One of the great thrillers ever penned by Jack London. Quite unusual. "The Red One" by Jack London is a story about Bassett, a scientist and explorer in the Solomon Islands, who hears a mysterious, powerful sound known as "The Red One." This sound, emanating from an enormous red sphere worshipped by the local tribe, is of alien origin and has an overwhelming impact on anyone who hears it. Bassett becomes obsessed with discovering the source of the sound, leading him deep into the jungle and into the heart of the tribal lands. His obsession with the sound .... leads to a very unusual ending.
