I like the fact that you didn't "over think it". Chickens really only need shelter and a place to nest. Make adjustments as needed, fresh eggs are the best 😊 Goodluck
Great job I’ve got one of them sheds I don’t use never one time did I think of doing what you did there will be chickens in my yard within the next two weeks great video brother
@@mevsm1 the box themselves have held up great, only thing thats happened to them is the chickens broke the little black plastic piece on the outside of them but they still use them, i did an update video on the coop not along ago if you want to check it out
Great video my hen just hatched 21 chicks and i needed a quick and resonable chicken coop and this look like a great option and going to start wrk once the shed gets delivered. I just have a few questions. What kind of roof vents you have and wats the dimentions of the chicken door. Would love an update vid to see how its holding up
Its holding up great, id recommend it to anyone its just like the day i put it, ill measure the door and get back to you on that, i just made the hole then made the door mechanism to fit
Dont forget concrete sweats causing alot of humidity in the summer when its hot, and its also super cold in the winter, wood is a better insulator than concrete, not sure what the conditions are where you live though

They did fine in the winter i plugged most of the holes and we had a cold winter, was in the negatives for a while, summers get around 100 degrees as well
@@MidwesternTrapper Thanks for replying. We are trying to figure out an affordable coop option. We bought one at tractor supply that said it could house 6 only to find out that’s not accurate. So frustrating. It gets really cold where we are and we have long winters.
Weve got 20 girls in this coop if that helps you and they have plenty of room, we let them out for a bit throughout the days were home so they can free range in the yard, no problems so far
I have been thinking of doing the same, but I’ve been worried about buying a shed off Amazon and not having it meet expectations. Particularly, I don’t want a leaky shed. Can you post links to the shed and roof vents you used if you haven’t had problems with leaking? Also, have you had any problems with the floor rusting? That is another concern I have. I would like to do deep litter, which I don’t think would cause any more risk of rusting than if I had a shallow litter, but it would make it harder to notice any compromised security for the chickens. Oh and that double door would be great for moving compost in and out with a wheelbarrow.
I will be doing an update video soon, the shed doesnt come with a floor, i chose to build a wooden floor for a few reasons that ill explain in the next video, i also do deep liter and havent had and problems with leaks
It has two roof vents, the gable ends are vented, a chicken door thats always open, and spaces in the ceiling where the tin for the roof lays in the frame…more than enough ventilation..

Thank you, yes fresh eggs are amazing!
I saw in another vid the guy used Styrofoam panels as an insulator inside the roof. He said it made it much cooler inside. Awesome set up !!!
Thank you, I plan on insulating it before winter..it’s been fine so far in this hot summer
Great job I’ve got one of them sheds I don’t use never one time did I think of doing what you did there will be chickens in my yard within the next two weeks great video brother
It works great! Make sure you have enough birds to keep it warm if you have rough winters…ventilation is key…can’t wait to see what you come up with!
That looks awesome brother! Great job!
Thanks brother
Nice set up
Thank you!
Looks perfect for chickens.
? How have the nesting boxes held up? I really like the looks of them, plus the price.

When it’s hot outside does the metal absorb the heat and get hot in there?
Does the shed come with the plywood floor? If not, how did you install the plywood?
No the shed does not come with a floor, i built the floor then put then built the shed and secured it to the floor
That's a really cool set up!
This is my plan it would only be very slightly with wood but metal is just less work and concrete floor for easy cleanup

What are the chain link panel heighth measurements?
Btw nice build

What did you use for flooring outside? I had grass but they tore it up. Now it’s just dirt. Not sure if to use mulch. Great setup! 👍🏼
The run is dirt, ive added wood chips here and there but they prefer the dry dirt to bust bathe
This is great! Can you tell me what tool you used to cut the door (into the metal)? Awesome build!!!
I believe i used a pair of tin snips, a grinder with a cut off wheel would work great too
would you mind sharing the amazon link to the shed you bought please?

Can you go in detail on the roof?? Looking to do this roof on ours but unsure where to start.
On the coop itself or on the run?
@@MidwesternTrapperi would like to know more aboit the run
What tool did you use to drill the hole for the chickens?
I used tin snips to cut the hole for the door
Is the chicken run a premade kit or is it custom?
Its premade dog kennel panels then i made a roof over it
Is it warm enough for them in the winter? How cold do your winters get?
They did fine in the winter i plugged most of the holes and we had a cold winter, was in the negatives for a while, summers get around 100 degrees as well
The trick is having plenty of birds in there to keep each other warm

It looks great and affordable; however, I would be worried about the lack of ventilation. Ammonia builds up would make chicken sick.

Any predators so far?
Nope
