This really helped solve a simple problem I had. The video recording never made a video file because I have an AMD video card and the encoder was set to automatic. I had no idea that the video card brand would make a difference, especially because it showed my specific video card as an encoding option. I set it to software encoding and then the recording worked great. Thanks so much.

Great job. With so many videos on the card and utility, you are the first to show the actual folder where the files are stored. You indirectly answered my question around separation of video and audio files. Thanks for confirming and I do agree that it gives you better flexibility. I just need to streamline the process for my 11yo son to merge the files and upload onto UA-cam.

Ctrl shift R = recording and stop recording 😊 shortcut key you wanna know , because you dont want viewers to see you always hit record button 😅
Unless you prefer to edit the gameplay , and i record in 4K so final video size is over 10Gb or more
So it be best not to edit it unless you have a powerful pc or want to waste time

Do you know how to adjust the sound of the game? When I record the sound of the game is too loud compared to my voice but I find no setting to lower the sound of the game

When you open the videos file, you have the video, the commentary, and game audio, in premiere pro you can edit them to balance out the audio
Okay so I feel like it immediately skipped a step for me, my app is just a black screen that does not show my gameplay of choice at all
Any idea why my game or webcam shows up in OBS but refuses to have a signal for this software??? Driving me insane. NO one online has a video about how to fix this issue. Only option for a potential fix is the obvious disable and re-enable one and it doesn’t work. Please lmk if you can. I have 1 HDMI cable going from my HD60Pro to my monitor. That’s it. If I’m missing anything please lmk asap 🙏🏻

How do you inset images onto the 4k Capture Utlity? I remember you could add images over videos in prevous Elgato capture cards
Hey, I got the 4k60s+ and there's sth off with the app. The first time i installed it the bitrate was between 51 and 146(ish), but out of the blue now it's minimum 68.8 and max 196. Do you have any idea what happened? Also I cannot chose my video encoder. It's automatically set on the capture device itself

Bottom right corner. You should be able to adjust the game volume.

I captured a video and ended the recording. Something cool happened in that clip. Now, how do I edit it? The video is 5 min long but I just need 10 sec of it.

I just set up the elgato 4k 60pro. I connected everything to my 4K tv. My tv runs at 4K while i game. But it’s being captured at 1080p 60. What am I doing wrong ?

Game capture HD will not with with the 4K card. You need to download the 4k software.
Bummer, mine won't play sound on my recordings? Is it me? or did I miss something?
Would this device work as an hdmi input for say, an Apple TV? Obviously it’s intended for capturing... but the preview window seems maybe good enough to stream a show or two in a window rather than taking up an entire monitor.

They need to upgrade this... I want to use the normal capture ... but it tells me I gotta use the utility... with normal you can stream without obs.
The regular utility does not support the 4K card.

since I downloaded this application onto my computer, it zoomed in on my screen monitor and made my computer run a little slow before I even open the application. is there anyway to reverse it? I tried deleting the application, but it just left it😅the same

Just installed the 4k pro mk2 (i use series x xbox) but its only letting me display in 1080p 60frames, if I try to do any higher resolution the 4k utility device has a flashing screen. Cant find help anywhere!

You don't. Its only for capture. Edits need to be done in another program.
I would love to use the 4K capture just as a display sometimes. I feel like when I open the program it starts recording, and oftentimes I do not want that. Is there a way to stop it from automatically recording? Thanks. Very happy with the product though!
Go to Top Right Corner and open up "Settings". Go to 4th tab which is "Recording" and down below you will see "Enable Flashback Recording", just uncheck that and you will stop automatic recording. I hope that will help you!
@ would you please tell me how do I make my game appear in 4 k capture untility window ? sounds stupid question but all videos on the youtube never show that?
Why sometimes my gameplay is not being recorded? When I open the program it automatically starts recording and when I'm done I press the red button to stop recording. Is the video being saved automatically?
This is because you have Flashback Recording Enabled. Turn it off in the settings. Doing this will make it so that your video is a straight up "click once for record, click again to stop".

Is there any advantage over OBS in using this when having a Elgato 4k Capture Card? Or is it just the "inhouse" alternative to not rely on third party software?
OBS can only capture up to 1080p 60 FPS. The Elgato 4k software can capture 4K 60FPS and HDR.

Hi, thank you, do you know why my 4k60s+ is saying no signal even after I have plugged it in correctly and the video from my playstation is passing through to the tv? It is only recording on 4k capture utility after I end the recording, but the recording does not show up as occurring in the software while it is happening.
I want to be able to do flashback recording but unless I hit record first, the game I'm playing is not visible on the 4k utility.
In setting under device make sore the following settings are on: HDMI COLOR RANGE: BYPASS, INPUT EDID MODE: MERGED, EDID: DEFAULT. Also what graphics card are you using?
@@thegunslinger9544 I am using El gato 4k60s+ right now! Thank you for your help and guide, I'm not sure what I did earlier but it started working just with some usb unplugs and power resets to the capture card (it plugs into wall outlet). I've found with this card I have to use the update before the most recent in order to have the 4k capture utility not just show a black screen. But it works like a charm right now with update 1.7.3. If you want to see a flashback capture I was able to do using your methods, just check out the start of the most recent video on my channel. Not sure if it's full 4k capturing yet or it's just hella crispy

How can I save 4k Gameplay? My Settings are on 4k but they only record it in 1080p
In the recording tab make sure your format is set to 2160p and at 60FPS.

I keep having issues where when I record up to 3 hours or so and then stop the recording for the night. It cuts off a large portion of the video. Usually between 10 mins and an hour and half get completely cut out. What am I doing wrong?
Are you using the flash back recording? Are you running out of hard drive space?

Make sure your mic isn't muted in the bottoms right corner.
if you mute audio, how will you hear it while you stream. Are you able to hear footsteps
The Elgato 4k Capture is only used for capturing video to your hard drive. If you want to stream I suggest using OBS Studio. If you have the 4k60 Pro you can do both at the same time.

This video is great and all but I need to disable HDR recording within the recording tab of the elgato software can somebody tell me or show me how to do that or at least make a video on it

Unfortunately this version of the software does not allow this to happen. However the utility will split your audio tracks in the folder where your files are saved.
You would have to use another software to have muted game play with commentary only.
Shotcut is a perfect, easy to use (and free) software. Hope this helps!

@@thegunslinger9544 yeah my audio only records my headset mic and i can’t get the gameplay sound to record. The only time i see the bar move is when i change my desktop audio to the elgato sound capture but i can’t hear anything when i do that. I also went into devices because the elgatohdr was disabled and i can hear voice chat and desktop audio while it records voice and gameplay but when i chose the elgatohdr i can’t hear gameplay.

This will only work with an Nvidia graphics card. If you don't have one it won't capture.

My game looks choppy when I record a video. AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega 10 Mobile Gfx. Do you think it's my graphic card? or do I have to use an intel CPU?
Is there a way to control the volume level? I'd like to have the audio on without affecting the rest of the computer, but the volume is constantly pegged to be as loud as it can be.
Is there a way to make the 4k utility full screen? I don't really like the grey area on the sides it doesn't fit the whole screen if ya know what i mean
No. You can maximize the screen but the grey bars will always be there.

I lag so hard after i record my videos aswell as i cant change my volume and its way too loud...any ways to fix it before i return?
You can adjust the volume of the recording in the bottom right on the capture utility.

@@cloudyvisuals7174 so after a month of doing this i had the wrong setup...make sure you have a pc with a good graphics card and monitor to run it better...if you do it with anything other than that..it will be laggy and hard to use..

Schofield Mate i found a solution but still not satisfied because i cant use a headphone. I tried using a headphone in chatlink but no sounds coming out however if i remove it there's a sound. I hope someone found a solution to this problem ☹️☹️☹️
Use elgato software for record problem solve.. don't use obs

I'm having trouble saving my clips... like every time I make a recording and want to stop, I hit the red record circle, and it just starts a new recording and the old one is gone... could use some help. thanks
If you wanna do straight recording (red button start, red button stop) make sure flashback recording is turned off.

Clips instantly disappear after I'm done recording. Instant replays turned off. What the hell is wrong with this piece of s*** software. I even see the files temporarily show up in the folder they're meant to be recorded to. Soon as I stop recording bam they disappear
Did you check your hard drive space? I'd you don't have enough room that would cause the files to delete. Also what format are you making the files?

im getting the usb communications issue and do not know how to fix it tried everything.
There should be no USB at all. This is a PCI card that sits inside the motherboard. The only cables should be HDMI.
I am using the Elgato HD60S+. I believe I might have gotten the same message. Make sure that the USB cable that goes from the Elgato Capture Card is plugged into the USB 3.0 slot and not a USB 2.0. They look identical but the 3.0 should have a little blue on the the inside of the slot on your computer. That fixed it for me!

I'm not sure if you can use another capture card with Elgato software. Probably no since any card you buy comes with its own.
Also there is no software that allows you to play PS4 on your PC. You need a capture card. There needs to be a piece of hardware in-between your PS4 and your PC.

@@lordsaibot7618 If you have a capture card I would recommend the software that came with it. If you can't use that then try OBS. If you're still getting delay then it could be your PC specs.

Once you have captured the raw 4K file you can use any video editing software you want. If you're new to editing video I recommend shotcut.

How do you record your friends voice in the video?
If youre doing it on xbox go into your xbox settings and have the party chat come through the speakers. I have it set to where it comes in through both the headset and speakers so I have an echo of everyones voice in the headset depending on chat and game volume but on the recording it sounds perfectly fine

You dont need the itility to steam. just to add the capture to your obs.

I am not sure what are you trying to do. You said stream to Facebook through obs. 4k capture utility is for recording, not streaming. I am using the 4k60pro straight away from obs without a problem.

How do I add face cam?
Hello. You can't use a face cam inside of this program. It's a capture program. You would have to use OBS to add gameplay and a face cam.

This program is only to capture 4k gameplay to your computer. If you want to stream game play from the elgato you have to use either OBS or Streamlabs OBS.
