    Just set my schedule to acclimate to this setting for a 30 day period starting at 50%. I've had these AI Prime 16HD's for over a year and still trying to get the right look. Hopefully, this is the end of my lighting journey. :) Thanks Salty Pops for posting and providing the detail and growth\coloration examples that this setting has resulted in. I just wasn't getting the coloration\pop that I know these lights are capable of. Fingers crossed!

    Hey Salty, ive used this schedule for 6 months now when i started my cube 20 and its brilliant, great coral growth! I have one question, if I dim the CW down to like 15-20% at its max do i have to adjust the other colour parameters to compensate? Or do i just adjust the CW down and leave everything else as it is? Im looking for more coral colour than fish colour with the CW down, thanks again Salty!

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  Рік тому +2

      Hello. I would suggest upping the others if you dim the CW. If you don’t you will be removing PAR. If you drop CW to 15% mid-day I would up the others to:
      UV = 51
      V = 61
      RB = 97
      B = 92
      Note: you will essentially be starting a NEW program so you will need to acclimate your tank to it. I’d run acclimation mode for 30 days.

    Hey Salty, sorry to bother you again, i managed to get hold of a par meter for my tank to dail in my lights. my tank is 45cm (17inches) from top of water to sand and 26cm (10.2 inches) from ai prime mounted hight. however i am getting pretty low par readings of around 75par ish at the bottom of the tank i keep mostly sfties and LPS torches. should i increase your light settings to hit 100 par? or will that be too much strain on the lights? ive heard anywhere from 50-150 for softies and from what most people say 100 is ideal? if i was to increase would i increase across the board using your settings till? i think you mentioned there is an issues with burning out the lenses going higher?

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  Рік тому +1

      Hello. A couple things on your question. 75ish is about what I get in the ends at the bottom of my tank. In the center bottom I got higher as my 2 primes are only 14” away from each other, so I got cross over. With that said, on the 75 ends, I did have LPS placed there. Ultimately, if the corals that are there now are happy, no need to change anything. If you do decide to change things, below are some guidelines. However, if you are not happy with your par results, you could also consider adding another light.
      - Feel free to adjust Violet, Royal Blue, and Blue up.
      - Do not change UV. Above 70% lens burn rather quickly. Doesn’t mean you can’t run higher than 70%, just means you will be replacing lenses.
      - Do not increase white, green, or red. These are already on the max end and I would not go any higher.

    • @saltypops4276

      Hey. Glad you like the program. Your new tank is very similar to one of the tanks I am running the program on. My 45 gallon is 36” (91.44 cm) wide and the height is 24” (60.96 cm). On this tank I run 2 primes. They are spaced 11” (27.94 cm) in from each side which means they are 14” (35.56 cm) from each other and it does great in a mixed reef with lower light SPS. Monti, birdsnest, a couple no name acro. Also note my lights are 11” (27.94 cm) above the water.
      If you are staying LPS dominated with softies and some lower light SPS like Monti birdsnest pocillopora, stylophora, you should be good with 2 primes. I grow my Monti cap 18” (45.72 cm) below the water, so pretty deep down.
      If you want to go with more SPS dominated tank or higher light demanding SPS, a 3rd is recommended.
      Are far as settings. I would not change them. I would add more lights instead of changing settings. The concern around changing settings is burning out lenses which then you don’t have a working light until you get it fixed or replace it. Putting the values higher, specifically UV will burn out the lenses and increase overall heat to the unit. Both are bad.

      @@chikovillavert486 As for ramp up. It really depends on how much the intensity is changing. If it is a drastic change then you can run acclimation. If it is not drastically different then you should be fine. It will absolutely work on an 8 hour schedule you can adjust to run whatever length you want. As for white light. White light is not needed to keep corals alive and healthy. What the white light does do is excel the growth rate and aid in color development. So as long as you are ok with a slower growth rate you can eliminate the white period. The other advantage of the white period is viewing fish and non-fluorescent coral. There is another individual on here that took this schedule and ran straight blue with just 10-15% white in the middle of the day. Remember if you delete the white, leave the blue high. So essentially where the blue ramps up, leave them there all day. So if you want all blue your schedule would be (adjust start time to what you want):
      12p - all off
      1pm
      UV = 60%
      Violet = 72%
      Royal Blue = 114%
      Blue = 108%
      7pm
      UV = 60%
      Violet = 72%
      Royal Blue = 114%
      Blue = 108%
      8pm - all off
      I mentioned someone else did this and added some white in the middle of the day at 10-15% and it worked well. You could consider a touch of red and green there as well but not needed unless you want it.

      Hello. Many people have ran it on a 32 biocube and it does great. My only concern is how you have it mounted and that would be for any program you run. The light should be anywhere from 10-12 inches off the water in order to get proper spread and color mix. I run mine 11” off the water. Hello, I see that it is not moonlight, do you not recommend it? I know there are countless opinions. My AI Prime 16 Hd does not have the moonlight channel, in my configuration I have it with some blue. Thank you!!

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  10 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Opinions vary widely on moonlight, and I am somewhere in the middle. Here’s my thoughts.
      If you like the look of the moonlight. Then by all means run it. After all we have these tanks for our viewing pleasure.
      If you are running moonlight for coral health, it is not needed. If you have corals you are trying to get to spawn, then it will help. I personally have never added moonlight to any of my schedules.
      As for the blue. Blue should be just fine. A lot of the MH / T5 combo systems have a few blue moonlight LEDs. HOWEVER, the most important thing to consider is, if you are running those blue LEDs all day for your schedule and again at night for your moonlight, you are going to impact / shorten the life span of those specific LEDs, because total hours ran for the day will be extremely high.

    • @ginesgomezubeda2908
      @ginesgomezubeda2908 10 місяців тому

      Thanks for your response.
      Of course, the issue of turning on blue all night is not a good idea to prolong its life, which is why it seems strange to me not to see the moonlight channel on my screen. I imagine that there are several versions of this screen and this one does not have it. Another option would be to moonlight with blue for just a couple of hours and then turn it off. Your configuration turns off all the lights at 10pm, I could extend some blue at 1% for a couple of hours so we can see more of the aquarium before going to bed. Thanks

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  10 місяців тому

      A very low percentage should be fine. I find it odd you don’t have the moonlight option as in the 16HD there is specific LEDs dedicated to moonlight. Send me a screen shot of the app and I’ll see if I can help. Also, you could shift start and stop times of the whole schedule to better align with your viewing time if you would like.

      You should t have to change anything. I am running it without changes on my fluval flex 15 gallon bubble tip anemone tank without change. Several other people have let me know they are running it on tanks as small as 13.5 gallons without change.

      @@saltypops4276 I just added a second AI Prime 16HD for better dispersion. Both are running your schedule on the aforementioned tank. Should I turn down the intensity now that I have two?

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  6 місяців тому

      In general, yes I would turn it down, probably by 30%-40%. Really depends on the light demand of the corals in the tank. Keep in mind the single prime with my program gives about 175 par a few inches below the water. With 2 close together on a small tank you are going to get a big or bump, so turning them down would be recommended, unless of course you are planning a high light demanding SPS tank.

    • @NormTre

      @@saltypops4276 In light of your response and the fact that it looks like I'm either getting a lot stringy algae or my corals are expelling zooxanthellae, I removed the second AI Prime and reset your schedule back to full with a single light. @saltypops4276  Рік тому

      Hello. Yes you can. Some people have noted that it imports fine and some noted they had to do the math and manually adjust a few of the color spectrums due to not importing properly. If you already have coral make sure to acclimate. Also, depending on the type of coral, you may want to decrease settings. With the 16HD mounted 11” above the water, you’ll get about 200 par under the light about 6” below the water.

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  6 місяців тому

      It will. Several people are using it on SPS, myself included. A single 16 with this program puts out 175-200 par a few inches below the water so a 32 will get you high par with this program. Couple things, I always recommend double checking %s after uploading the program and if you currently have coral in the tank remember to run acclimation mode.
