The accused(*the facilty*) defendant(*her leftovers family, logan*), victim(*Luara*), and bystander(*Steve who would have taken her back to S.H.I.E.L.D and they turn her into a weapon. Hence a eternal cycle of killing without choice*)

I love Laura's story. She's a great character
I read innocence lost and target X before watching and they were so emotionally heart wrenching (and I'm fairly unsympathetic and strangely emotional) I loved the sorrow and the pain that the story showed about 23's childhood.
Love X-23, first time i saw her was in the X-Men Evolution cartoon years ago. Shes now one of my favorite fighting game characters (Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3)

The movie is pretty different.
This is nice. X23 is one of my favorite character. Its always nice to see some background story behind a character.
I love that Cap is all about Justice, America, Freedom, Protecting innocent people. But when all the guilty people are dead, and only the innocent person is left, he condems her to a fate worse than death, because 'someone must be punished, even if that person is innocent'.
Kinda spots on everything 'Captain America' stands for, doesn't it?

+SouthSun Her story is great and written with amazing nods to continuity. From here, try X-23 volume 2, new x-men series and avengers academy.
Recent runs of her seem to ignore all her character growth though.
All new X-men ignores all of this stuff, but I'm going to try All New Wolverine. It looks pretty good.
All new x-men does a good job in reconnecting her first x-men appearance and personality to this event. It also hints at her story in NYX as well as severing a a good bridge between X-force and her Volume 2 solo series.
She IS awesome.

And you were only put in this world to be just like them, you ended up killing everyone you cared about, just because you were born to be like this person. Then you finally meet the person, he's a sweetheart but a little rough. But you don't care about that, you know what he has done, that he has willingly murdered people and hundred times. He is evil even when he tries not to be, it's his fault that you killed the only parent you really had with your own two hands. You end up liking him, but you do not want to become him ever, no matter what it takes. You just want to be free from what your destiny was. Because it is that destiny that made you murder your own mother. So your whole life's goal is to stay away from anything to really do with him. Would you really just one day, wake up and decide it would be fun and cool to be Wolverine? I doubt it, unless you are mentally insane.

Man. When I read X-23 comics, I just want to say "Oh you poor... poor girl". I guess what she needs is a role model. Someone who sees her as a person, not a weapon or animal. Someone who understands what is like to be experimented on for destruction. Someone who would do nothing but taking care of her no matter what. Because honestly, I feel sorry for Laura. (And I feel sorry for Sarah before and after she died).

Laura's story saddens me. Especially after seeing Logan. I hope life for her is better after the events of Logan. I hope for her sake that Eden is real.
I'm glad that Laura had friends in the movie, because that helped her learn social skills. that and she also has dozens of people who went through the same thing she did.
Maybe it's just the way the story was told, but there seems to be a huge disconnect between her character in her introduction and her character towards the end here.
In her introduction we learn how she was handled as if she was a weapon, not a person. She had no humanity, no concept of anything outside of assassination. When her mother, completely grief stricken finally came to her to get her out of the facility, all X-23 could comprehend was that her "mother" was attempting to give her a "mission".
I thought that was the tragedy of X-23, this little girl with very base emotions for those who had treated her right, yet had not been given any comprehension of anything outside of her job description. She was a weapon, that's it.
However, this whole story looks like it's tossing that away. She's partying, putting on "cool outfits", going to school. Ontop of all that rather than have her be at the social level where she could barley comprehend the concept of love itself, they instead put her at the social level of an alien trying to fit in with "humans".
The thing is that's what her mother wants
+LordUzaki The first half of her origin story was about how she was created and raised to be a weapon in an environment made to make her cold by being manipulated by Zander.
This half of the origin story is her escaping the facility and gaining the freedom to be a normal girl (like how she was when hanging with Megan), exactly the way her mother wished.
The real tragedy is that Laura knows everything she's done and has to live with it, even though she's not responsible but may still feel like she was anyway.
+LordUzaki Well if it helps you feel better, they bounce her right back to barely talking at all and kind of struggling to grasp human life at all. In NYX she barely speaks and is a prostitute for a bastard of a pimp going by Zebra Daddy. Not completely willingly, it's just a means to survive, and I suppose to her it's just another mission, considering she specializes in sadist activities...
I think she struggles to become human. Even as far back as Innocence Lost she shown some of the humanity Sarah wanted to give to her left its mark. A weapon doesn't cut itself. A weapon doesn't spare a child. And she felt actual distress when Sarah died, and didn't want Sarah to leave her. She felt actual anger and hatred when she was killing Xander, choosing not to use her claw right away, punching the crap out of him while memories flashed in her mind. She showed to have some level of humanity.
There's a bit of a timeskip during Target X (afaik. She sure doesn't look 13 anymore.) Even then she doesn't really socialize much outside of with Megan. She wears Megan's clothes to fit in, not out of some fashion choice. And when she runs, she's back to her secluded self. Cue NYX.
I think she's a character who struggles to maintain her humanity despite her life working against it.

Nebula Storm if anyone was to say something like that to her face, laura would probably react one of two ways: 1. she would be flattered or 2. ( most likely ) she would take it the wrong way and attack you.

I really like X 23. I mean, her backstory is tragic and, plus she's the clone of freaking Wolverine. And plus she's cute.

In a way, yeah, but it's not common. In decent exposure is an arrestable offense and if someone is wearing anything that revealing, you're gonna have a bad time socializing.
Marvel went crazy with her story . She is my favorite though .

Hey, cut him some slack! bucky was caps best friend! there was reason for him to stick up for him. as far as Steve knew, laura was just a young assassin that was fully in control of her actions. its understandable why he wouldn't care if Matt believed her or not.

x23 has been my favorite character from her intro in comics, ive all but neglected my other choices, perhaps do to years of playing out the character in improv segments lol

Maybe, but that still doesn't explain why he went through the trouble of raising a new human weapon instead of, idk, doing literally anything else. Since when has a human-weapons program ever worked in the Marvel U?

If you've read the X-23 Origin, the goal for Zander isn't the same as the Factory. Zander wants revenge, but the Facility wants an army. Facility is Weapon X Program which is Weapon Plus program...

ok so is wolverine still dead? or is all new marvel turning him into old man logan? or both? Why couldn't marvel just do what DC did, a soft re-boot to restart and bacially be the new old ultimate universe.
+Cam Himmelkovic Wolverine is dead. however his mantle "Wolverine" is being passed on to X-23... and Logan will be known as Old Man Logan.
when the next series begins, Old man logan will be part of Marvel's flagship Extraordinary X-men, and Wolverine will continue on in All-New X-men.

Cam Himmelkovic and i said "wolverine is dead" in other words, he's currently not alive. Old Man Logan is an alternate timeline version of Wolverine being "old" and retired. which is why Laura is taking up the mantle of Wolverine! Old Man Logan was so popular, that when the omniverse ended, they kept his story going on battleworld, and will have him continue on as a mentor of sort for the new X-men flagship series.
