Liv talks about her love for vintage hot rods, muscle cars and Pontiacs, her plan to someday do a cross-country road trip in her Tempest, and her decision to finally learn fuel injection. Also, can a Burt Reynolds movie change the course of someone’s life? Yes. Yes it can.

Liv has a great channel, so glad to see her get interviewed.
I truly hope Ms. Scaffidi had a great time meeting an old timer guy. She seems a tad new to the scene, but has done the appropriate homework. She's certainly attuned to the car scene to the point she's "dangerous", but I'd bet she crumples the beer can bro races frequently. Dare I say, a Canadian I can respesct...without the syrup. She has that boomerish/old school mentality of "get er done before we run out of steam".
Thanks O'Reilly for having me be a part of this awesome series! This was such a fun interview.
2 of the best interwebs entertainers. Awesome to see you together! Thank you!
Easy "fix" for the 6 month Visa limitations..., marry an American..., or get adopted by an American! Just saying...
All the way in the east isn't Toronto! -Islander lol
@@walter2990 there's countries that don't require a Visa for the US. Canada is one of them
@dhag72 My passport expired 2 years ago, and it helps to know that I am able to get my arse to Canada without any Visa..., if I renew it.
Good job O,Reilly’s for bringing this forum to the UA-cam stage. Derek is the perfect host.
His demeanor and of course vocabulary is outstanding.
He showed he knows the word 'carburetor' after all!
@@professornuke7562 I'll be dipped? FuelmakeIthappener.

Liv is super awesome. Derek is a natural. Great interview!
Thanks Dale!
Derek is the absolute best, and it's cool seeing puddin's truck in the background
I thought I was crazy, but it is the Delivery King!
Keep doing these interviews with Derek and ??? ! These are great! Liv is an absolute sweetheart!
Hi Derek - IPA came about long ago because when ale was shipped from England to their colonies in India it would spoil. They had to add a lot more hops (Hops is both a flavoring agent and a preservative), to the ale so it would not spoil. This special ale for India became known as "India Pale Ale" - or IPA.
I am Totally loving this! Derek... You do great interviews. You are the next James Lipton!
Better than any talk show on tv. Great job!
This is such a great series Derek is a excellent host love it
I love derek, an amazing man and even though I only know him through his you tube he seems to be a fantastic father and someone with great goals
I had no idea this series existed until it popped up in my recommended. Kudos to YT for getting it right for a change!😂 That said, this was a fantastic interview, and Liv Scaffidi is very entertaining (and knowledgable). Of course we know Derek already is, as much as he tries to be a 'backyard meckanik'.😄 Looking forward to more of these interviews. Good job, O'Reillys!!😉👍
Who else is answering all the questions like they are being interviewed? Derek is just a gem
Great show! Thanks O'Reilly's, Derek and Liv!!
Thanks for watching!
Great interview,Liv is awesome and Her love for the US of A is refreshing to hear.
Derek, what a great interview! Liv is the bomb! Thanks!
I see that Dat-Sun King Delivery rig in the background down stairs 🤣🤣
Somehow I missed it. But this was funny enough to watch again!
Puddin and Derek together, that would be epic.
They actually did an interview during this same Oreillys event, been waiting on that sucker to drop for what seems like forever now.
Another awesome show. Good job all around.
Smokey and the Bandit is what did it for me, too! I saw it when it came out, though.....
I love it that you can see Puddin’s Datsun King Delivery Rig threw the window, down on the floor.
Derek you’re a natural. Keep it coming.
I see Puddin’s truck in the background downstairs.
WE WANT PUDDINS FAB SHOP VIDEO
His truck is in this video anyway.
That's not enough!
Shout out to the Datsun King. Just a swangin in the background. Ole puddin would be proud.
Your so down to earth Derek. If all people were like you so many problems would disappear. Keep up the good work and maybe world problems would go away.
Just judging by what I see in videos, I’ll go along with what you said and I’ll add that if parents raised their kids the way Derek and Jessica do, most problems would be gone.
@@bodarville2510 your exactly right. That's what I meant. Derek has values that some overlook today
@@randyscott954 👍
I couldn't help it, when you asked about the best memory of cars, I immediately went back to Texaco Sky Chief from the 60's. I would stick my face out of the window and enjoy the amazing smell of REAL gasoline, I still have wonderful memories of that, Not including the free drinking glasses you got with a fill up and enough green stamps! God I love the past.
This was great. I wouldn't have thought to look for this channel, but I really appreciate O'Reilly making content like this! 😎
Sweet the best 2 youtubers I watch together in one spot. Perfect
I have a 2002 transam ws6. Also a Canadian built muscle car. American company but built in Canada. Nice to see fellow Canadians doing so well.
When Liv mentioned her Tempest, it brought back many pleasant memories. My brother and I built several, a 66 and a 67. Later I had a 71 T-37. 71 was the only year they called ita T-37.
My first experience with Pontiac was my brothers 64 GTO. Just after he bought it he blew the 389 in it. A friend of his had an old Star Chief with a 421. They slipped the 421 into the GTO, put the tri power off the 389 on it. Ran fantastic. If you drove it easy it got 22 mpg on the highway. Never ran it down the strip so don't know how it would have done.
Around the town where I lived, there were only three cars that could outrun it. One was a 69 Judge with the 400 ram air. One was a 70 Chevelle the owner put over $5000 in early 70's dollars. The other was a 72 Dodge Challenger with the 440 with two four barrel carbs. No one else was even close.
A kick back car conversation...totally love it !
I love the fact that you can see Puddin's mini box truck in the background.
She’s so cool with an awesome personality. Really enjoyed this interview.
Man the holly 3 Barrel are expensive most of them I have found are over 500 bucks to 1,000 and more for junk ones
Holley three-barrel - bless your ever-lovin' heart, Liv!!! A friend of mine scored one that came off of a wrecked Baldwin-Motion Stage III Camaro last month, so they're still out there. Haven't checked the reproduction market yet, but I hear that NOS 3160's are fairly easy to come by - if you've got a spare $850 lying around........
I watch both of these UA-camrs and really enjoyed these two together doing this interview
Hey Liv, I’m originally from Napanee,Ontario. Have you been to my little city. Proud to call you a fellow Canadian, although I wish I could move to California like you did. Living in cold Saskatchewan,Canada. You and Derek are my two favourite channels on UA-cam.
In fairness to Edsel Ford, he was long dead by the time the marketing geniuses at FMC decided to name a new division after him and populate it with weird-looking, not-very-well-built cars. That happened on his son Henry II's watch. Edsel's second act after the Model A was Mercury, which lasted a bit longer than the Edsel brand.
Hank the Deuce was Edsel's son, not his nephew.
@@howardscott7521 You're right, I don't know why I typed that.
The Edsels were not bad builds with excellent motors...ugly and way ahead of the times, add to that expensive and failure is guaranteed.
Cold snacks with Derek would be a great time for sure.
I love this. Derek you always bring entertainment with a hanging out with the boys talking smack while drinking cold snacks in garage after wrenching all night on our hot rod fell. Amazing job. Congratulations on your continued success!!!!❤
HE B THE MAAN!?!.!?
I'm experiencing these interviews twice. Once on the apple Podcast App and then again on UA-cam. One begets another.
Had the unfortunate pleasure of being in the passenger seat of a '78 bird when we rolled it 4x going too fast around a curve.
And I've wanted one of my own ever since.
Would love to see Derek do an interview with Dan of DD Speed Shop!
Thanks OReilly for haveing and geting me parts for my 1984 Chevy Citation. Best car i ever have! My daily driver!
Broken Skull IPA I say hell yeah. WHAT? WHAT? I believe she's a Stone Cold Steve Austin fan lol. By the way I absolutely love this Between the aisles with The legendary Derek .. I hope there's more 🙏
Derek is so awesome in this interview
Awesome interview! Very entertaining
Really enjoyed this interview!
Watching Derek one of my top 3 vehicle youtube personalities with a vehicle from Puddins Fab Shop (another of my top 3) in the background
Great interview Derek, liv is one special young lady, you have to love her !!!!
She needs a 55-57 Pontiac Star Chief. It's like a lesser-known tri five and she's sort of Pontiac girl.
I know I'm not the only one that seen the Datsun King delivery truck in the back gotta love some puddin fab shop to Def would love to see Derek and puddin do something together
My Uncle (still alive) worked on most of the styling on the Pheonix-adorned Trans Ams. Lot's of intense arguments with Bill Mitchell, who hated that f$ing bird. One day, when the entire board of directors was at the styling division, my uncle and a few other artists pushed out the clay (but painted) prototypes out onto the grass. During a meeting break, the president of Gen eral Motors looked out the window, saw the Pheonix-adorned Trans-ams in the grass, stopped the board meeting to go down and look at them, everyone loved it.
There's your '56 210 post in the carb collection pic! Grab it. That's my jam.
If you’re collecting old Holley carbs, you’ve got to add a Bug-Spray to the collection!
This interview was awsome , good knowledge on both sides of the table and really good chemistry and totally interesting. 👍
Sublime is on my top three list of all-time artists.
IPA is a beer style (Lager, Ale, Brown Ale, Pale Ale, IPA) and a Micro Brew is any kind of beer made by a small brewery (not the big Coors, Miller, etc.).
Agreed on the Aztek, Bunkie was spinning in his grave!! That Trans Am coming out of that trailer one of the greatest movie moments of all time. Great interview great content as usual, gotta go order O'Reilly parts.
As*teks were just "Bugly.
LOL! Love the @PuddinsFabShop DAT-SUN King delivery rig in the background. 😀
I'm totally with her on the Speed handle!
Thanks Derek , thanks Liv, hey I've got one of those Pontiac straight six four barrel, split exhaust manifold stock. I think you need a 55 Pontiac star chief.
Central California watching.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to be a smart ass. I installed car audio since we tried to put 45 record players in armrests. You mentioned 8 tracks had different instruments on each track. While this is 100% true you were referring reel to reel 8 tracks used in the recording studios. Car 8 tracks were a continuous loop, 4 tracks of stereo. When the first stereo track was at the end, a foil splice that joined the beginning and end of the tape would run across a set of contacts that would switch it to the next set of stereo tracks. That was the kachunk noise 1/4 of the way through the tape. Over time the tape would stretch and they would sound weird. Hence why Cassette was born. If you know anyone that wants one, I found a new in the box Clarion under dash 8 track on the shelf of the garage.
Hey Derek, don’t feel so dated, some of us remember when the 62 Impala SS was rolling out on the show room floors.
The good old days.
Pfft, know your roots, many of the best "American" muscle cars were built up in Onterrible (not exclusively of course). Many still are today.... Ford Dodge 500hp+...nice to see some Canadian youtuber representation tho, especially from another woman. I just came here from the maritimes(the home of the Bricklin) because of VGG, but I'll be sure to check you out.
We need the Puddin Fab shop interview
Liv ... I learned so much about your car knowledge... wow... very good!
This is the first episode of this series that I have seen and I’m was very entertained.
Great job Derek!! #ViceGrioGarage
#PuddinsFabShop Delivery King in the background are great to see.
Outstanding! dark maple syrup and a carburetor gal Derek you have a winner!!!
I love Liz, she seems like such a sweetheart.
Anyone else notice Puddin’s Fab Shop truck in the lower left hand corner of the screen? 😂😂😂
Man, I thought for sure u we’re going to ask her about the Bakersfield Sound. Great Job
So great to hear she's Cananadian!
Love this series. so cool
I keep seeing these and it's not Puddin... Are you saving the best for last or what?
Did you see the Dat Sun King Delivery in the background
I just got on to comment and didn't pay attention, lol
Oil - for the conv. oil cars I use 4 qts. conv. then add 1 qt. syn. to it and change at 3000 mi.
Very classy interview, Derek. Good job.
For those interested, Edsel Ford had nothing to do with the design of the car named after him. He had been deceased 13 years before the brand came in to being. As a publicly traded company, the board went over the families wishes including Henry Ford II in naming the brand. In one way it was a win, at the time Lincoln was not considered a rival of Cadilac, but of Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Buick, Dodge and Desota. The Edsel was supose to take that slot and bump Lincoln up. Lincoln did move up and Ford moved other cars in to those slots after the demise of the Edsel name plate. It also might be a reason that Henry Ford II to such a hold on the head of the company.
@ 42:30 - An IPA (India Pale Ale) is (or was at one time anywho) supposed to follow some general guidelines as to ingredients and process. A Microbrew is typically anything brewed in small batches - at least as compared to Buttweiser etc. A feller comes to these things after drinking enough for a long enough time it seems....I think.....sure!
My first ever car was a '63 tempest. I loved that car. Makes me cry. 😢
There is a 56 chevy looks straight for sale in Waynesville Missouri right off I44
Great interview.
I like this talk show concept. Derek is a natural at this.
I’ve known ex employs of th GM plant Norwood Oh. that talked about specially built T/A’s built for Smokey and the bandit and you can kinda spot them in the movie . Very cool cars that rusted away !
The Edsel did not have a toilet seat front grill it was a oxen harness Grill😅
The 63 split window is also my dream car and a funny thing is I own an avalanche and I don't own a 77 Trans Am however I do own 2 77 Impalas lol
Well Done Derek and Oreilly's for a team that cannot be beat
71’ Bird was a floater .. when you hit 120-130 mph you start loosing steering control. To much air under the front. Still a great car ! Thanks Derek 💪👊
DEREK AS U DO BROTHER, KEEP ON TRUUUKNN CHEVY STYLE...EXCELLENT INTERVIEW SKILLS AND NOTHING BUT HUMOR...WE ALL WOOD NOT WANNA B ONE OF UR SONS BECUZ OF B 4 MENTIONED! !!! The Beaumont were made in Canada
Wrongo buddy boy!
The 8-Track Tape was based on the carts used in broadcast radio. The tape itself is a loop and at the end of the segment, requied no rewinding, ready to gp for the next play. The name comes from the tape having 4 stereo tracks across the width of the tape. At the start/finish point of the loop is a piece of metal tape which signals the player to shift the playback head to the next track. The shortcoming of this paradigm is the length of the tape. If the start/finish occurs in the middle of a song, it paused, went kachunk and resumed playing. The Casette Tape quickly pushed 8-Track into obsolescence as it was smaller, like less than 1/4 the size of a bulky 8-Track, longer duration up to 120 Minutes, less complex as it is a simple enclosed tiny reel to reel design, and most importantly, recordable. An 8-Track recording rig was a bit of a rarity. That said, the recording quality of 8-Track was superior as the playback speed of the tape was faster. The slower that magnetic tape passes the recording and playback heads, the sound has less physical space to occupy.
love both your channels .. absolutely no difference in a 77 and 78 TA. other than the front grill, diamond or hex and the back taillight bezel , one being trim black and the other painted the color of the car. 77 was the last year for the Hurst tops, before the Fisher tops in 78 with the start of the WS6 is 78 . early 77 shakers are lower profile Jan. to April ish.
I believe the 78 had a shorter shaker height, I say this cuz I had a 78 and after some research, that’s what I came up with.
@overdriveeagle no the lower shaker was early 77 for only 4 ish months
Come to the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado! We have tons of rust free old cars everywhere here.
Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway are bitchin road trips. I actually live a couple blocks off the Lincoln highway and will drive all the way to Times Square, using only vintage Conoco gas station maps in the near future.
I have been field project superintendent on 5 O'Reilly stores around the midwest and still haven't got a hat. I love their stores. Thank you for your time.
Wow liv ,, I bought a 63 split window in 1977 for $4500 without an engine , I found an old 327 double hump camel heads out of an old Impala . I restored it and later had to sell it to start a family . I hope you find one . They handle really Bad .
Love seeing Puddins Datsun King Delivery in the background!
Awesome interview. And I gotta agree. The 77 just looks better to me than the 78 T/A. I like the nose....two ligh cans instead of 4.
'76 was the last year for the 2 round headlights, '77-'78 were the 4 rectangular headlights like Smokey And The Bandit and '79-'81 had the final nose design of the 2nd gen.
‘75 TA was the ONLY year that had the park/signal lights in the grill, every other year before, and after 1975, the park lights were below the bumper
Great show 🎉
