buy.
Absolutely!
我是一个中国老太太,我非常钦佩你的精益求精工作,看到你把每一双鞋子在你的巧手之下都让它变成如此新奇靓丽,我虽然听不懂你说什么,但我看你的视频感觉非常开心。谢谢你小伙子。
I just love the sound and sight of the stitching machine
I’m a senior woman, I like seeing how things are done, plus having a few laughs. Thanks
Hello from Montreal (Canada) This is not only a wonderful shoe makeover, it is a "artistic job" ! Bravo!
Love to watch your channel, interested anything you say and the different work you do in each film. I couldn’t understand British English to began with till today I understood your British English totally that makes me so happy. Your fan from Phoenix AZ ,US , 😊💕

Gorgeous restoration. Dan, it's obvious that you take pride in your work. It shows from start to finish. Well done, sir. Well done.
Love the old Gulf Oil barrel in the background. I worked at a Gulf refinery back in the 80's.

Great job, been watching you since before the pandemic, im from San Diego California, I love how you transform old shoes into new one
I did finish my garden shed today, but its not a normal one its like a small climbing gym. Thanks for asking! love your videos, especially because your so calm. Your voice is also just reassuring. And also its just satisfiying to watch you do your work because you do it so percised and fine, keep it up!
What a magnificent restoration! I love seeing old tired items being brought back to life with some TLC.
Looks gr8 ! What a gr8 job and work. Now I know where to send my Allen Edmonds with JR leather soles and Lulu tips.
I find your videos soooo relaxing to watch!!
My interesting part of the day: My oldest son turns 18 today! :)
glad to see you give a pair new life and keep them out of the landfill
Love seeing shoes get a complete makeover- it takes a real craftsman to restore these, they came out beautiful!
Love the dad jokes, glad to see you so busy❣️
That grandpa joke just about killed me. Lol!! I don’t know how I found your channel, but I’m hooked.
Always a pleasure watching you. 😍
Oh my word...totally addicted to your work Dan, you do what my Gran would call 'a proper job!!'
Such a lot of hard, hand knackering work involved!!♡
I know nothing about repairing shoes but I do know that putting average threaded screws in a shoe is a no no, lol. Nice repair job Dan. Those blue massive platform knee high boots behind you caught my eye, love them👌
Love your Channel. The only thing better than your handicraft are the 2 rubber ducks playing a game of Tic-Tac-Toe at 10:40
I mean, you might not be a superhero, but you do save a lot of unfortunate souls.
Fantastic video, cobblers like you are artists and I am amazed... thank you!
Watching you do work/art is really fun. Excited for another video man! Always enjoy the atmosphere you have on here.
Yeah he really is quality with his craft , hard work and knowing your trade equals success
Nice repair job. I think you should do a video on the crazy boots you showed in this video. I can wait to see how they look when you’re done with them.
The sowing machine is a marvel itself.
Funny jokes. I've always remembered the last words of my Grandfather which were "A bus!!" LOL. Hello from Texas!
You did an absolutely beautiful job on these!
Love your videos and your personality and work are top notch.
Wow that's a bargain really, 7 pounds for the shoes plus a repair for 200 to make them even better than new. Definitely worth while checking out second hand shops, charity shops and carboot sales, never know what you'll find. Great video again Dan!
200quid sounds quite reasonable really when one considers the material costs and work involved.
And as you say, they are better than new
11:35 maybe not that pair, but I for one would love to see a longer video on some absolutely destroyed shoes being brought back from the brink, a sort of "Old Shoe Rescue"?
I can't believe you sewed it by hand! that's rock and roll!!!
What a great job. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome Mr. Rogers neighborhood style music after you said lets get sticky.
My nearly two year old toddler got to play out in the rain today for the first time and his reaction was one of amazement and wonder. It was glorious. He was in genuine awe before laughing and clapping his hands. Not so much a crazy or funny story but more-so just a happy one.
Very cool repair!
Don’t think I’ve seen any of that Vibram California sole material before. Very interesting pattern for a sole there.
Loving the suitcase wallpaper!
Did this myself, found a pair of Loakes, Clint, in a charity shop for £4.Had them cleaned. a leather half sole and steel tips on the heels for £40. Voila, like a pair of brand new shoes..
The result is impressive. I like it!
Good vid, nice job, look great.. would like to see what you do to the blue high heels in the background......
Nicely done! I really need to take a pair of my Chelsea boots to my local cobbler, I was sat by an open with my family a little while ago. I was a bit too close to the fire and it heated the glue on my boots which now are not properly sealed to the uppers 🙈 doh!
Great job! They sure don't look like Charity shop shoes anymore!!
Such a cool trade! And I can tell you take Pride in every job you do,God Bless you and yours sir…
Your channel is really good. I had no interest in watching someone repair shoes but now here i am. Its always exciting to see how well they turn out.
I went to Disney today funnily enough! Then I saw your video and figured it was an absolutely perfect way to end the night.
Thanks from Brazil! I love your Channel, my dear!
very cool, i enjoyed the explanation of the tacks into the shoe and the press on only the toe portion of the shoe, very informative
I watched this video, so now I'm a master shoe repairer.
Hey Dan I'm a apprentice cobbler and I love your videos cant wait to keep learning this trade
15:50 the sound of that sawing machine is so relaxing 😌
Hello Dan. Keep up the fantastic work you inspire me to do more!!! Beautiful single cab in the background on the wall!
In response to 11:00, I had a girl over last night and when i took her into my bedroom , as we were taking our clothes off I used your catch phrase "let's get sticky" . Needless to say it worked just as well on her as it does to your subscribers, and by the end of the night we were covered in- actually i'll stop there and leave it to your imagination. I'll never forget last night! Thanks for the catchphrase Dan!!!
your mum doesn’t count
Brilliant 😂
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤣🤣🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks again Dan for another great video.
Very best wishes from Scotland
Funny for me today was asking brownie our dog to lay down but seeing her wait for table scrap even now...shea a good old dog
Just woke up. Tbis video is the most interesting thing to happen in my day so far.
Beautiful job my man!! Rock On!
