Last year I started my seeds in seed trays inside and will do a lot of that this year! I didn’t have the best luck with my peppers. I started with getting the itch to get my hands in the garden this time of year. I live in zone 5a in Northwestern Illinois. Last August I planted my 1st fall garden which I covered my raised beds with old doors. Up to 2 weeks ago I still have greens gowing. I havn't checked on them while we are in the extreme cold weather. Last year was my 1st successful attempt of growing my own plants, I made purchases from bootstrap farmer and seeds fom MI Gardener and had so much success. I just received my stater trays fom Epic Gardener. I want to try the dirt blocks after seeing Justin Rhoads family using them but was very uncertain after having extreme arthitis in my hands. I saved some seeds from a store bought green pepper; added some dirt and covered to see how it goes because I just want things growing. Last year I called my sister every time something started to grow and said the babies are growing,

    Hello again glad to see another video. I have use the bag method for winter sowing, forgot about it ,may try it again . Placed some jugs out but do not have many because I do not but not buy water ( water filtration). Went to a Public Health Conference was told faucet water had more regulations than bottle from them own used my own filtration. So any way I used the plastic bag was much easier for me. The method I love is the paper towel ( wet towel in baggie on heat mat) because you see the seed germinate. Due to space for peppers and tomatoes makes better for me. Then I use plastic container like fruit comes it once they sprout I place in containers. Love that one works again due limited space. Last I am recycler think of all things I can use grow seeds besides buying pots ( which I do have but have use my funds because limited). I do have some nice ones like yours that I use . Also use plastic drink containers ( cups) with tops cover with plastic under lights ( worked wonders). I live zone 7b so real cold in winter so winter sow and growing indoors under lights work. Beside get me through the winter. Started with peppers and flowers. I have the poppy love love them they are some hardy plants here my area love cool weather came up in fall go thru winter and see them again come spring. Just have remember because I forget ( some are over 3-4 years old). Plan plant more in flower and veggie garden. Place perennial in pots so I locate them. Well enjoy seed sowing. Plan to have larger Green House soon ( using fence like structure and covering ) we see if God wills. Last found one doors (screen) like yours plan to used during summer. Take care sorry so long. Happy Seed Sowing !😄 PS enjoy your new pots and most of all the Green House.

    One tip please dont put your seeds into the freezer, the crisper is fine. I've done the damp paper towel in a ziplock bag mostly I just use little pots in trays. Some like peppers and tomatoes on heat mats the rest not but all under grow lights since its way too cold here until May to put most stuff outside. The only exception is the garlic I planted in my garden beds on the balcony in the fall. That's my experiment for this year, can I grow garlic? LOL *fingers crossed*

      I hope you CAN grow garlic! That would be incredible to see growing on your patio!
      I actually saw that blossom ranch put here in the freezer. She's a flower farmer so I wanted to try her method as well!
      I planted the snap dragons in every way. Moist stratification in the fridge, winter sowing as well as in the freezer. I love experimenting! And can't wait to see what works best!

    I’m in zone 7b. I’m new to gardening so I’m doing some from seeds but I’ll also buy some sprouts. I start seeding in 2 weeks, I could probably start some now🙂

    Hello. I’m growing in zone 7. I usually grow seedling in traditional trays, but did try winter sowing in milk and juice jugs last year with mixed results on the winter sowing method, but am planning to try again this year. I would love to know where you got your dinner from. I love it. Thanks for your video

    With the soil blocking, don’t the blocks still need to be on a tray that has drain holes? I have no idea how it works- just curious

    • @ourfreedomsong
      @ourfreedomsong  Рік тому +1

      Hey!!! That's a great question! No holes necessary, it's important to lightly water so that the blocks only absorb the water without much water left over. So far so good!

    Do you use heating pads with a thermostat? Also use a fan to toughen them up.🌱🪴🍅
