I wanted to pop back on here to thank you for the outstanding video! My maintenance turned out perfectly, exactly as illustrated and my bike is much quieter! So far I’ve only been able to squeeze 3400km out of one of these motors, I’m on my third in a year, fact, so keeping this one in good shape should help. Honestly I wasn’t touching them until the warranty expired, so now let’s hope this one lasts a little longer. Each one of these, M620’s have been quiet for the first 800kms, after that they’re beyond noisy, people actually turn around to see that the noise is as I approach. It’s quick and has tons of torque to pull my teardrop trailer on trips, so I’m not anti m620 or Bafang, but I honest wish it was a tad quieter. Thanks again!
When preparing for the separating of the two halves of the motor housing I find it helpful to use a wide wedge 'spudger' and run it around both opposing surfaces of the gasket before I pull the housing apart. Then the gasket does not tear due to sticking to one the sides of the housing. Spudgers seem to come in handy for a number of DIY chores, and are pretty inexpensive.
Does it require to be greased? I have Yamaha PW-X and it does not require any grease or maintenance for life according to the user manual. My Yamaha is 5 years old I has 20000 miles on the odometer and has zero issues with no maintenance.
My bafang ultra is 3 years old and 3400 miles not done anything with it either. Looking at forums it seems like there is significant risk of damage taking it apart so I'll run it till it gives mr reason to be concerned. It's as quiet as egen I first rode it.
@@FlyingFun. thats good to hear, I have M800 and just passed 1k miles. Appears to sound as it did the first day. I like to do preventative maintenance but thinking twice about taking it appart if its jot needed. I do normal bike maintenance including suspension lowers service gor my forks and can service for rear shocks once a year and full service about every 2 years.
I'd say listen to the motor. Mine started to make a deep humming like sound after 1 year (8000km). As long as your doesn't seem to have any issues you're fine.
Usually about every 1000km/620mi, or once a year if you do a lot of riding. It's good to get it checked at least once a year just incase. If the motor has not been greased in a while it will begin to get louder, and you may start to hear grinding noises coming from it if the grease is old and running low.
Does it say in the manual to replace the grease ? I dont recall seeing anything about it, mine has 3400 miles on it and nothing has happened ,no noisier than it was new and I've not done this.
@@steve_main just the design of it I guess, each motor is different. It's not hard to open up, most challenging part is dropping the motor and putting it back on but with the right tools it can be done.
That part about using a tire lever to separate the controller cover from the main body is a total lie. There is absolutely no way that would work. Maybe once you got it open a little you could do that...
The amount of Grease he used is perfectly fine... If you don't use enough the rotating gears will fling the grease off and you'll have insufficient lubrication.
@@Mamawsw yes i assume thats what i was referring to. there are a few different names but all have the same effect of becoming less viscous when worked
@@bmxscape Hmm okay, I am looking to regrease my M620 and want to buy a good grease for it. Some people say corn head is good but you would more recommend the Mobil SHC 100?

Awesome! did that after the first year of 8000km on my motor with SHC100, as it was starting to make a deep humming sound. Quiet now as on day one.
Hey mate, how did it looks after 8000km without a regrease?
Any damage to the gears?

Thank god you didn't over torq your screws because it looks like your gasket was about to tear above some wires. That grease is awesome 😊
What are the torque settings on the screws holding the two halves together?

how often would this need to be done?

Does the motor need to be calibrated again after unplugging the controller? Just plug and play after greasing? THANKS!

hahaha OG
How many hours till the motor needs regreasing? Does it get noisy when needing regreasing?

I'm thinking the grease that's in there from factory isn't enough . Probley should be done when not long after you get it .

How much torque should be applied to the little bolts that hold the two halves of the motor case together?
We recommend blue loctite
@@Biktrix ok. Will the blue LocTite break apart enough enough the next time I need to regrease the motor?
@@lagrandeurp yes, just a drop. Doesn’t take much.
Is it possible to use a 14s58.8v battery?
Not without a aftermarket controller. The capacitors on the controller are only rated to 60v.
Thank you 🙏😊
My Eunorau Spectre came with an M620. died after 1 month. Retailer suppied new control in drive and it lasted 40 KM
Ouch. That’s rough.
What do you do if the M630 no longer turns on?
Mine had the same problem. It turns out the motor has no short circuit protection and had fried the controller.
Are we supposed to grease these motors???
Yes
Why is there not a grease nipple on it then? You have to do a full tear down.

@@shredd_cr7 Yeah I have now been watching a few videos and I plan on using John Deere Corn Head Grease!
@@steve_main great choice!
Looks like you tore the gasket dispite your advice to be careful with the gasket...
Exactly. This guy is a butcher. Ludmiły he will hot maintain my motor😂😂 Way too much trasę BTW...
Narration by Chills
Lightly grease, proceeds to smother 😂
Does this void the warranty?
Yes
Why John Deere CornHead grease🤔
Safety glasses recommended or mandatory ?
i think you should leave the motor alone until the warranty finish 1 or 2 years how ever long you get, before doin anything to it
that looks like a mess of grease that will melt and destroy the motor!

Too much grease lol…
Dude your voice is killing me........
Never use this much grease

this type of grease turns into gear oil while in operation. its not bearing grease
