Seriously though, the courage it takes to stand up to a regime that just kills whoever they please. Especially as a young woman, who wasn't going to get drafted & ordered to personally commit atrocities. And a young woman at that, who still had her whole life ahead of her (although perhaps she envisaged being complicit to Nazi Germany as not much of a life)

That she was so enthusiastic for the nazi cause initially was quite common, the youth organizations were incredibly effectively. If you like to you could make a video about why that was, I would be very interested to see that.
I think part of the reason was that they bridged the deep devisions in society, everyone was the same in the Hitler youth and the League of German girls, which does not sound very appealing to us but I think it was perceived as freeing by many young people back than.
I know this was the case for my grandmother. As an illegitimate child in a small, religiously conservative village, she was always sidelined in school, church etc. and at times humiliated by the local priest in front of the other girls. In the League of German girls (and its young girls section) however nobody seemed to care, as long as they wore their uniforms everyone was the same.
In the end the league would also contribute to her disillusion though. They had an event called something like „knitting for the front“, where they made gloves and other winter clothing. I have no idea wether it was actually send to the eastern front but that is what they were told and she came to the conclusion that if THAT was the best they had to offer for their soldiers than all that talking about superiority and coming victory could not carry much truth

Sophie Scholl has proven that you can be a rebel without violence. So should we be. Both Russia and Ukraine are fighting for power. We should side with neither.

Great job HM team for making this video and such a shame that they got caught and died fighting against one of the most evil regimes in history. And holy crap are there a lot of fascists in the comments, don't be discouraged by their negative feedback for covering an interesting and inspiring topic.

And to imagine that in Germany in 2020 "Jana aus Kassel" (that's what the young woman has been called since then) dared to stand on stage during a "Querdenker" demonstration (the German equivalent of the Qanon movement) and say "I feel me like Sophie Scholl" because she is supposed to wear a mask when shopping, that really makes me doubt humanity. Fortunately, a young security worker grabbed the microphone and said that he doesn't do security for such nonsense.

I am sad I didn't come across this video sooner, I thought it was just military history you did, now I can see how wrong I was, and I wish there was more of this, if you could as I know it doesn't gain as much traction, this being your least popular video, could you make more videos such as this?

There was a movement with that name but the details you'll be surprised, as americans say the devil is in the details, most of these stories we grow up hearing, is completely fake, as example schindler's list they broadcasted it to millions of kids as a true story while it's completely fictional, and still we've people believe the story is true without searching just because they watched a movie in their childhood!
We have jewish people defend hitler and one of them debunked such stories in his book about this era, but you'll never hear that in mainstream media or common history because obviously the winner write the history.

@@GabrieLight You said it was fake history and then sort of admitted that the White Rose was real and then started talking about other things that aren’t related. Which part was the fake history? Scholl? The trial? The execution? The accusations? The actual events that lead to their arrest?
