    The maintenance on your 370z Nismo is 1/10 of the GT-R. Your brake job cost is $450 while the GT-R is $4,500. Gear oil in your rear diff and transmission is $250 while GT-R cost is $2,500. You can get away with a 2 tires at a time tire change while GT-R is all 4 at a time and GT-R tires last around 6,000 miles because the way they set them up. If you blow the GT-R transmission costs is around $22,000 while 370z is $1,600. My Nismo is cheap and fun to drive. I'm keeping mine. They only sell around 500 a year state side so it's pretty rare to see.

      Good call. I love my Z and would love a GTR but can't afford one right now. You can always twin turbo the set up if you want, but most people keep it naturally aspirated. It has enough power to be fun and keep up with some of the big boys but it's not in supercar territory unless you TT it. I'm not sure if I want to just keep mine and TT it or just trade it in on the next generation Z. We'll have to wait and see what it looks like.

      I'm looking at the supercharger kit for like $6k later at the end of my build. I believe installation is about $3k. I prob won't do it but we'll see after 2020 and how much disposable income I have then. I'll be done paying off my 2015 in 2018 and I won't finish my build until sometime 2019 so 2020-2021 we'll see.I was reading in the forums except to save about $20k for a TT system for upkeep and if anything goes wrong. I don't have that kind of $$$. :p

    • @VerisimilitudeDude
      @VerisimilitudeDude 7 років тому +1

      kafaya77 Installation shouldn't cost more than $1500. If it does, then they are robbing you. Titan motorsports in Orlando, FL can install a Stillen kit in about 8-10 hours. At $150/hour that's about $1200-1500.

    • @kafaya77
      @kafaya77 7 років тому

      thanks for the info. i didn't get a quote myself I saw someone else mention the 3k install. I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to get it done. $1200-1500 isn't bad at all.

      To be honest a person who bought a GTR is not worried about the maintenance, supposed to have the budget to solve it easy, if you ask for a loan to pay it in 1,0000 and you don't have money really it's a very stupid thing do it . Go back to your reality and buy a 1996 Kia gas saver

    I have an 09 Nismo 370 Z. Upgraded from a 350 Z and this is the best car that I ever had. Never had a problem with my seats for long trips or as my daily driver. I think the name Recaro sways peoples opinion just because of the name and what its replacing. Alcantara is used from Nissan to Lamborghini, it's for sports cars to promote more grip. I never heard of it being easy to get dirty or making you sweaty, leather does that. I've never had a car in which I get asked about and stared at like I do in my Z. Theres a group of kids where I live and when I drive down the street they chase my car and scream for me to rev her up. It's fast, nimble, good looking and does what I want it to when I drive hard. From listening to your review it seems to me that your not truly invested in the car. I mean 4 months in you thought of trading in the Z and you did in 6 months. Now after owning the Z for 6 months your set on trading this one in after a year to 2 yrs. That's not long term. It seems you want to use these cars to get the GTR, which is fine ive done that, but you should choose your words closely I'm a member of a Z club and its members cherish their cars. I'm not trying to diss you man I like your vids and its cool to see how others perceive their cars, so to give a thorough review you need more than 2500 miles in 6 months.

    Watch UA-cam videos on maintenance on GT-R. I almost bought a GT-R and my mechanic explained what it took to maintain one. I bought the 370z Nismo and I really love driving this car. Bros FOURR Speed posts really good videos on the Nismo.

  • @chodkowski01
    @chodkowski01 7 років тому +4

    Devin the transmission costs $22,000 and the transmission has lots of problems. Read the warranty on the car. Nissan has a reputation of not honoring the transmission warranty. It takes 10 quarts of fluid which cost $135 a quart. If you think a GT-R is cheap to operate you better look into GT-R maintenance costs. Any idea what it takes to build a car to go 194 mph. The balance of the car or the brakes to stop it from that speed. We're talking about the GT-R not the GT-K.

    Rich, the GT--R is a super car. You don't go to pep boys to buy brake pads and rotors. A car that is made to go over 200 mph needs to be serviced by specialist. Call Nissan for a quote if you think I'm making figures up. The pads for my 370z Nismo for the front costs $275 and then another $275 for the rear. Check with Nissan. And also check the price on transmission oil change on the GT-R. 10 quarts needed at $135 a quart.

    • @devintolliver92
      @devintolliver92 7 років тому +1

      Lmao if you can't change your oil and brake pads yourself you don't need a GT-R. You don't need a specialist for basic shit like that.

    I know this is long after you have already gotten the GT-R but I'd like to get it out htere about the maintenance costs of owning a GT-R. I only have a 370Z sport 6MT but when I was at the Nissan dealership the service manager, their senior tech and I were looking over the maintenance schedules for a customer who had his GT-R in for service and all I say is it blew our minds. Anybody contemplating getting this car needs to look over the realistic cost of maintenance before making a buying decision. I used to own a Porsche that was not cheap to maintain but it didn't compare to the GT-R.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  2 роки тому +1

      The Nissan dealer is a joke to be honest. They pretty much charge 4X the cost on anything that says GTR. I have owned my GTR for 4 years. Every 35k miles, it needs the transmission and diffs flushed. That's $400 worth of oil. You can do it yourself or pay a shop. I had a performance shop do mine and it was like $100 labor. I did a power steering flush at 35k miles. Cost me less than $20. I do an annual oil change which costs $40. And I did new brake pads that cost $110 for all 4 wheels total. That's all I have spent and it has never given me trouble. Very reliable car and as long as you do the work yourself, its dirt cheap to maintain. Nissan dealer is the biggest rip off ever to maintain a GTR. Here's my 4 year update vid : ua-cam.com/video/BfM1T6Yj8EA/v-deo.html

    Keep the Z ! The Nismo will be a sought out model in a few years...especially when Nissan messes up the next generation ...I think it's going to look like a 2 dr Maxima...with some wide fender flares to make it look like a sports car. I'd wait a few yrs and buy a newer version of the GT-R , low milage , garage kept...and not beat to hell.

    I owned a 350Z back in the day (now I own a 2018 Mustang GT after owning a Challenger Shaker) and I loved the car, but that car along with the 370Z needs more factory power. You do not need 600H.P. in it, but if Nissan could put a de-tuned version of GTR motor and at least get it to 450h.p to make it competitive to base Corvette, that would be a good move.

    The Z34 will def hold its value being the Nismo version
    the new upcoming Z35 will be a 3L V6 Twin turbocharged car with 400BHP from the crank. And it will be paired with the Dual Clutch gearbox. So it will lose the charm of a NA full manual car. Also the next gen of car are now pairing with the hybrid dirve system. Weather it will be a good thing or be like the NSX NC1 which is crap is still up in the air. Also used 350Zs are getting cheaper and may replace the 240SX as the cheap drift platform. The other UN-molested RWD sport car which is still NA and has a manual gearbox will still be the BRZ/GT86

    • @skywalk3x

      still not 100% sure. we just have to see. look at the NSX and the upcoming Supra. Both no longer have a manual and they give you a 9 speed auto for the NSX and a 6/7 speed DCT since the engine and gearbox is shared with the new BMW Z4

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed That is two times you've mentioned the 2015 and later NISMO's. Well, I'm flying to Florida to buy a black 2014 370Z NISMO because it has super low miles and I really like the whole exterior (with the bigger wing and all). Why do you think the NISMO package on a 2014 is not as good as the 2015? Thanks in advance for a reply.

      I paid every 6 months, but per month it came around $95. Nothing crazy with a perfect driving record and having the highest deductible.

    Is a style life to change your car every 4 years for many people middle class, and most of the cases are cars under 28k usd, but a 40k car isn't easy to replace it , then keep them for 7 years or more is good. But if you have a bunch of money , change it every 6 months hjajajahajaj

    Every time you trade in you have to pay sales tax. Like $1500 every time. Which is criminal. The Gov should not endlessly be able to collect sales tax on the same car if it is bought and sold multiple times throughout its life.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 років тому

      Good point. But when you trade in a car you actually save money on taxes. I paid $400 worth of taxes trading the red Z for this one. When I bought my Genesis Coupe, I didn't trade anything in, that was $1k worth of taxes on a much cheaper car.

    • @devintolliver92
      @devintolliver92 7 років тому

      TopLift what the hell are you talking about. You can either pay a portion or all the taxes included with your trade if it's worth enough. Or you can have them roll the taxes into the length of your term, which will make your payments go up. You pay sales tax on everything, if you can't afford it to bad.

    • @DrTopLiftDPT
      @DrTopLiftDPT 7 років тому

      Devin Tolliver - its not about affording it. Sometimes adults like to discuss general ideas, make observations. Not just talk about specific examples that only apply to yourself personally . We left Britain because of a tax on tea, and many other things. Now the US gov taxes everything. My point is if a used car is bought and sold 30 times in america the government collects a sales tax 30 times on that used item. If i sold u something like a used golf clubs for example on craigslist you are technically suppose to report it and pay taxes on it

    • @DrTopLiftDPT
      @DrTopLiftDPT 7 років тому

      Bros FOURR Speed - ok I didn't know that. I have always sold my cars myself never traded. So I was coming from that perspective. Mostly talking about different people repeatedly paying taxes on the same used item

    • @devintolliver92
      @devintolliver92 7 років тому

      TopLift 1) buying from a private seller does not require you to report to the IRS. That was a dumb statement.
      2)"every time you trade in a car you pay sales tax" you don't pay taxes on the car you TRADE IN. Another dumb comment.
      3) People who can afford it don't complain about sales tax. So I would say it has a lot to do with what's affordable.

    so if you're trully into performance, in 2017, why get a manual trans? Sure, back in the 80s, only a fool opted for an auto over a manual, but the converse is true today (as much as it shocks me to say this). Get the auto and WIN races.

      I've never lost on a racetrack to my automatic counterparts. It's the driver and always will be. If you wanna live in magazines and look at 2 second improved lap times then go ahead. But I'm out here buying a street car and taking it to the track from time to time. We all aren't in sponsored race teams lol. An the end of the day I drive to enjoy myself and the car. I'll never get that out of an automatic. Believe me I've tried

      The mustang cost less because the interior doesn't touch the m2. The mustang just has way to much open plastic. Does it justify the cost? nah but it doesn't hurt lol I personally love mustangs but it takes a lot for me to hate on a car.
