Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy them! It's absolutely crazy to me that folks from all over the world are watching me goof around in the garage! I bet you have some GREAT mountain roads there.
You prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
Good to meet you and thank you for the kind words! Best of luck with your car and send me some pics of it to my Facebook page, I'd love to check it out.
Hi Rob! Thank you for the suggestions and those are all viable options. I drove the heck out of the car and luckily there was no rubbing to speak of. Coilovers would offer the most clearance along with the greatest level of adjustability. I guess it's another thing to add to the never ending to-do list!
Thank you for the heads up on this. As I said below, I saw some talk about this on various forums after I placed my order, of course. I'm not sure what I will do exactly, but I should've known that a budget wheel would have quality issues.
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoy the videos! Ugh, the last thing I need is a borked transmission, I already have one of Shep's magical gearboxes and would barf if I tore it up. As for the humor, I'm trying to strike a balance- but do have some fun stuff planned. :-) Thank you for the info about the wheels, I saw some talk about this on various forums after I placed my order, of course. I'm not sure what I will do about this, but I should've known that a budget wheel would have quality issues.
So great to hear from you Jafro, I freaking love you man! I tell ya, every spring I get the most intense urge to go racing- almost as if it's programmed into my brain. I have no control over it, and actually going racing doesn't necessarily satisfy it, just creates more to-dos. I'm due for a clutch also. I've been running my ACT 2600 for a long time and its slipping a bit. Also, I need something with a more progressive engagement. I am indeed spoiled, the lift makes wrenching much easier.
Could you switch the front struts to coil overs to reduce the risk of tyres fouling under heavy load? Also you could progressively adjust the height and spring rates to give the best holeshot possible from the line. A slightly heavier set spring rate at the back and stiffer shocks could help with the tramping issue from the shake down clip as the extra grip could exaggerate this. All the best Rob
Drag/rota wheels are notorious for stress fractures, I wouldn't really trust them for all out 140 mph trap speeds. With that much grip, you'll be soon doing an episode called "my new shep stage 4 tranny install", haha! Hope it all turns out though, LOVE your videos!!! Where is the classic fun factor that we are so used to in almost every episode? More humor!!! :D
Just started watching your videos and i have to say you do some amazing work and i love your cars. DSM FTW! on a side note Thunder Valley is my home track its about 30 min from me haha.
You lucky dog!! I am almost 3 hours away (one way) so getting to Bristol is difficult. Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
I have drag wheels DR-9 17"x7.0 color like yours, are very light and strong, but the chrome goes away after 2 or 3 years! However its good for track if you dont care about the appearance.
Hey Tom what size tires do you run on your street tire setup? I have the same wheels in chrome but with only 205 tires on mine and I spin all 4 wheels a lot on the street and I only run low 12s
They are very rough riding when cold but when warm, soften up and become more compliant. They don't corner well and highway speeds are fine as long as the road is straight and dry. I had no concerns hitting 130+mph for brief periods on the 1/4 mile with them. Of course your experience may vary based on suspension setup, etc. etc.
I'll be at Bristol dragway tomorrow for the track opener street fights with a blue 2011 mustang 5.0 car runs 10:88 in the 1/4 we have done something's to go faster you should come the car tag says kona jet if you come ask for me I know you go to that track hope your there to meet you
I'm afraid I know little to nothing about those cars. There are tons of great drag radials these days, I would think you could find something along those lines.
Haha! Glad you look forward to them and it's a blast sharing the hobby with folks like you!
Thanks for sharing the info, they will be mainly for track use, as I love the stability of radials.
Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Adam and I am going to try and make it up there. I look forward to meeting ya!
Glad to hear it my friend!

Thank you and it definitely gives the car a purposeful look. Heck, I even got a couple thumbs up on my last test drive.
Thanks! The DR18s look great.

There ya go man! Hard to beat those factory MR wheels though- I freaking love those.
Yahoo!!! so excited to see the drag videos. The suspense builds!!!
It is a heavy pig, but like yours, it has been great garage companion for a long time.
Yes, I sold it. It went to a great owner and I hope to own another Miata someday.
Thank you! I did sell it and thankfully it went to a great home.

Haha, thanks! All of those years studying kanji have finally paid off!
Nice setup. Good choice with the DOT slick. They will indeed grow a good bit, so make sure you check your clearance again..
Thanks man, will do!
Thank you and will do!
can't wait to see it run again
Good interpretation of the kanji. All those adjectives had me rolling.
Sounds GREAT!
Keep on keepin' on man. Can't wait to find out how the new tires and wheels help out
Thanks Nick! Indeed.
Thanks man! I bought it back in 2005. I forget exactly how much I paid for it, I believe it was around $1200.
Yes, I did. It went to a great home though.
Thank you!

I love the Talon videos!!
Love your videos, greetings from austria :-D
Thanks man!
That's true, I did that on my old drag Starion back in the day.
Informative and entertaining, as usual!
Ahhh I was waiting for some driving at the end!!!!!! Killin me tom ;-)
Thanks man, me too!
Thank you and I'm pretty darn curious too! I tell ya, there is zero spin on the street.
Yes, I've got a couple of short videos of it on my channel. I'll be talking about it in more detail in an upcoming video most likely.
No, they don't stick out at all, the offset is very similar to the stock wheels.
Awesome. Looks like a beast!

I didn't see your sunburst Miata in the garage, did you sell it?
Tom, you have one of the cleanest 1G I've ever seen if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it?

No, but it sounds like a fun time!
Yaaay! New video!!!
Yes we have some nice roads, in enjoy them nearly every day with my 2g dsm :-D
Yes but it is said that every time you do a 4 wheel drive burnout, an angel gets its wings, or something.
Aww yeah!!!
Those in 18" would look good on the evo!
Beast mode!
Hey Tom i have a 2006 chrysler 300, do you think these would be a good track tire for me?
Thanks
Nice garage
Soo nice!
Hey Tom what do u do for a living?
Hey Tom what size tires do you run on your street tire setup? I have the same wheels in chrome but with only 205 tires on mine and I spin all 4 wheels a lot on the street and I only run low 12s
Hi Kenny- I run 225s. They are good and wide and the tires are very soft.
track vids goooo!
You can always use a DIY Coilover kit to reduce cost and add that I made this instead of bought it feeling when you get on track.
Haha, yeah man!
Were you at london dragway this past week for KY horsepower?
I use the same pro-lift floor jack.. It's a pig but I have never used a better jack.
nice wheels i have a set of drag dr 18's
With that off set do the tires stick out at all? what is the stock offset?
Do you still have this car?
do u own the Lexus too?
Haha, no kidding!
Hey tom how are those tires at high speeds? People say bias ply arnt stable at high speeds are they?
They are very rough riding when cold but when warm, soften up and become more compliant. They don't corner well and highway speeds are fine as long as the road is straight and dry. I had no concerns hitting 130+mph for brief periods on the 1/4 mile with them. Of course your experience may vary based on suspension setup, etc. etc.
Hey Tom, where did you get the background music for your videos?
Hey man! I made it for many of my older videos (like this one) but now I use UA-cam's music to avoid copyright issues and such.

Tom's Turbo Garage what if sleeper turbo fox body mustang hmmmm
Dillon Haynes 87 Mustang SVO 2.3
This is a copy of “Gab wheels” a fairly rare light weight jdm wheel
Hahaha!
Those wheels are going to break on you I can't tell you how many times I've seen a set of those come apart.
I like when the mirage took down that mustang. lol
Ahh the good old days!
Idk I wouldn't wanna top out on a lift cause imagine if it shook itself off...that'd be a pretty hefty hole in the side of the house haha
Hmm i know the 4 wheel drive burn outs killed the tyres
Where is the Miata?
He sold it :(
It was in one of his past videos
Your name is Tom? Your shirt says "Matt"....

Haha, yes!
Thank you!
Thanks man!
