Beautiful..I sometimes close my eyes and go back to 1979-85...Sadly the guys that walked those same streets are no longer with Us Due To AIDs...R.I.P..Does anyone no what year this video was made? Thank U..
Going to guess December 2019 - around 3 months before the pandemic lockdown because the Christmas tree is up around the 4:20 mark and they only have that up in December.
I was in San Francisco in December 2016 .. It is a lovely city. You made me missing this San Francisco. When Covid has gone, we all will cerebrate in SFO. Love you, miss you, and wait for me San Francisco.
my favorite city, in the States...the memories I have of this town, going as far back as '87, are both funny and sad. Im looking forward to visiting again.
Yeah that should be A landmark But I remember it being a cosmetic store where they sold all kinds of creams and Shampoo stuff, But I know they had a wall with a plaque Commemorating of how it used to be a camera shop, but apparently whoever was recording walked by one of the most important Castro antique shops of all. Still the castro district is not The Castro anymore. Strangely, when you walk the Castro late evening you can hear these very eerie sounds like far away voices_ It kind of sounds like when you are in a cathedral and you hear echoes high up Coming from the ceilings, Sometimes it sounds like crying, and it clearly comes from the air not from any of the buildings. 💔
I studied at SFSU in 1984 and I have to say I was so happy and e Rey single day I used to pass by Castro and of course sometimes I used to stop by in Castro at bookstore named Different Light then looking around ... I really miss Castro and everything
Thank-you, my adopted city that I had to leave, yes I left my heart there, so much has changed in just a couple of years many long time shops gone, but thankfully not everything, thank-you for sharing and bringing so many good memories, I fear what Covid has done, love you sf
Nice video. The weather looked freezing until the camera panned up, suddenly beautiful palm trees! The mild climate of course. Still a city I would love to visit, as opposed to LA or SD.
Yeah it's a nice day but the rule of thumb is always have a jacket or hoodie when in SF. You never know the fogs name is Karl, Karl's rolls up it's chilly even in Summer
You just walked by Harvey Milk's camera shop. If you looked on the second floor, you would have seen a photo of Harvey Milk looking out onto Castro Stret.
The whole city has changed and I put that right at the feet of the Silicon Valley. It's sad to grow up here. Progress I guess. My parents came in the 1940's it's always been a place culturally open and accepting with smart people.
I was born and raised in San Francisco; I spent most of the ‘80s in the Tenderloin because I couldn’t afford anything better. I didn’t go to the Castro because I’m straight but I enjoyed this video.
It remember going to a cafe called blu on the Castro 99/2000. Also has dinner at Tin Pan on Market St. How it has changed oh my! Definitely a very different vibe now.
keep in mind venice beach, los angeles and beverly hills are an 8 hour drive away from the castro district. but california has great places throughout!
You almost need to do two trips to California SoCal and NorCal we have beautiful beaches in the North but they are different then say Venice Beach up in north you can see the Redwood Forrest meets the ocean high over cliffs beauy
I was SO lucky to be there in -95. I came from Finland for 3 weeks. I trained at the LGBT Golds Gym and was so amazing the original culture was still alive. How is it today? Very touristy or still genuine?
A different cast of characters every few years. Overall the streets and buildings look the same but the faces on the street are always changing. People doing their gay lifestyle thing, each in his/her turn. My girlfriend and I lived a few blocks over near Dolores Park and we always shopped at Cliff's on weekends. My friend Barry (RIP) worked the cash register back then. // What month of the year was this video made? Must have been a month or two before Christmas?
Rule of thumb... When on the freeway and you need to walk because your car got stranded, walk in the way of traffic... NOT against traffic. Cars drive on the right in The U.S. The left in Europe, I think.... Sidewalks are for entertainers... but NEEDING to be shared with pedestrians. One Way, sir. OR... might it be that you should turn back and head going against traffic if stranded on the freeway? I forgot my driver's ed teachings.. 'I found love on a two way sidewalk'...
El verano pasado visité ests fantástica ciudad, isla y presidio de Alcatrz incluidos, El Castro es un estupendo barrio y siempre en el recuerdo Harvey Milk, abanderado de los derechos LGTBI. ♥️🌹
I'm amazed you were able to get this much footage of a relatively clean city when people know all to well how overrun SF is with crime like shoplifting, car break-ins, and homeless people littering the streets with feces and used hypodermic needles.
Im a strong supporter of egiqual gay rights theres Pepe looking for "nenas". Alex Jones, R. J., Minka, Hollywood, NFL players like the Las Vegas Raiders have some gay guy number #24 is over here hating.
Kind of an ugly street to be honest. All the power lines are an eyesore and everything looks crammed together. It wasn't even that busy yet not enough space on the sidewalks. Mostly gay techies and straight white girls these days.
What a horrible place to live no one is having kids wtf just men such a horrible place wtf fact most gay men will be wearing adult nappys in the old age and so lonely this is so bad asagfirullah asagfirullah asagfirullah 🤕🤕🤕
Best place ever with the most beautiful and friendliest ppl. Thanks for sharing. Much Love.
What a lovely video I’d love to visit San Fran one day ; I’m from uk 🇬🇧 so will be a while until I’m allowed I’ll have to start saving up .
Hello Sally, how are you doing?
Please do!
But also just know that nobody actually from SF calls it San Fran 😬
Beautiful peaceful place... Some haters hate democracy and freedom

Great video!!! San Fran is quite a city! Thank you for letting walk along with you and all the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
I really like the city cuz i 'm gay 😄
@@fhchbigdft1017 Same here ❤️

You walked right by the building in which Harvey Milk had his camera shop. Do you realize that? ❤️
I noticed that too! I wonder why San Francisco and the Castro District didn't make that building district a historical landmark?
@@dannyray9375 well I guess they have a terminal in the airport named after him

Very nostalgic. I used to do exactly that walk when I was in SF five years ago - down one side of Castro St and up the other.
Thank-you, my adopted city that I had to leave, yes I left my heart there, so much has changed in just a couple of years many long time shops gone, but thankfully not everything, thank-you for sharing and bringing so many good memories, I fear what Covid has done, love you sf
I lived in Sanfran in the late 80s and early 90's, and you really do leave your heart in San Francisco ! How I miss it! :))
I don't miss the parking situation, lol.
Forgot to say I’m Japanese and now living in Brazil, love all and everything
Nice video. The weather looked freezing until the camera panned up, suddenly beautiful palm trees! The mild climate of course. Still a city I would love to visit, as opposed to LA or SD.

i am queer seeker asylum in Turkey i hope to my resettlement to be in USA
There is actually more. Near Market I think. The Edge bar and a Ramen shop sushi and tacos across the street.
The ironic thing is the more "mainstream" Castro becomes the more it loses what made it special in the first place !
The whole city has changed and I put that right at the feet of the Silicon Valley. It's sad to grow up here. Progress I guess. My parents came in the 1940's it's always been a place culturally open and accepting with smart people.
I'm a Korean gay. I've never been to Castro, but I feel like I'm seeing my hometown.
I was born and raised in San Francisco; I spent most of the ‘80s in the Tenderloin because I couldn’t afford anything better. I didn’t go to the Castro because I’m straight but I enjoyed this video.
How expensive is this place to live?
Smooth video! What equipment did you use to shoot this?
It remember going to a cafe called blu on the Castro 99/2000. Also has dinner at Tin Pan on Market St. How it has changed oh my! Definitely a very different vibe now.
This is a great video! Thank you
nice video
my bucket list for this summer if I go to CA is to visit Venice beach, visit this district and go to Los Angeles or Beverly hills
keep in mind venice beach, los angeles and beverly hills are an 8 hour drive away from the castro district. but california has great places throughout!

The North Beach area is very touristy, but neighborhoods like Haight-Ashbury and Castro have stayed genuine
lmao LGHIV
What has California come to

As a us patriot it’s look Beautiful town really peaceful on Castro street having good time
Pretty area.
Awesome!! 👍
Should do more gay villages for it's own playlist
Hello Jeremy, how are you doing today?
Interesting !
Really good coffee and cheese by the theater!!!
The CASTRO has changed a lot since my days there 1978/87 but its heart and soul has remained..
Looks exactly like in GTA San Andreas...love it!
There used to be a bookstore near U.S Bank
It’s the green store around the 3:08 mark. It’s now called “Fabulosa Books.” It was formerly “Dog Eared Books” as pictured here.
hope someday i can visit there 😊🤞🏻🤩🤩🤩
Lugar muito lindo ideal para fazer compras passear conhecer a história é muito romantico
Muy parecido a Oxford street en Sydney 😍
That was NEATO!!! 👏✌️👍
Hot Cookies store has been around for a long time as well as that Historical theatrw
LOVE breakfast at Orphan Andys!!!!!
is was so nice in the 80s
The Castro is a huge SNORE now. Go if you’re looking for ice cream and cookies. So sad to see what it’s become.
Это город? Похоже на пригород
It’s the gay district in San Francisco. Other areas in San Francisco like the financial district have much taller buildings
No it doesn't. Not even a little bit.
Land❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Before San Francisco went into lockdown in 2020. The first city to do so by the way.
It’s changed since the 80’s and 90’s .
Yes was there in -95 ( from Finland ) and still was the original gay culture alive. now maybe touristy ?
8 months ago seems like 10 years back
ITS FULL OF WHAT?!-Castro
Any christian churches there?
No wonder why fidel castro was pissed
This where all the gays stay in SF?
Wires above your head is scary
Bro this is like if gay people had a hood 😭😭
Castro's street looks like a berlin 1936

I wonder what Fidel Castro thought when he found out about this place.
You should of gone down 18th st much better !
And you can live here for ONLY 5000 dollar a month XD what a rob
You walked by my old apartment, I do miss living and bartending in the Castro 😏
I'm amazed you were able to get this much footage of a relatively clean city when people know all to well how overrun SF is with crime like shoplifting, car break-ins, and homeless people littering the streets with feces and used hypodermic needles.
This obviously is not current. The CASTRO is not the same since COVID. Sooo sad😂! It’s trying to get back to normal. Miss the old Castro
People who watch Fox “News” “know all to well” residents of the city aren’t amazed…
Well, cities have good areas and bad areas. You're probably not old enough to understand that yet.
Hello, I'm John 34 single gay, are you?
Just because I lived in San Francisco doesn’t mean I’m gay, I’m NOT Lgbtqia
Sure
This area is pathetic😊
Grande robleis
The watchdogs2 too much real
So much nicer (heritage buildings galore, not a single tower) and lively than the lame West End (full of ugly towers) gay village in Vancouver.
Why are there rainbow flags everywhere?
I've been here before
its so sad that gay castro is gne
🏳️🌈❤️❤️🥰
this looks like watch dogs 2
bars are small
Honestly, the pulse of Castro has waned....thanks to gentrification and homelessness....
Im a strong supporter of egiqual gay rights theres Pepe looking for "nenas". Alex Jones, R. J., Minka, Hollywood, NFL players like the Las Vegas Raiders have some gay guy number #24 is over here hating.
Its full of what?!!!! 😮
its full of what!!
Gay.
Doesn’t look great
San Francisco needs to repent
The Castro is so boring, it only has a few historic places & instagrammable places, while the rest are just shops
No creo que sea un lugar para tener hijos,, pidiendo disculpas y sin ofender, pero para mí no lo es.
City for the 1%
paulhorn27 that’s unfortunately what SF has become. Basically unaffordable to most of us...
Yea since San Francisco is so expensive, it’s the only major city in America that is getting significantly whiter
gayest place on earth
Cafe Hairdo is closed temporarily!!!!
i walked right there and its just boring
no children's
I hate San Francisco
Why?
