Lyrics:
So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night
We don't let her touch the ground
And we fold her up right
On second thought
I do like to brag
Because I'm mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag

"The Native American Indians, the blacks, yellow, the white, all shed red blood for the stars and stripes." well said. America is the land of natives and immigrants alike. It is a united nation of and for all walks of this God given Earth.
The poem The New Colossus on the Statue of Liberty by Emma Lazarus puts it perfectly at the end
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
What makes this poem so moving is Johnny wasn't "performing " here. He deeply meant every single word!
I'm from Sweden and this still moves me. Be proud of your country
If this doesn't put a lump in your throat, I don't know what will.
I'm Australian & it got to me!
@@saltydog4787 same, we love our flag here too!
100/100!!!
I’m Irish & it got to me
God bless all the men and women who have payed the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we hold so dear.
AMEN 🙏🏻🤘🏻‼
The man in black is the greatest story teller of all time. Sure wish he was still around.
He always had a way to tell a story in song.
God rest Johnny
Me too...
I'm not even American but damn this song is so great
WHEN AMERICA WAS AMERICA ............This always brings a tear to this old man's eye........just look at what our America has become.

@@allenwilson9656 love it or leave it. Don’t run your country down.
@@Verycreativeusername_ admit theres a a problem, then fix it. Blind love is the downfall of many idiots in history.
This is just the beginning i'm afraid...
This always gives me the chills. A lot of people nowadays could do to listen to this. Amazing song; so true.
Ditto!
Goosebumps for me as well. Came here tonight to watch it again. Pro Patria.
God bless the great country of The United States of America!
Now thats a national anthem
I don't even live on the same continent and this still gave me goosebumps. God bless the USA.
I'm English and play this often. Once, I played it to my foreign students so they could know what true emotion sounded like and the correct way stress and emphasis is used.
God bless America and the Stars and Stripes, from Ireland 🇮🇪🇺🇸🇮🇪🇺🇸🇮🇪🇺🇸
This was my wife's Mom's favorite song.
Seems someone likes there inlaws
To all my Vet brothers, thanks for serving to keep that ol ragged lady flying high 👍❤🇺🇸
So badly needed for this period in time . . .
This song is awesome and I'm not even American.
The whole song is beautiful and is truly sure to bring s tear to a patriotic American’s eye. But when the banjo starts playing Yankee Doodle as he says “she’s been burned, dishonored, denied, she’s been refused”… man, it really tugs on the heart strings.
God Bless America, from your neighbors way south, Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I'm glad they use this in super bowls
Goosebumps. Simply marvellous, simply powerful, simply free. The best singer of all time. Ragged old flag is in my heart although i'm not american.
Love from Thailand 🇹🇭
I'm not even American but this song makes me want to stand with a hand on my heart like at a baseball game. Lots of love to the USA from the United Kingdom ❤❤🤍🤍💙💙
GOD BLESS YOU AMERICA AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON SERVING YOUR COUNTRY .you have never fallen stumbled some times yes but never fallen ,you are the Free world Uncle Sam Keep us free....Amen.
If only the people of this day knew half of what this song is all about I believe that many people would have a different opinion of this country. I’m sure if John knew how bad this country has become he would turn over in his grave. I seen them perform this song in person. John truly loved this country. 4 great legends on stage in harmony and having fun.
Miss you Johnny Cash! You should see this world now. You wouldn't like it
I'm down South, in South Africa. But God Damn, I'm proud! The Boer, and the Cowboy, there ain't nothin' like them! Right on son!
the voice of a prophet . . .
I miss Johnny. A true American.
Бог Благослови Америку!!! Hello, I am from Russia!!!
Proud of you Highwayman. Thank you and God blessed
It’s the fact he sings it almost that it’s not solely about the flag, but American and it’s GOOD people as a whole.
What is so amazing about this piece is that it is JOHNNY CASH, ... do you understand!? JOHNNY CASH who is sing/reciting this piece! Johnny Cash the quintessential rebel, Outlaw Cowboy! A Highwayman for the American culture! He could be a great witness for the time we’re living!
Johnny... Thank you!
German Flag ?
@@elscampo2524 perhaps he’s of German descent or is German
Johnny Cash could read the phone book and I would listen with a smile :-)
Lets honor those who have fallen, those who have sacrificed their life for our freedom this memorial day.
Good lord. How times have changed. Flag is burned by our youth.
I may not be American but I love this song and my country 🇿🇦
GOD BLESS ALL MILITARY MEN --GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I’m not American but this gave me chills
We'll make it through. We always do. But they sure as hell dont make em like they used to.
Johnny Cash Sir, I am so sorry lived on Long Island at that time and did not attend the concert.....
Letra de Ragged Old Flag
I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin' there.
I said, "Your old court house is kinda run down,
He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town".
I said, "Your old flag pole is leaned a little bit,
And that's a ragged old flag you got hangin' on it".
He said, "Have a seat", and I sat down,
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town"
I said, "I think it is"
He said "I don't like to brag, but we're kinda proud of
That Ragged Old Flag
"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there,
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
and It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it,
writing "Say Can You See"
It got a rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson
tugging at its seams.
and It almost fell at the Alamo
beside the Texas flag,
But she waved on though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville,
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on
That Ragged Old Flag
"On Flanders Field in World War I,
She got a big hole from a Bertha Gun,
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp, and low, a time or two,
She was in Korea, Vietnam, She went where she was sent
by her Uncle Sam.
She waved from our ships upon the briny foam
and now they've about quit wavin' back here at home
in her own good land here She's been abused,
She's been burned, dishonored, denied an' refused,
And the government for which she stands
Has been scandalized throughout out the land.
And she's getting thread bare, and she's wearin' thin,
But she's in good shape, for the shape she's in.
Cause she's been through the fire before
and i believe she can take a whole lot more.
"So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night,
We don't let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.
On second thought
I *do* like to brag
Cause I'm mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag"
This song is great especially in today's world

I am WOKE and this is My Flag and all who love freedom...ie not banning books...banning speech....woke folks stand for freedom...
Does anyone know the name of the banjo that plays near the end
👍🇺🇸
If only everyone in America now would understand…
What’s the name of the music during Jonny cash speaking ? Sorry for my english....thank you.
It is a compilation of American folk music. The two I can hear are Yankee Doodle and Dixie. However, Dixie is a song deeply tied to the Confederacy and racism (and the South too, in general). I do not recommend it. The Union parody of it is quite catchy and funny though.
David Zhi LuoZhang
Thank you for your answer and god bless America !
@@davidzhiluozhang6205 Cash was most likely aiming at the union version, given that he very much hated the confederacy
Who the hell could dislike this apart from the Japanese
Capital rioters have put their thirst for political power over love for their country. As an American, they showed their hate for the ragged old flag.
@@mg-ew2xf god bless 🇮🇪❤️🇺🇸
AMERICA
Yeah, God bless the flag and country that started or meddled in hundreds of bloody, ruthless, wild, debilitating, mindless, dulling wars (and many in completely other parts of the world where they could gain or steal something). And all of this in such a short time. It's good to listen to people like George Carlin sometimes.
JOHNNY CASH RAGGED OLD FLAG
Lyrics:
So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night
We don't let her touch the ground
And we fold her upright
On second thought
I do like to brag
Because I'm mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag
This would offend a snowflake
There’s nothing offensive about it
1010sams the point exactly
But surely you wouldn’t say that it would offend someone unless you thought there was something that could offend someone.
1010sams once again, the exact point. Some people find offense in our pride of our nation, but there’s nothing wrong with loving your country
Dutch Van Der Linde is a textbook definition snowflake
Amazing that it never shows what flag he is talking about? by design.? Dixie music in the backround, but then mentions other ethenicitities?
He's singing about a winner so clearly not traitor stars and bars.
Imagine thinking Johnny cash would support biden lmfao he would hate the man
Hello I`m papa cash, half of them lies there are not true!!!!
