I have a similar coop that I've had for 4 years. I put mine up on 4x4 lumber to raise it off the ground and bolted the frame to them. This helps to keep bedding in the coop, I also used hardware cloth instead of the chicken wire. Chicken wire will not stop predators from getting in the coop, it's designed to keep poultry in an area. I used self tapping screws with washers to attach the hardware cloth to the frame. Zip ties can break and animals can chew through them. So far my coop has held up and it has kept my ducks safe from predators.

@@MaryMaguire01 hi Mary! Thank you for commenting- I really appreciate you sharing how you fortified your coop. I certainly like the frame, but I’ll definitely have to improve it like you have for it to last very long!

I would put a cover over the whole top

@@the60s87 I think some more shade areas within the pen would be great! Maybe something they can climb on that adds some shade underneath? Having some areas the sun hits is nice- they love sun bathing and it helps keep it cleaner/more aerated. Most of the time the coop is open and they are able to roam and forage too!

I bought one off Amazon called "Betterhood" and the instructions are basically non-existent. Pictures only, and very poor ones. There is nothing in the instruction about how to attach the end verticle pole to the top/end hoop. 🙄
One thing I'm planning to do after we rig this thing together as best we can, is to go to Lowe's and get some polycarbonate roofing and make solid side walls on one end ...and possibly go up over the whole thing on that one end. That way, they'll have a better shelter from winds and rain while roosting at night. I'll probably use the tarp on the other end for shade during the day and some extra shelter from rain.

@@kitdriscoll1288 that’s a good idea! Our netting on this got DESTROYED by the goats rubbing on it- we’re going to have to put cattle panels or goat fence around it if we try to use it as a pen again. We might just put some huge tarps on the top and have it as a rain cover for them. 🤷‍♀️
