I've had one of these chainsaws for a few years and collect wood from friends and neighbours. I've never had a problem. Yes the chain looses its edge but a file sorts it out in a few minutes. They HATE cutting soil which i think was your problem.
I noticed you come very close to the ground (Earth) with it. if the blade runs in the earth for just a very short time, it will make it blunt extremely fast. You can buy a file to sharpen it, cost only a few pound. = Oregon 5/32" (4mm) Chain Sharpening File & Guide. The are many UA-cam videos on sharpening, some of which will confirm what I mentioned about not letting the blade touch the ground. Hope this is helpful.
@@UsedReviews the saw or the chain are not the problem its the 🤡 using it never cut root's with any kind of chainsaw i have a titan e saw 2 years now cutting fire wood have no problem and still using the chain that came with it, your inexperance on how to use a chainsaw show's
When cutting roots you have to be careful not to come in to contact with the ground as it dulls the cutting edges immediately! A friend who does this for a living told me 👍
This chainsaw is great value. I paid 69 euros last week for mine and it did a great job.. I greased the sproket on the blade tip and run it on Sunflower oil to start with. Its not a stil nor does it try to be but I logged a large Sidka spruce with it and found it very good. Isha blew a line of three Sidka down across our front fence one at 40ft and the other 2 about 20ft. I discovered that my 2 Aldi electric saws had grown tired after lying up for 5 years. Both could not deliver the oil to the chain and the clutch went on one. So Joyclyn came along and the big spruce was roped and anchored at 45% while I drove to Screwfix. Chainsaws and idiots don't go well together. You need the chain well oiled. You need to see the oil shining on the bar..Motor oil is a waste maybe 5/30 but veggie oil does a good job. Your chain was bone dry.
the chain is blunt because you let it go into the dirt, you will blunt a chain in seconds if you hit the dirt when cutting the roots, you can get a round file and sharpen it up again, takes a bit of practise to get the hang of doing it, a chain will cut a lot of wood if you look after it. Good news is a new chain will only be around £15
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with either the Chainsaw OR the Blade. The Blade is a standard OREGON type which comes with most available chainsaws, no matter what price. As has been said, the problem was with you hitting the earth with the blade. As has also been said, part of owning a chainsaw is occasionally sharpening your blade. Get a simple file. It's easy. Also...where the heck is your FACE GUARD!? Proper gloves, earmuffs and body protector should be used too.
Learn how to sharpen your chain and fill completely with oil, Clean every time you use it and keep the chain out of the dirt. I have this chainsaw and I clean and sharpen it every time I use it. Get some experience before you make a video and give your ill informed opinion.
I was using the same saw and lost the tension screw and pin the only problem I have is I cannot find a replacement apparently titan don't do spare parts what a bummer if any one knows of a parts supplier i would appreciate the info
I just bought one of these. I'm wondering how screwfix were when you tried to get a refund? Did they refund it with no problems? It seems like the chain is just poor quality. I wonder if they have replacement chains made of better materials that will last longer. I have about 8 pine trees to cut down and was going to use this but I might return it if its not up for the job.
I only did one tree but as someone mentioned, don't let it touch any soil as my may have done that ruined the chain. It only touch for very short time. Also I had no issue getting the refund. Good luck...
@@UsedReviews Thank you for the reply. Thats good to hear then. Happy they sorted you out. Maybe ill give mine a go and see how it fares then and try to stay away from any soil. Thanks.
The chain is made of soft metal so that it can be sharpened as are all chain saw blades no matter what you pay for them. Roots have grit on them so should be cut with a hard point saw hand or electric but not a chain saw.
There is nothing wrong with the chain, it is made by Oregon one of the top manufacturers. You need to sharpen chainsaw chains after each use, buy a sharpening file and guide, watch some instructionals you tube videos and learn before giving your opinion. Watch Buckin Billy Rae.
Petrol, Battery or Electric would make no difference to the chain's bluntness. If the rotating chain hits earth whilst cutting a blunt chain will be the outcome.
Would I be right on thinking the chain should be at full speed BEFORE going into the cut? Between that and hitting the ground, you destroyed the chain. Incredible reviews online.
@@UsedReviews good to admit your errors, learn to sharpen, it is a satisfying process and you will cut more efficiently. I have this saw and have cut several tons of wood with it , just bought a second chain as they wear out if used a lot and sharpened.
Nothing wrong with this saw . I have one and it's cut more than double its value in logs . I only bought it so as not too p,off the neighbours logging with my bit stihl
OK ' its clear to me that I will never buy a Titan chainsaw EVER !!! Could of cut than down in one cut with a half decent chainsaw or faster with a hand saw ! But thanks for the vid ,made me realise you get what you pay for !!

nothing wrong with the machine, all you need is a decent chain so still a great deal
Oh Christ, sawing motion backward and forwards as you cut 🤦♂️
What size of chainsaw file do you need to sharpen the blade ?

I'm amazed you got a refund as you clearly blunted the chain on soil/earth
I didn't know that at that time. But it only took few sec to get blunt.
@@UsedReviews yes it spins that fast it only takes a nano second and the damage is done.
Should sharpen up though no problem 😊

The chain needs sharpening not changing. It’s an Oregon chain and they last a long time. I have one of these chainsaws and it’s good.

Was looking for a cheep chainsaw to do the same with a few trees but if this is happening looks like I’ll have to get a better one
Get it and test it yourself. Return if it fails to do it's job. In my case it was the chain that was the issue. Good luck.
Think I will try it only got a few trees and as you say if it stops cutting I’ll bring it back
I've had exactly the same problem today with this chainsaw.
I wanted to keep it buy the chain was useless.
Screwfix are selling these at £35, I think either the chain is crap and needs replacing or you have been cutting the dirt with it and knackered it.

@@jamesclose5085 I agree nothing wrong with it, I was blaming the user, mine is great
Did you not fancy a petrol chainsaw? I got one from Lidl (Parkside). It cost €80.
Electric was much cheaper. And I only would have used it once or twice.

My one big concern is not a hint of safety equipment … always protect yourself..
Thank mate for this wonderful review, definitely won’t be buying this!
Yes chip blade!
Please read others comments. It may have been my falt and the chain may have touched the ground and made it blunt. But is it cheap and cheerful.. lol
