    What I loved about his dancing is that he was an entertainer. So many dancers of his era were able to mesmerize you with their repertoire of choreographed moves, but Salah always had a story behind his dancing. He was a great storyteller comical dramatic and at times poignant.
    Technically he’s perfect. I don’t see any weak points He’s master over all his body parts Tremendous athleticism. I can’t say enough. I don’t even try to danc like him it’s impossible

    Salah must be super intelligent.
    He’s doing a fast continuous wave with one arm, while simultaneously doing a staccato isolated wave slowly with the other arm.
    He’s exercising both sides of his brain to do this and it’s tremendously hard to do perfectly.

    I think imitation is the greatest of honors. When I saw Elsewhere and Mr. Wiggles, all I wanted was to replicate their moves. When I saw you and Pacman's audition on SYTYCD I could only wish I could actually copy those moves, because it was pretty obvious where you two guys were comming from, but that had evidently evolved from that to your own style. I see Phillip now on his Insta and the choreography style he has developed is so awesome and it makes me proud that he has perfected and grown from where he became viral and so have you. I believe you are a great dancer and performer who has learned a lot on how and where to move forward in your own style. In my humble opinion, having people wanting to do what you do and of course becoming even better is such a compliment. Not sure if that's how karma works; but you can bet on one thing; there will be for decades a lot of kids who saw you perform and imitate you in hopes of becoming the next viral locker-popper.

    It's my opinion that you gave him the ultimate compliment and did what art always does, takes from the best and keeps it alive in different forms, from one to many. Lot's of artists want their creation for themselves but the greatest rule of art is when you put your piece out there, it's really no longer yours. However, homage, respect, recognition can always persist and you showed that. Touching story, thank you for sharing this!

      You mean social media famous, because Salah is very much street famous :
      - 1997 he went up to half time show at Battle of the Year 1997 Internaitonal
      - 1998 with the family he was disqualified (because touching opponent) at Battle of the Year 1998, yet the judges saying France (The Family) had the better dancers
      - with Vagabonds Salah won several crew world championships (since 1997 Stylements not a single US team won that title)
      - Salah won the Juste Debout (aka the real stand up dance world championships.
      Salah one of the most titled stand up dancers, one of the most titled bboys in one of the top 5 crews at Bboy worldchampionships.

    Now here's the thing for me when it comes to biting. Doing someone "else's move". How do you know it's theirs number 1, and number 2 being able to do their move is impressive on it's own. Yes being original is difficult too. But what's harder? Doing a really difficult move that already exists, or coming up with an easier move on your own? That fact that you're giving him credit for inspiring you, says allot and shows that you are a respectful person. Many people besides you have used "his moves" and not sure if they made a video giving him credit. It's interesting cause I've taught classes, and workshops where I've taught my students my signature moves. Style Elements are always complaining about b-boys taking their moves, routines, and yet they taught workshops to allot of people around the world. Remind has even taught his signature moves to people. So it's kinda weird to complain, but at the same time not so weird. I'm sorta on the fence about it. I get it in certain situations though. I remember I saw a video of b-boy Ace and he's older than me, been breaking longer and we never met, and I didn't know who he was until maybe 4 years ago. He did a move in that video that I've been doing since 2009. So I messaged him and said "yo we have a similar move" and I didn't wanna give it up so I let him know I came up with it on my own, pretty much piecing together other moves, and I didn't get it from him and it's just coincidence. He totally understood cause he knows that can happen. Plus there are literally moves that are used now in different street dance styles that have been done since before street dancing became a thing. It's good to be original though. Or as original as possible cause we can't be totally original. Long comment I know. Just stuff I been thinkin about.

    • @llmrfantasticll
      @llmrfantasticll  5 років тому +1

      Yeah it's exactly what you said, there are so many cases of 'on the fence' biting, i wish i included a bit of an argument attached to my conclusion at the end of the video. But I did say that I think what I changed to the original moves is what made them mine. I took the neck isolation and brought it all the way to the floor, he would only do two or three counts of it and would take it somewhere else. tbh, thats the only move i can think of that i borrowed from lol pancake i took from elsewhere haha. but yeah to touch on what you said about somebody else coming up with a similar move but not knowing it existed before, it happens all the time, and thats why i think when it happens to you, its better to jsut be humble about it, and treat it like its a compliment or homage to your own dancing. Hell most of my fans have admitted they borrowed my moves to help them win contests, and it's that, the fact that you give credit and thank the 'originator' is enough for me personally.

    • @SlickRick4EVER
      @SlickRick4EVER 5 років тому +1

      As I read through your comment, I definite get where you're coming from. I have been popping since 1998 (well, more off than on, sad to say) and I am also on board with the whole biting and originality thing.
      Here's my perspective about that: To be "original" is to do **something** that is out of the ordinary - SO MUCH to the point that your other bboys or popping peers will laugh at you or find it "unorthodox" and unacceptable. Each popper or bboy are much more comfortable emulating (yes, biting) another person's move because two things occur to this: They got inspired by doing "that" move and/or enhancing it to get props from the crowd AND/OR they are too comfortable to not get creative to "save face" and avoid humiliation (it's a risk-reward gamble when someone "invents" something and it gets accepted or "denied"). Back in the day when technology was limited, you were fine with being creative, because shit didn't go viral. NOW, if some schmuck pops up his camera-phone (smart phone) and records you, regardless of what move you do, you're damn suspect for criticism: "You copied (said person) moves!!" or "WTF was that?!?!" SO, it's a cruel situation you're going on it. EVEN WORSE, when that person who "created" that move sees it on UA-cam (or any other source of media), THEY WILL call you out on it! Back in the 1990s (remember, limited tech) if some dancer did the exact same lines of moves as the original (and famous) dancer, you get called out AND even possibly get your ass kicked, physically and on the dance floor. After around 2002ish, all that has changed.
      The way I see it, if a dancer were to copy a certain move, style, or line of dance that I have, I would get mad... at first! Afterward, I would remember this line, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," and then I will understand that he liked it to the point of inspiration. This is why I always saw Toxic (Robert Muraine) doing Elsewhere's moves and all that, but THEN I realized that he was just doing it because he was just real inspired! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!! With the state of how popping and bboy is here in the USA, I am, at the VERY least, happy that this dance is still around - no matter how small it is.

    Part 2: Now the point! Eidetic memory lane is long, filled with hi-ways n bi-ways(unfortunately must justify vernacular) uh 🙄 what is 15yrs feels about 50? Ikr 😼 I’m trying to congratulate you on the fine man you mature into. Combine your love ❤️ with your friends and family and all the others that are happy 😊 as a contortionist yogi 🧘‍♀️ autodidact, lol 😂 self taught. But humbleness n hubris are just 2 qualities that in this sensitive time, after a global meltdown that was in the end a hoodwink! It’s all affirmations for me. By proxy thru your apologies too that existential triple threat in the favour of the other. Expressing your concern through dance 🕺 Le twins 👯‍♀️ are intimately aware that they are deux malarkey 😏 but, as a street artist 👩‍🎨 from a gallery artist 👩‍🎨 life will take you place in the right MINDSET! Meditation 🧘‍♀️ is hard for ev1 but after 30 yrs 2h a day is normal. Happy 😊 while happiness is life! The meaning of life? So easy! It’s life! The ability of consciousness my understanding awareness of self n others. Unlike most of the pop-locking sure off the b boys are the getto rehearsal hall. I’m for on was crying , laughing 😂 when the audition went viral on UA-cam bc. Toronto and Montreal, was it for ant thing California worthy 🙇‍♂️ inverted! Wink 😉 I did really appreciate that tweak on the threading 🧵 the needle 🪡 cut off the thread 🧵 lol I keep the “drop it down spinning 😵‍💫 up” tuche. I love ❤️ these exposure too dancers “huff er’s” Sammy Davis Jr speaks off, as he was also MICHEAL! Prodigy is too much stress. Raise your consciousness to the 7th in order too break free reincarnated ♾ conformity of your self! Your oneness! And at such point @one you will be with the universe and then all is 1! Love ❤️ i’re n shanti Mr.Fantastic for president and PAC-Man. If there was room for Ted the Philip is a cool cat from. Watch the FASTER STRONGER HARDER BETTER remix by K-west lol 😂 kardashian uh 🙄 poor boy! Bloody lyrical genius!

    I know that the guys are inspiration but can you keep the hero worship down a notch and just critique him? All of this gushing over him it’s kind of embarrassing

    Bon soir herr , Sir, prince-raja/ lord- BativaRobert! Happy 😊 on this day, bc I’m not happy with my life. Now after, honestly lol 😂 trying hard as kid. ASD or Savant Syndrome? ♾🌈= ASD AWARENESS MOVMET. 43 yrs of my memory, Of which is that @1.5-2yr? I call, the film 🎞 negative, but it’s mostly positive and altruistic YE philanthropic 🤷‍♂️ but, it’s hard for me, trying not too ! Being try as our focus 🧘‍♀️ on word! I’m not a realist person henceforth one ☝️ lol 😂 mention that uh 😐 no filter n over sharing. But the ultimate worst thing, it’s sad 😞 I just loved all the things, now in such a sensitive mess that we live in. All bc of, the manipulation ( major issue of ASD) amongst others. Vocalization n change. Never a big SYTYCD or any ( star ⭐️ search 🔍 👀 🧐) lol 😂 I was just a yutt, but I’m, how would that be expression vocal- visual effects of translation lol 😂 and this is when the crickets 🦗 start. Bc I’m trying my hardest! Apropos just like that History channel uh 🙄 when they did that. Not reality-retrospective forget about that lol 😂 had one ☝️ been following the last 52yrs! Huh 🤔 that’s not the analytical 🧐 lol 😂 yup! Here’s your sign 🪧 tbc….

    I have a question for you first off i dont mind you calling these dancers great but you cant say they are the greatest of all time you do know they got it from somewhere. The thing is 1977 through the 80s were great dancers you keep saying these guys are the greatest of all time and nobody can do what they do. Well im a dancer one of the best in Sacramento Ca and everything these dancers do we been there done that. But in our era society frowned on our art the skits the story we told the fans were all into it. Poppin was a hood dance not everyone could do it poppin started in Oakland trickling down through the state LA had the lockers to start it off. But you say the greatest of all time. Well i know some guys back in our day put your boys to shame. And everyone of your greatest of all time stole this art from us and got famous for it. In our day it wasn't cool to steal moves we didn't have social media so alot of dancers were not recognized moves that you people do are copied from us and honestly your era is missing something compared to the originals. Your dancers are not the greatest of all time the greatest of all time were the best in their cities in California. We were not allowed to get famous and im insulted when you call them the greatest of all time
