Why can't we go back to simpler times with ordering pizzas on people? Making cops go after people for no reason is ridiculous.

+Sky Carter Actually this is probably one of the reasons twitch requires you to add your facebook to log in now. Facebook has access to a lot of personal information including general location. And you actually can find a persons location through their skype. This may be also why cyber defenders are becoming more and more of a thing. It's becoming one of the most needed jobs as media grows, so yeah they need someone who knows how to search for I.P. Addresses. Even viewing the live stream itself would help. Example person calls in about whatever, police view live stream while listening to call, while doing so searching their ip info. Makes it easier to find who's lieing.

I remember the Kootra one, the officers turned off his webcam (which they are not allowed to do) and were trying to grill him on how he knew what was happening, apparently SWAT officers were unaware of what swatting someone is. They didn't disable the microphone, however, and audio continued for several minutes before Kootra told the officers that the webcam wasn't responsible for audio and they were still technically on stream, after which the officers disabled the microphone as well.
Very aggressive behavior from the officers which is partially understandable given the information given prior. However also unnecessarily dangerous since they were required to travel through a 100% peaceful office to reach the given room, and shouting at/shoving someone who had surrendered before the officers even entered the room seems slightly out of protocol. There was also a lack of organization from the unit, with one officer yelling at Kootra to lie on the ground while another yelled for him to stand in the center of the room, which prompted Kootra to ask them to clarify what they exactly wanted him to do (before getting forced to the floor and a boot on his back).

in America they are trained to be threatening and the swat teams in America are actually MEANT to be lethal and to deal with highly lethal suspects. I can forgive you for not knowing that if you live in the UK but not if you live in the us,as that would be plain ignorance.

Spin it anyway you like, but all that unnecessary disorganization, volume, invasion of personal space, and aggression was unfounded given the circumstances. Not to mention the incoherence of the group's orders DOES show a lack of general competence, levelheadedness, and training, all of which these "lethal" SWAT teams are supposed to have under their belt long before they are let out into the field(though these circumstances cannot begin to compare to the field, considering the truth and conditions of the matter, so that's an even more unjustifiable and incompetent representation on their part). It's not right nor cool nor smart to label rightful critique as "plain ignorance" or foreign lack of understanding- that's called downplaying with excuses, son.

The SWAT people were very aggressive towards Matthewson. I understand that they are trained to treat every suspect as a threat and have to take extreme caution, but he was obviously co-operating and the SWAT officers had to know something was up when they walked in considering that the scene was nothing like it was described by the caller. They didn't need to be THAT rough.

+Gh0s Even your phone company can't do this, no way the cops can. I went through this with the FCC trying to stop a harasser once. Turns out it is really simple to spoof phone numbers, and very hard to get past the spoof.
+Gh0s What it should be is once the call has been made two squads will be dispatched simultaneously one to the "offender" and the other to the caller so we can have both in case the call was false.
You guys really need to look into phone apps on computers, a bunch of these swat calls are coming from these, and a good bit are outside of the US.

It's pretty rare for people to get caught for Swatting.
It's actually pretty weird that FBI can track down underground movements but can't track down swatting call.
Btw Swatting someone is considered a crime, punishable by a $10,000 fine & up to 25 years in jail. This does not include any other charges that can be incurred by being sued by the victim of the swatting.
This is just the current laws on it, law makers are attempting to make the punishments even more severe.

Lmao the funniest shit ever when I overheard a cop questioning him on my headset! xD

I saw Jordan's stream and he actually handled it really well. The second he heard people shouting he said under his breath to his streamers "We're getting swatted." and quickly told the officers he had a prop gun in a nearby chest but no real weapons. He then told the swatters there was a livestream going on and they attempted to cover the camera (didn't really work though lol) but I believe he told them how to turn it off.

Better make an "update". I live in Wichita. Yesterday, the cops killed a 27 year old man. Police shot him when he answered the door. A fellow gamer in LA made the "swatting" call. One man dead, the other probably going to jail. I will say, it appears the cops did a horrible friggin' job. All the man did was answer his door. Hell, how did the cops even know they had the right house?

Hirotrum if authorities know who was the caller, the caller will get a arrested by cops and FBI agents, the caller also will face a jail sentence. So, yes, swatting gets jail time.

The police have the resources to verify a call such as this, but unfortunately the police PREFER to practice there SWAT tactics on the citizens that they are sworn to protect. Maybe a good lawyer is in order!

Getting swatted is the most terrifying thing in the history of our lives. It doesn't matter whether you've committed a crime or not, it puts your life on the edge of being punished to prison or getting shot at. The fact that people will literally call the police on you is bad and shameful for the caller. When I watch these videos, I get shooked and terrified as I hold onto my plush, thinking that the world is a very dangerous place once you're out there; one false move, and you are done for. I know I've said this before, but people calling the police on you for no reason... damn. Shame on people who are falsely accusing others for illegal actions. man... what has this world come to?
